I moved my husband bc the care was so insufficient. He lost 20 lbs in one month, was over medicated at time or not medicated for pain, had soaked diapers almost daily at evening time where he wasn't rounded on all day, and was left in his chair mostly every day ALL DAY. He could walk when he went there and when I pulled him he could hardly stand up. He's been in the new facility for only 5 days now and is getting balanced home cooked meals daily 3x a day as opposed to getting just mashed potatoes with a little minced type of meat in it for lunch AND dinner daily. There were NO ACTIVITIES and very UNDER STAFFED. Only one aide on mostly every evening and one med tech that took care of both floors. She always did the 1st floor first bc the pts were more alert and functioning so that was easier and by the time she got upstairs to the dementia ward meds were always late. The place was not kept clean and they lost several of my husbands items of clothing. I could go on but I won't! I compare the care there to that of a poor mother dog locked up in a cage spitting out puppies with no regard to care, health or age and filth. If you want honesty you just got it. I'm an RN and I know the difference between good quality care and deplorable. Some of the aides were very nice and a few of the med techs as well, but they have no say so in scheduling and what is allowed or not. The place should be closed down.

They do not really engage them much, the residents are usually just sitting in a room with a TV. I think the staff could be more encouraging and get her out because it is not doing any good for her. She does play bingo and goes to church but that is about it, I think there could be more going on in memory care. There are a lot of things she is missing and I think the staff could watch that better and be more attentive. You have to call and make appointments to come see your loved ones and the hours are difficult when you work. It is very expensive especially for what we are getting.

This was a nice community it was just not a good feeling or vibe for my loved one. The tour was good just not the right fit for my loved one. I did not feel like she would adapt well.
I did not like this community. This community was not really what we were looking for for our loved one.
The communication with the care services needs to be improved, as guardian of our loved one we prefer any discussion making come through us first, not go through our loved one first who has memory issues. We want to make sure the right precautions and discussions are being made. We have not been able to eat the meals there ourselves so we do not feel comfortable giving it a rating, but according to our loved one the meals are disgusting. Given the circumstances the staff really do work hard for everything we can see and generally this situation is good for our loved one. We are also happy with the way our loved ones living quarters are set up.

We have been very happy with Bethlehem Manor, we would highly recommend them to any family. They are a very caring group of people. Our loved one was nervous her first day but they were so helpful with the transition and made her feel comfortable right away. She now has fit right in and is very happy. Overall she likes the food, but because of the covid restrictions we just aren't sure how many activities are going on.

The quality isn't there than like another community. The community was recently renovated. All of the staff are cordial. They give you a list of all the staff numbers to call about your loved one. If you have complaints the director wants to know. If your finances are tight this would be a community to check out. My loved one is in a shared room.

We toured this community and the tour was very nice. The staff was very friendly and answered all our questions. The rooms were pod-like and I think the building was a school at one point.
They are understaffed, although very friendly. The staff could be more hands-on and they could do better with hiring better qualified staff. There was an incident with my husband during his stay, which we believe was the result of an under-qualified or under-trained caregiver. They also did not engage him enough in activities either because they had him with the general memory care residents, who were at a higher level of care need than where he was at. They weren't able to individualize his care enough. The food at the community was good.

Response from Bethlehem Manor Senior Living
January 22, 2021Thank you for taking the time to review! We want to assure you that our highly-trained staff follows all protocols and committed to the care and well-being of our residents. Individualized care is a priority and we are always happy to address any concerns. Please reach out to administration with any questions thjat you have. Thank you!
It seems like a good place, although with more of an institutional feel because it's in a renovated school building. It could be what I am looking for but I will continue my search.

After reviewing several facilities my siblings and I decided to move our mother into Bethlehem Manor. It was a decision we will never regret. She was treated with dignity, care and respect by all of the staff. Also, their genuine affection for her and other residents was very apparent. The facility was well secured, clean and pretty decent food as well. My mother was treated like family. Although she is no longer with us, we will always be grateful for the time she lived in Bethlehem Manor.

My mother lived at Bethlehem manor before she passed . I wouldn’t have chosen a better place for her to be I would visit often, good that I was close by. It is not a big community which I felt mom did better in [name removed] in the kitchen knew everyone’s meal preferences personally and gave a family-like atmosphere. Most encounters with staff were positive, some more friendly then others. [Name removed] was fantastic with mom..very caring and intelligent . anytime I had a question or concern she was the go-to She was very involved with moms health and all the other patients..it felt good to know someone else cared and mom was being looked after. She was in good hands I do wish there would have been more activities for mom to pass her time.., It’s not an easy decision to make for your parent.. but I’m glad it all worked out

My mother was a resident at the above community. She had good care and she felt very much at home there. The staff were caring and provided the care needed to help her feel safe and loved. I absolutely would recommend to others.

Bethlehem Manor immediately stood out to me as the best option within a practical distance from where I live. I like to visit my mother often so it’s nice to have her stay somewhere relatively close by. The other thing that stood out to me was the wonderful staff. They are always extremely friendly and know me by name. I can rest knowing they are there for my mother with whatever she needs, whenever she needs it. Wonderful place.

A Place for Mom has scored Bethlehem Manor Senior Living 1 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
