Only been at HH for slightly over a year but have found all the nurses and staff to be very friendly and helpful, always willing lend me a helping hand when I need it. I enjoy the many little features that are provided, which are not provided in other living environments. Every week a new menu for all the meals for the ensuing week, an Activities calendar the month with live entertainers at least every 2 weeks, exercise programs almost daily, games and social get togethers, and religious sessions for those who want them. In all, HH is organized to help the residents enjoy their stay. I almost forgot to mention the providing of transportation to medical appointments off campus. This has allowed me to sell my car and save money. The drivers are friendly and our chats have been enjoyable. Needless to say, I like HH and living here. It is now HOME to me.
First, you need to see this facility. They did a major renovation and it looks so different. It has been modernized and looks amazing. My Mom has been at Brandywine for a few years. It is a tough decision to make when your loved one needs more care than what you can give. The apartments are roomy. The food is wonderful. There are so many activities that one will never get bored. My Mom is now on the Reflections-Memory Care Unit. The care and support that she receives is amazing. She is well cared for. The staff is so genuine and supportive to my Mom and family. Administration takes the time to talk with you and answer your questions. It is like an extended family. I am so happy with making the decision to move my Mom to Brandywine.
Two months ago, my mother was living by herself in a first floor apartment. Things were going pretty good for a while and it took her some time to adjust to the fact that at 72 years old, it was time to retire. She has had 2 major lung surgeries that put her in a rehabilitation hospital for 2-3 weeks each time but seem to be getting through it. However, 2 months ago, she started forgetting things and started to take her medication incorrectly. She had several falls at home and the last one almost did her in. She went to rehab again and it was clear she could not live alone. My sisters and I could not care for her in our houses due to several issues. We found the Villa at St. Elizabeth and they were our savor. We toured the place and talked extensively with the manager about our mother. It was extremely clean, not a spect of dust or dirt anywhere. the place is an old maison with traditional victorian furniture for the residents to enjoy. A quiet sunroom, large living room with a fireplace an dgrand piano, a library with floor to ceiling shelves stocked with book, a beautiful dining room with table cloths and old vistorian panneling. We were there around lunch time and it smelled wonderful. They had a room available within her budget and the admission process was very smooth. After moving Mom in, the staff could not do more for her. They are extremely friendly and always willing to go the extra mile for the residents. The activities offered are endless and there is a ballroom for special activities. It sits on 8 acres of land and I cannot wait to see what it looks like in the spring. It took Mom a little time to get used to the new place, but she has made many new friends and can still go to outside activities herself with the help of the local senior citizen transportation company. I may also add the the chapel is beautiful with padded pew seats. I would recommend this facility highly and they have a web site for more information.

Nursing homes, also called skilled nursing facilities, provide long-term care for seniors with significant physical or mental health conditions, and short-term care to people recovering from an injury or hospital stay. Nursing homes provide personal assistance and medical care from licensed professionals. Services in skilled nursing facilities often include:
A nursing home facility offers room and board to at least two individuals who have no family relation to the administrator. A nursing home facility offers its occupants around-the-clock care administered by registered nurses. These caregivers provide personal care, maintenance and other health related services for those who are unable to properly take care of their own needs.
Nursing homes can be a helpful and comfy living choice for individuals 65 years and above, however nursing homes will frequently allow access to persons 55 and older (a rarity in the realm of senior care).Types of amenities and servicesprovided at nursing homes can include room and board, help with legal questions, friendly visitor programs, and patient and caregiver education. As a resident of a nursing home, you can expect the right to get proper medical care, exercise your rights as a U.S. citizen, be free from discrimination, and make complaints. Nursing homes are required to provide nursing and related services, specialized rehabilitative services (treatment for mental illness or intellectual disability), medically-related social services, and emergency dental services to residents. The most frequent mental disease effecting nursing home residents is dementia, which can hinder their decision making capacities, and familiarity with their surroundings, and memory function. Often times seniors might prefer life in a nursing home over another type of facility due to a physical or mental impairment that prevents them from easily accomplishing the activities of daily living.
