This was based on the outside of my apartment . I lived at Woodlands the last time for one year. The entire half off of my front screen was hanging almost to the ground. This was in an apartment facing the lake on the street you drove in on. I asked to have it fixed and was told that would happen when it came up on their schedule. It never happened. Overall the staff was always friendly. I can only speak for Independent Living. There was virtually no care. I had a few friends on staff who would drop by if I hadn't been seen for a week or more. My family would never have considered eating in the dining room. I cooked most of my meals and would only go down when there something I knew would be alright. I will say the soup was generally always good. To be honest the activities seemed to appeal to a lot of people. If they had art projects I would go but I don't enjoy games, I paid my total bill so it was not a concern to my family. Woodlands, as far as I know was the cheapest place available. It would not be what I would have chosen if I could have afforded more.... Read more

They are thieves and liars. My mother took a turn for the worst 3 days before move in - they promised her money. Strung us along for 2 months . Then wouldn’t return calls or email. My mother is blind. She was not able to afford losing all of that money. But they didn’t seem to care. Would definitely not recommend this place- no compassion or honesty

Moved my mother in near the end of May. Several communication issues with paperwork delayed the move in for about a week, which was frustrating. But once she was moved in and settled, she loves it. She says food is really good with a nice variety. Most important, the staff is very friendly, caring and always willing to help. The apartment is a nice size and mom loves that she has her own outdoor, screened in patio to enjoy the lovely greenery outside. Mom is very happy. We all feel very fortunate to have found such a great place for her.

The staff is exceptional, and the receptionist [name removed] is a great person, and goes out of her way to assist you no matter what.I would definitely recommend this place. The unit director [name removed] is very pleasant and a peoples person. I have rented a lot of apartments in my day but the staff, is the greatest I have ever dealt with. This place reminds me of a cottage in the woods, located in Northern Michigan. It was nice, cozy and had a great outdoor atmosphere.

This is a wonderful place! Be sure the potential resident only needs Assisted Living. It turned out my Aunt actually needed a little more than AL, and everyone there were wonderful taking care of her.

Not good. My mom went out with them with minimal supervision even though they knew she had some memory loss. She was lost and was listed as a silver alert for eight hours, and it took the facility an hour and a half before notifying me and my family members.

Response from Woodlands Village
May 6, 2024Thank you for sharing your experience. The General Manager is available to further discuss your concerns. If you would like to be put in touch, please email me at CustomerService@AtriaSeniorLiving.com.
The move in was riddled with issues. The unit was to be ready by mid-Dec. It was not and Grandma planned to move in mid-late January. Still not ready by early January. Grandma had health issues and that prolonged the move. She finally moved moved in February and there was no electricity in the living room. Now that Grandma is settled in, she is very comfortable in the facility.

I would say my mom was very happy there, but it is very big so residents should be mostly independent. I chose it because of the price.

Things are looking good and will look better when the remodeling is finished. like the activities here at Woodlands. The musicians and singers that put on shows are awesome! Also, the movie team does a very good job at movie selections. Over all Woodlands is a good place.

I've lived at Woodlands Village for 18 months and find it a safe, restful, and friendly place to live. The food is tasty and plentiful. The staff is very helpful and kind. Plenty of activities to keep me busy and music to keep me entertained! Although they are remodeling certain areas of the community, any inconvenience is kept to a minimum. I highly recommend that you come check us out!

I just wanted to drop a quick note and say how much I appreciate Woodlands Villages' support. My mother-in-law is very happy with her apartment and she is enjoying her social life now more as well! The team is a very large part of her ongoing happiness and I sincerely thank the Woodlands Village team for your continued kindness toward her.

My loved one is currently a resident at Holiday Woodlands Village and overall her experience at this facility has been okay so far. I'm not sure if I would recommend this facility to others, I maybe would.

While Woodlands is an older facility the owners are in the process of refurbishing everything from the roof down. When possible new residents are occupying apartments that have been remodeled. I find the negative things said about Woodlands are the exact same things said about facilities that cost twice as much. There is one thing I think Woodlands has that is #1. That is the treatment the residents get from the staff. From the General Manager down everyone treats you like family. This is my second time at Woodlands. After almost 5 years I decided I wanted to be on my own again. I was away for one year when health problems caused me to seek another Independent Living Facility. It took me no time at all to decide I wanted to go back to Woodlands Village and why not. It is home.

The staff at Woodlands Village responds well to questions and concerns. I do think that the menus should be more specific to each site, not just issued from corporate headquarters. Actual meals do not match menu often. The apartment sizes and amenities offered to the residents are good. I would highly recommend Woodlands Village.

I would tell others looking that Woodlands Village is in a very nice setting, it is shady and green. I do think that the staff at the facility need to improve on communication to the families. I would recommend Woodlands Village to others looking.

The tours were great. Everyone I met with was fantastic. The difference was the cost and the [name removed] facility is beautiful. More attractive than the others. It was a much better value. Everyone was friendly, informative and completely understood what I was doing through. They were so kind.
Response from Woodlands Village
July 11, 2023Thank you for sharing your positive experience! Please don't hesitate to reach back out for any more information!
The facility has a very friendly staff that does a good job at knowing their residents and in trying to accommodate their needs. They could improve the consistency of their food preparations (i.e. sometimes the rice and pasta is undercooked and sometimes it is perfect). The residents would prefer to select their meal choices a day in advance so the kitchen prepares enough of each entrée rather than running out of a certain item before the completion of the food service. The facility is going through a remodel so some of the cleanliness issues may be related to necessary updates; however, the primary issue is with cock roaches. If they are not currently under contract with an exterminator, they need to be. If they do use an exterminator, they either need to increase the frequency of the service or change companies because whatever they are doing is not effective.

Communication has been excellent. They are taking very good care of my mom. Everyone is very nice and I know my mom is safe and well cared for. My mom can be very difficult, so I am grateful they have patience with her. I would recommend to others.

A Place for Mom has scored Woodlands Village 9.1 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
