Ivy Park at Monterey

The is was a very good community for tracks my husband I brought there while we moved in from Boston to California, and I needed to have him be in a safe place, and that certainly was the case. So now it's important for him to be able to be back home again.

The Park Lane in Monterey, CA

It’s a paradox. Staff and management are quite friendly. The staff is responsive to requests; management is not. Long-time residents report maintenance problems left unattended to for months or even years. They have grown accustomed to the lack of response. I asked four times for a connection to the free internet but got zero response. The Park Lane holds a monthly Maintenance Chat where residents can speak directly to the Maintenance Director. He promised a fast response (“probably tomorrow”) that never happened. In frustration, I ordered Comcast more than a week later. I find the food generally good. The delay between ordering a meal and its delivery is typically quite long.

Vista Harden Ranch in Salinas, CA

The director was very helpful with the questions I had for my Mom and her husband. Once a decision was made, She also made the tour experience pleasant for my Mom. Extra compassion and empathy was needed and it was provided. The facility is homey and inviting with its furnishings and colors.

Nursing Homes

A nursing home provides residence to at least two seniors who have no personal relation to the administrator. A nursing home community offers its occupants 24-hour care administered by on-site nurses. These caregivers provide maintenance, personal care and other health related services for those who are unable to properly care for themselves.

This type of community is a familiar and easy care option for individuals 65 years or older, however nursing homes will often take in individuals 55 and greater rarely heard of in senior care regarding different care types. The most frequent mental issue experienced by residents of nursing homes is dementia, which can hinder their memory function, and familiarity, and decision making capabilities. A large number of occupants tend to be bachelors or widows who have less social support, and about fifty percent of nursing home residents are over 85 years old. Some services come at an extra cost which can include personal reading materials, special care services not included in the community’s Medicaid payment, and specially prepared food. A significant portion of nursing home residents are seniors who have incontinence issues, require assistance with daily tasks such as bathing, experience difficulty with hearing and seeing, or have a physical or mental disability.
