It's important to remember that my father lived at Elderwood two years ago. Some of the issues I had with the place may be irrelevant by now. I did not feel like they offered a level of care that my father required even though they claimed that they did. They were made very aware of the assistance with certain daily needs that my father required. They even did thier own medical evaluation of him! They admitted him anyway, and then neglected those needs after his admittance. Those needs were: - assistance with showering - assistance with toileting - assistance with finding his way around the facility - assistance with dressing -assistance with taking meds -assistance with morning and evening personal hygiene - washing your face/brushing your teeth. It seemed to me like they called themselves an assisted living facility and even claimed to offer enhanced assisted living, but in reality, a resident there was more of a senior living independent living level. I say that because that because they did not have the staffing required to attend to residents in need properly. I had to go there and do my father's laundry, clean his apartment, and change his sheets weekly. My father ultimately advanced to a level of care that they finally admitted they couldn't accommodate after he had a fall that landed him in the hospital. The injuries he had from this 'fall' were not consistent with injuries you would see from a fall unless the resident fell down a flight of stairs - which is exactly what I suspect my father did. Possibly a resident could have had the injuries my father had if they were physically beaten or kicked. I cannot recommend the facility.

We think the facility is very nice. Our experience the past year has been very good. Overall I think our complaint would be with the day of arrival entry process. It was VERY long, often duplicative of questions and things we'd already gone over with the facility, but the bigger issue, I think, is no one checked back with us to see how it went! Once we were in, that was it! My husband and I both thought that it would have been nice to at least get a phone call asking how everything went, if it was smooth, if we had questions/suggestions. But there was absolutely nothing. We chose Elderwood West Seneca because it was fairly close to where we lived, but also because it was bright and clean, and the rooms weren't worn down and old. The common areas and dining room are very nice, and [name removed], our contact that signed us up, was very helpful and easy to contact.

It's only 3 months but I would give them a 4.5 in all the categories. I am starting to feel comfortable with my choice. The staff are very nice and caring. I think it is a wonderful safe place for our more vulnerable family members.

This is a very nice place. The staff are very good to work with and responding to the family's questions. There was no follow up with the family specifically about the admittance and re-entering the community after rehab with our loved one. It would be nice to see a coordinator call the family to ask follow up questions and be proactive with any changes. There are three meals a day offered, and our loved one seems to enjoy the meals. There are options if the resident doesn't care for the main option available they can choose another item available. The community is friendly and well maintained and clean.

Our family had an in person tour and we thought it was a fine tour experience but unfortunately they would not be able to accept our loved one just due to the level of care they needed .
They made a lot of promises surrounding meal requirements, time to get up in the morning requirements, accountability on staff for monitoring my loved one. They have not been great with those things.. The nursing staff can't provide answers when asked pointed questions about my loved ones behavior. It's very musical and my loved one loves that part.

I like the community. I do spend a lot of time there, and feel like I am working in partnership with them. I am unsure what it would be like if I was in a different city and my loved one was here. I believe that with me visiting it helps keep the level of care where I like to see it. There is a medical condition that was under control and it has reappeared, and I feel like the physician and physician's assistant aren't digging into it as hard as they could to find out why it has reappeared. I feel out of the communication loop with care staff since moving my loved one from their Primary Care Physician to the community physician and physician assistant. My loved one enjoys the food, activities, and the community itself. The grounds and building are also enjoyed by my loved one.

The admissions process was painless. They were very helpful. They were detailed with lists that we needed for a smooth transition upon move-in. They were very helpful for my family member, who has memory loss, to acclimate to the facility. He absolutely loves the food, to the point that we don't even bring him food anymore. He tells us he doesn't want it. With his memory loss, the staff, is very accommodating and kind. We have not had one complaint in the time that he's been there.

We really liked the welcoming staff when we first came to Elderwood, they were excellent. This community was very clean and very bright when your first walked in. The care services seem to be very good at this community, as well as the activities. They have live entertainment, bingo games and mass on a regular bases. The menu seems very good, we have eaten there a couple times and they offer a great variety. Our loved one has yet to complain about the food.

The friendliness of the staff varies depending on who you talk to, it seems like they want to charge you for everything, everything is extra. This is assisted living, but our loved one sometimes has to beg for assistance. Because of COVID there are not any activities but even beforehand there seem to not be that many. The rooms are fine, pretty adequate. They have two smalls elevators for the whole place so you have to cram in the elevator. We haven't really seen the food, but our loved one says it varies, sometimes it is good and sometimes its bad.

They were very good about keeping the community clean. All the staff were friendly both to my mother but also to us as the family. The care they were providing was great, however, once the Covid-19 pandemic came about, they restricted the residents in what they could do was so much so we had to move my mother out. They didn't allow us any face-to-face interaction at all. Before the Covid-19 pandemic, we thought the activities were pretty good. We hope they better understand how critical it is for the residents to have face-to-face interaction with their families. While Skype is a nice accommodation, we don't think it is a good enough replacement.

Elderwood Assisted LIving at WS is fine for those who want a nice apartment, good meals, and resident able to function near independently. Anything beyond that is an extra charge that may not necessarily reflect a certain "level of care"as they describe. For example, if your family member needs eye drops it will boost your "medication management" cost. Recreational staff, reception, other support staff as most nurses aides and some nurses are good. A few are excellent. Do not be fooled when they tell you on their website they provide 24 hour nursing. Nurses are there 24 hours but communication between them is poor. Do not expect they know the needs of your loved one even though you have communicated your concerns to the appropriate staff. Be aware from my family's experience that certain of those in charge did not listen to or respond appropriately to our concerns for the well being of our family member. They do not do rounds at night at all. They do not provide residents with medical alarms as do other facilities. Some residents have spent hours on the floor before found. What they call levels of care is about the buck. If you are happy with your current Primary Care Provider, consider keeping that person.

Elderwood is fine for those who want a nice apartment, good meals, and resident able to function near independent. Anything beyond that is an extra charge. Not a good way to take care of residents. Most auxillary staff good. Some excellent.Do not be fooled by 24 hour nursing. Nurses are there but one does not know from the other what they do for your loved one or what is going on with your family member. Nor do certain of those in charge listen and respond appropriately to family concerns. They do not do rounds at night at all. They do not provide neck alarms as other places. Some residents have spent hours on the floor before found. What they call "levels of care" is all about the buck. Ask lots of questions if you are considering Elderwood at WS. And consider keeping your own primary care provider.

We have been so worried about transitioning our aunt from her independent life to assisted living. We were greeted at Elderwood West Seneca by [name removed] and she could not have been more comforting and helpful. The place is absolutely Beautiful, clean and freshly redecorated. All the staff that we met were so friendly and happy. We knew this would be the place for our 88-year-old aunt. All the questions we had were very patiently answered, the tour was outstanding, and then we found the perfect apartment to place Our loved one. We look forward to seeing her enjoy the comforts of Elderwood as she gets settles in. We are so grateful to have found a place like Elderwood West Seneca for her!

Initially, the response time was astounding. Now that Dad is there, there is a bit of a delay. But overall, we are extremely happy with the move.

Everything is working out well for my in laws since their move to this community. My wife, and I am very satisfied with their move here. This facility is working out very well. We know they are safe, and in good hands overall. This is a community I would recommend to family, and friends.

The tour was great and we really liked the community. The staff was helpful and very accommodating. We got to visit with some of the residents that were there. The only reason why we did not have mom come here was the price.
