Brookdale Middleton Century Avenue
5.0

Thrilled with the care and attention my Mother received while at this Brookdale. It felt like I was pet of a family! The food is wonderful and I enjoyed that when visiting. They also have fun activities for residents and their family members. Thanks for all you did and I would highly suggest anyone to move their loved one into their community.

Oakwood Village Prairie Ridge Independent Living Apartments a CCRC in Madison, WI
4.0

The week day staff is compassionate and well trained and employed by Oakwood. The weekend staff is hired from an agency and the care and compassion is lacking. They are working on fixing this but claim there are not enough people interested in this type of work.

Milestone Senior Living Stoughton
4.0

The staff that is there are wonderful, they have done a great job given the circumstances but there is a high turnover rate outside of the day to day staff. The director is trying her best, but communication with the staff and families has started to lack. The life enrichment coordinator is fantastic and wonderful, she wears many hats there. We want them to improve, once stability is provided everything will fall into place.

Complete guide to independent living

Verona, Wisconsin

Independent Living

For those who wish to live primarily without personal assistance but would like the convenience of having daily tasks and responsibilities maintained by professionalls, an Independent Living Community may be the perfect fit. Basic tasks such as meal preparation and housekeeping are handled by staff and a calendar of recreational and leisure activities is maintained, allowing residents the autonomy to use their time as they choose, free from daily obligations. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy the opportunity to be among peers, in a community with others of similar ages and interests. Typically consisting of a private living area and a full kitchen, these communities offer residences with many of the amenities of apartment life but without the hassle. Guests can be invited over and entertained, and there will be more time to spend with them with the basic maintenance of daily chores out of the way. While policies differ between locations, many residences allow pets as well. Nursing and health care services can always be arranged for with independent care providers as desired. There are an assortment of advantages and expenses to consider when deciding on an independent living community. It is important to learn if these amenities are covered in your service plan: laundry, cable TV, utilities, field trips, move-in fee, meals, parking, and housekeeping. The luxuries that pertain to independent living include restaurant-style dining hall, fitness center & swimming pool, security guards, beauty salon & barber shop, healthcare center, transportation, golf course, and game/TV room.
