We really couldn't be any happier with the entire facility. The cleanliness and friendliness being on the top along with good food and a great menu. Care has been very good too. Activities are ok the only thing we wish would be a larger outdoor area to enjoy. I would have done away with the outdoor pool to make more room.... Read more

If your family member is unable to care for themselves you absolutely need to keep on top of them. Everything that goes on at the location should be watched as they do not watch for you. I would not recommend them

When my 97 year old father fell in July we knew it was time to move him closer to us. My husband I looked at 8 different places. We were looking for the right fit as well keeping within his budget that he saved up for this occasion. We were impressed with the premises and the staff that we met. The rooms were clean and they were spacious. My father is pleased with his room, his meals and the staff in his first week there.

THANKYOU to all the staff for making this transition for my mom so seemless. Her room is big and sunny and clean. Everything/everywhere is sooo clean. The staff is extremely attentive, friendly and super inviting. After a year of Covid isolation, it is so nice to see my mom smile again.

I highly recommend this community to my friends. I would let the kno that the community is expensive. Prior to COVID the food was very good. Due to COVID the food is average to good at best. The room size is perfect for my loved. The room is much like having your own studio apartment.

We placed my mother, 91 years old, at the Bristal at Holtsville mid 2018. She was critical of the change, but I encouraged her to stay a few months because it was the best solution for her well-being at the time. Two months later, during one of my calls to her on her cell phone, I asked her what she thought about her stay there. To my surprise she said to me, "I can't speak to you now, I am too busy". Well, that told me everything. Seven months later she continues to tell me that she is having so much fun that she can't stop laughing. Now if that isn't one of the best things to hear from an elderly mother, I don't know what is. Enough said!!!

My Mom has been here for a few months now...She no longer could be left alone but did not need nursing home type care...In the few months she has been here the change in her has been fantastic...She is like a new woman!!! She has made new buddies she does activities with and just being much more sociable...The staff is what I call "so stinking nice" Everybody from the front desk to the maint. workers to the dining room staff is just GREAT!!! She gets her meds on time and her room is so nice I could live there!!! Church buss on Sunday morning to movies and Bingo...Always something going on to keep here active...If you are thinking about checking out places for a loved one then you owe it to yourself to check out The Bristal...

The facility was beautiful. The person who showed me the facility answered all my questions. But it was not the right fit for my Dad. The facility was a bit more luxurious a place than he would be comfortable in, and the costs were at the higher end.

My mother did not have a positive stay at the Bristol in Holtsville. The sales pitch was great, but mom was not happy there. I cannot recommend this facility based on our experiences with elevators not working, quality of food and care received.

Beautiful building and good services. Units expensive for location. Directly on Long Island Expressway and backing up onto parking lot - completely depressing. Not a tree in sight. Fine if person never leaves the building. Feels institutional and is sited in a sea of asphalt.

Response from The Bristal at Holtsville
May 21, 2018For over 15 years, The Bristal has remained particularly selective about where we develop and open our communities. First and foremost, we look for areas that are conveniently located. Having a location on the Long Island Expressway allows visitors and residents easy access to our community in their travels both Eastbound and Westbound on Long Island. Our communities are, of course, backed by spacious parking areas. It is our goal for residents and their friends and families to be able to travel to and from The Bristal with ease – which includes close and convenient parking. We pride ourselves on developing extraordinary assisted living communities that have no rival, delivering exceptionally skilled senior care within a beautiful and loving environment. We encourage you to come back for another visit to experience our exquisitely designed and manicured grounds featuring a beautiful outdoor patio, a putting green and heated swimming pool. Our high standards can be readily seen in our spacious and comfortable apartments, in our amenity-rich interiors, in our country club style resort living, complete with salon, theater, fitness center and more. We also provide fun excursions for our residents, to shop, see shows, visit restaurants and more with motor coach transportation. It all comes together to create a senior care experience like no other. We invite you to visit The Bristal at Holtsville to take it all in for yourself.

I cannot say enough about The Bristal from the friendly and caring staff to the food, cleanliness, activities and overall care. My father was extremely resistant when he entered The Bristal in August, 2017 even though he and we, as his family, knew that he needed the support. With days, he was open to staying and now loves it. We owe a lot of this to the staff who made him feel important, welcome and supported. The activities are varied and include frequent outings to local stores and entertainment. They even have monthly live entertainment at the Bristal. The quality and variety of the food is superior. There is nothing I would change about the environment. As his family, we always know that he is well cared for and most importantly, he is safe and happy.

I was looking for a one bedroom for my wife. I saw the assisted living area and it looked very nice and vibrant. After seeing other communities we felt this was not the right fit.

I have no complaints about how things are going for my mother since she has made the move into this community. The staff are very helpful and I could not ask for a better group to care for her in my opinion. She has had no problems with the tasty meals and really has been engaging in a lot of the activities they have throughout the day. I have noticed she seems a lot more focused and alert since she made the move and overall I am very pleased.

The property was very clean when I had taken my tour and everything was well presented by the staff member that showed us around the facility. She made sure to take her time with us and answer any questions we had for them with patience. The floor plan was open and was easy for the residents to navigate through which I was impressed with.

we picked this community because it was newer and closer to me. I am so happy for my mom. The staff are doing fabulous with what they do for her. She has gained 4 pounds already. She is doing something all the time and just fine being here.

This a lovely community, and I'am satisfied with my aunts move to this community. They are taking good care of her, and her needs. She is still adjusting to the routine around the community, but they have a good staff. They are treating her well. The community looks beautiful. This community has a good reputation around town, and I would recommend it.

This place is like walking into a five star hotel. It is a new community and it is beautiful. Mom is doing really well here and the people are great with her. Mom sometimes likes the food and sometimes does not, but when we ate there it was good. The dining room environment is very pleasant. We also like the location of the community.

A Place for Mom has scored The Bristal at Holtsville 6.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
