The Bristal at East Northport
4.5

The staff at the East Northport Bristal is always kind. They always have a smile on their faces and are genuinely sweet and loving to my mom. The facility is ALWAYS spotless and beautiful to live in or visit. The only area I see occasional improvement for is the food. It is not always hot and more fresh veggies needed. The personal care and overall facility is excellent.

Whisper Woods of Smithtown
4.9

The community is beautiful and well maintained. The staff is friendly, helpful and attentive. The nursing staff is on top of all the residents healthcare needs. There are plenty of activities to interest everyone. Our family feels blessed to have found this Assisted Living to care for our parents. We now have peace of mind and can enjoy time with them without having to be full time caregivers.

Seacrest Retirement Center in West Haven, CT
4.0

After visiting many "retirement homes", Seacrest definitely feels more homey than all of the other more institution style residencies. It's beautiful water view setting adds tremendously to its value as well as a strong sense of family amongst its attendants and workers and residents. Our unannounced visits are always met with an orderly, controlled environment, filling every need of the residents. I would definitely recommend Seacrest to anyone looking for that special place.

Complete guide to independent living

Coram, New York

Independent Living

An Independent Living Community allows residents the opportunity to live active lives while assuring their care requirements have been fulfilled. Seniors can continue to live their lives as they see fit while their food is cooked by a professionall chef, housekeeping and laundry duties are handled by staff, and social activities are organized and scheduled. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy the opportunity to be among peers, in a community with others of similar age groups and backgrounds. Typically consisting of a private living space and a full kitchen, these communities offer residences with many of the amenities of apartment life but with none of the hassle. Guests can be invited over and entertained, and more time can be spent with them with the basic maintenance of daily chores out of the way. While policies differ between communities, many residences allow cats and dogs as well. If medical or nursing care is desired, residents may always utilize the services of private caregivers. There are a variety of advantages and expenditures to consider when selecting an independent living community. It is important to determine if these amenities are included in your plan: move-in fee, field trips, parking, private phone, utilities, internet access, wellness program, and transportation. The conveniences that pertain to independent living include private rental hall, fitness center & swimming pool, beauty salon & barber shop, restaurant-style dining hall, laundry service, golf course, security guards, and game/TV room.
