Country Meadows of Allentown
5.0

As my mother began to decline a few years ago, I began looking for a retirement community for her. I visited about ten communities in the Lehigh Valley. It was apparent from the beginning that Country Meadows is special. My mother was very reluctant to leave her home but she quickly adjusted to life at Country Meadows. Making new friends, enjoying a wide range of activities, field trips and country rides keep her engaged. She initially lived in the Personal Care building but has since transitioned to Memory Care and she has received very good care in both. The staff at Country Meadows goes above and beyond their duty. From marketing to the nursing staff to maintenance all are excellent. My mother doesn’t always remember the name Country Meadows so she refers to it as “the place where people treat me so nice”.

Bethlehem Manor Senior Living
5.0

We have been very happy with Bethlehem Manor, we would highly recommend them to any family. They are a very caring group of people. Our loved one was nervous her first day but they were so helpful with the transition and made her feel comfortable right away. She now has fit right in and is very happy. Overall she likes the food, but because of the covid restrictions we just aren't sure how many activities are going on.

Riverton Enhanced Senior Living in Allentown, PA
4.6

Everybody is wonderful, staff is incredible, and all of my questions are answered. I have a spacious one bedroom apartment that I really enjoy. All the residents are very nice. We have wonderful activities and our activities director keeps us busy everyday. The nursing staff always makes sure we are taken care of. There are a lot of other residents to talk to. I'm very happy living here.

Nursing Homes

A nursing home provides room and board to two or more individuals who are not related by marriage or by blood to the administrator. A nursing home facility provides its inhabitants with care by on-site nurses. These caregivers offer care for people who are unable to properly care for their own needs because of the effects of aging.

This type of facility is a familiar and comfortable care choice for persons 65 years and above, however nursing homes will usually allow access to individuals 55 and greater (a rarity in the realm of senior care). Many occupants of nursing homes may have behavioral issues. These can consist of resisting assistance, verbal outbursts, or a tendency to wander. The most frequent mental disease effecting residents of nursing homes is dementia, which can hinder their memory recall, decision making capabilities, and and familiarity with their surroundings. A significant amount of residents are single women who have less social support, and almost 50% of nursing home residents are older than 85 years old. Nursing homes are required to provide emergency dental services, specialized rehabilitative services (treatment for mental illness or intellectual disability), nursing and related services, and room and bed maintenance services to residents. As a resident of a nursing home, you can expect the right to participate in activities, to manage your money, get information on services and fees, and get proper medical care.
