Bethel Lutheran Home in Selma, CA
5.0

We are very pleased with the senior living experience at Bethel Lutheran Home in Selma, CA. The apartment is large and spacious accommodating any physical needs. The quality to which the complex is maintained is one of the best I have seen. Apartments are well maintained and upgraded. The grounds are so neatly kept that it makes your outside experience so enjoyable. The staff has been outstanding from day one. Their attention to the needs and concerns of their tenants is number one in all phases of their organization--Human Resources, Administrative staff, Maintenance, Housekeeping, the Dining Café.

Valley Christian Home in Hanford, CA

Valley Christian Home is not the newest facility. But they keep it up. It is clean, well maintained, and tidy. The food is complete and nutritious, and there are always alternatives. The people that work there are also very friendly and helpful. Overall, I would recommend the community to others.

Nursing Homes

A nursing home community offers residence to at least two individuals who have no family ties to the administrator. A nursing home community provides its inhabitants with care by registered nurses. These caregivers offer healthcare services for seniors who cannot care for themselves because of mental or physical conditions, including age.

This type of community is a familiar and comfortable care alternative for persons 65 years and above, however nursing homes will often admit individuals 55 and greater which is unusual for other senior care types. Types of care services and amenities offered at nursing homes might include monitoring of medication, bill pay, monitoring serious illness and unstable health status, and senior centers. Nursing homes are required to provide routine personal hygiene items, a professionallly directed program of activities, specialized rehabilitative services (treatment for mental illness or intellectual disability), and nursing and related services to residents. Often times individuals might choose to live in a nursing home over another type of community due to a physical or mental condition that makes it difficult for them to accomplish the activities of daily living. Some services come at an extra cost which can include personal reading materials, a private room, unless medically needed, and personal comfort items. The most frequent mental condition experienced by nursing home residents is dementia, which can hinder their and familiarity, decision making capacities, and memory recall.
