Brier Pointe Retirement Community in Morrisville, NC
5.0

We attended an information seminar and we were intrigued by the presentation and eventually became the second couple to move into Brier Pointe when it opened. We were drawn into the community by the promise of all-inclusive services to include meals, housekeeping, paid utilities, transportation services, social activities & events. We have not been disappointed at all. In fact, we've met so many new friends and my husband has received a new lease on life. He was introduced to Chinese brush painting, and this is his new passion. He has painted 45 pieces in 14 months and has even been offered up to $200 for some of his work.

Atria Cary
5.0

I have never seen a place where everyone on the staff smiles and is friendly with only an exception or two (none in key positions). The food is great -[name removed] the restaurant manager, is terrific. The facilities are top notch & maintained well. Likewise, the residents are almost universally friendly & chatty, which my loved one really enjoys. The facility is located in a great area: good shopping, easy access to medical facilities. Cost is high, but not out of line for services received. All these places are expensive.

Overture Cary in Morrisville, NC
4.5

This is a good facility but it is strictly independent living. There are activities such as games and outings if you are able to move freely. It depends on what you need. The Overture is nice but there are times when I would like to have a prepared meal once a day. Also it would be nice to have someone on call at night. Since my husband died a year ago, I find myself needing someone to call on. Other places I have looked at are higher in cost.

Independent Living

An Independent Living Community permits residents the ability to continue to live their active lives while making sure their essential needs are being fulfilled. Meals, leisure activities and housekeeping chores are taken care of while you are unrestricted to use your time as you wish. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy an opportunity to live among peers, in a community with others of similar age groups and backgrounds. Residents’ quarters consist of private living spaces, each with their own kitchen. The independence of apartment life is still enjoyed, offering an opportunity to entertain guests and visitors in a private and personal setting. While policies vary between communities, numerous residences allow pets as well. If medical or nursing assistance is desired, residents may always utilize the services of independent care providers. There are an assortment of expenditures and advantages to consider when determining an independent living community. It is important to learn if these services are covered in your plan: Waiting list deposit, meals, utilities, field trips, private phone, parking, wellness program, and move-in fee. The luxuries that pertain to independent living include restaurant-style dining hall, healthcare center, golf course, community activities, security guards, laundry service, transportation, and fitness center & swimming pool.
