We think the facility is very nice. Our experience the past year has been very good. Overall I think our complaint would be with the day of arrival entry process. It was VERY long, often duplicative of questions and things we'd already gone over with the facility, but the bigger issue, I think, is no one checked back with us to see how it went! Once we were in, that was it! My husband and I both thought that it would have been nice to at least get a phone call asking how everything went, if it was smooth, if we had questions/suggestions. But there was absolutely nothing. We chose Elderwood West Seneca because it was fairly close to where we lived, but also because it was bright and clean, and the rooms weren't worn down and old. The common areas and dining room are very nice, and [name removed], our contact that signed us up, was very helpful and easy to contact.
The people and nurses were great. They have a fine staff, there was only one person we didn't feel was good. The food, however, was not very good

Nursing homes, also called skilled nursing facilities, provide long-term care for seniors with significant physical or mental health conditions, and short-term care to people recovering from an injury or hospital stay. Nursing homes provide personal assistance and medical care from licensed professionals. Services in skilled nursing facilities often include:
A nursing home is a facility that offers residence to two or more seniors who have no family relation to the administrator. A nursing home facility offers its residents 24-hour care administered by registered nurses. These nurses provide healthcare services for seniors who cannot properly take care of themselves due to the effects of aging.
Nursing homes can be a familiar and comfy care choice for persons 65 years or older, however nursing homes will accept individuals 55 and above (a rarity in theworldof senior care).Nursing homes are required to provide medically-related social services, pharmaceutical services, routine personal hygiene items, and nursing and related services to residents. Types of amenities and servicesoffered at nursing homes might include rehabilitation needed due to injury, disability, or illness, monitoring of medication, skilled nursing or medical care, and meal programs. A large number of residents are bachelors or widows with circles of support, and about 50% of nursing home residents are over the age of 85. The most common mental condition experienced by nursing home residents is dementia, which can hinder their decision making abilities, and familiarity, and memory function. As a resident of a nursing home, you can expect the right to be free from restraints, be free from abuse and neglect, get information on services and fees, and be free from discrimination.
