We are so thankful for and pleased with St. Andrews. They have been very caring and helpful. I appreciate the time they take to educate us on items, when needed. They always reassure when calling that nothing's urgent, but just wanting to share information. It's comforting to know my Dad is in a good, safe place that is relatively convenient for my Mom to visit daily. She loves getting to know the staff on a personal level. Thank you for your assistance in helping us choose the right place for Dad.
We chose Cambridge House of Maryville because it was recommended to us through family members, they said that it was a well-managed facility. The room sizes here are good, but I do think the kitchen could use some more space. Overall, it is a small community and everyone gets along well here. I would and have recommended for the deaf community. I do think they need an interpreter here to help with communication, that would be very helpful.
The employees at San Gabriel Memory Care are educated and trained on dementia and how to care for this patient population. I like the fact that there are consistent caregivers and always someone nearby if you need help. They are consistent with their care and take the residents to the bathroom every couple of hours. They assist with feedings, also. I'm really impressed with their professionalism. Their Activities Director is awesome and they have things planned for the entire day and try to get everyone involved. The place is clean, but not spotless and the food appears to be above average. I would definitely recommend that families check San Gabriel out for their loved ones with dementia!

Nursing homes, also called skilled nursing facilities, provide long-term care for seniors with significant physical or mental health conditions, and short-term care to people recovering from an injury or hospital stay. Nursing homes provide personal assistance and medical care from licensed professionals. Services in skilled nursing facilities often include:
A nursing home offers residence to two or more persons who are not related by blood or by marriage to the administrator. This type of residence offers its occupants around-the-clock care administered by on-site nurses. These caregivers provide health related services for those who cannot care for their own needs due to their aging.
Nursing homes can be a helpful and easy care alternative for persons 65 years and above, however nursing homes will routinely admit individuals 55 and older which is uncommon for other senior care types. A large number of occupants tend to be single women who have smaller social support groups, and about half of nursing home residents are older than 85 years old. The most frequent mental issue effecting residents of nursing homes is dementia, which can cloud their memory recall, and familiarity, and decision making abilities. Some services come at an extra cost which can include personal comfort items, specially prepared food, and a private room, unless medically needed. As a resident of a nursing home, you can expect the right to be free from discrimination, have your representative notified about your care, make complaints, and form or participate in resident groups. A large number of nursing home occupants are persons who have incontinence issues, require assistance with daily tasks such as walking, have mental or physical disabilities, or experience difficulty with hearing and seeing.
