My friend, [name removed], had been in very bad shape, emotionally, after the death of her husband. We researched assisted living/independent care facilities and decided on Water's Edge of Bradenton. We explained [name removed] needs to the staff and they fully understood. [name removed]has lived there a little over a month, in which time she has gotten physical, medical and emotional help and support. She is renewed and invigorated and definitely much, much happier. Water's Edge of Bradenton has been a Godsend for [name removed], and for me! It has eased the burdens of life for us. [name removed]has found happiness and comfort again.

Response from Water's Edge of Bradenton
September 25, 2024Thank you for the positive feedback ... we have a really special community
We absolutely would recommend the facility and we actually have already! The move in process was very easy! Communication is AMAZING! Housekeeping is great. The food is okay, but part of that is just because my loved one is not interested. The staff is wonderful!

I would definitely recommend Water's Edge of Bradenton to anyone who would like to experience an amazing community with continuity of care from independent villas to independent apartments, to assisted living, and even memory care. We have had an excellent experience with Water's Edge in the Villas where my mother-in-law lives. The residents are all very friendly as well.

This place has really gone down hill since December 2022. A lot of people quit In The end of December and never got replaced. The rent went up while quality went way down.

All of our family members have found it to be very nice. It's generally always clean, and the aides are there doing their jobs. Overall we've been really happy. It's a good place, and we know that our loved one is well cared for. She's eating well and sleeping well. One area for improvement is the activities. I think they should have more activities, especially because it's memory care. But overall she's in very good hands.

I moved my mother down to Water’s Edge independent living facility in December from Pennsylvania. My mother has made many friends and is very happy in her new apartment. I visit quite frequently stay and eat dinner with her. The wait staff is excellent and the food choices are delicious. Waters Edge activities are wonderful. Especially the wine and cheese parties and the entertainment! It feels like one big happy family as everyone is so outgoing and caring. At Waters Edge. My mother is getting the medical attention she requires and they provide her with transportation to her appointments. The staff is very helpful and outgoing. I definitely feel we made the best choice for my mother at Waters Edge!

The tour was great. We were in the process of moving and we had to do the tours remotely. The community was great but there was just another community that worked out better for my loved one.The tour guide was good and was able to give me all of the information I needed about the community.
I visited 8 different independent living facilities and choose Waters Edge for my mother.Everyone we have had contact with are very helpful and courteous. She gets 2 meals per day and the food has been gourmet style and excellent.. the chef is very caring and comes out to the tables to ask how the food is every night. The staff have been extremely helpful and caring. The cleaning lady is very good. I am very happy that we choose Waters Edge. It is a gaited community and feel she is in a safe and caring community.

We live out of state so we have not seen much of the facility but the feedback our in=laws have given us, they seem to be having a very good experience with Water's Edge.
I would tell others to not put your loved ones here. They have no staff and the ones they do have are all temps and they do not know what they are doing. I was paying top dollar for the care and no one was checking on her. It was a horrible experience and I would never recommend them.

This community was awesome but it was more expensive than my other choice. We just could not justify the amount with how equal or other option was to this community. I really liked it just couldn't justify the price.
I would tell others it is a good place. The staff are very concerned and interactive with my loved ones. The food is more like cafeteria food than what my loved ones are used to. The community does provide a variety of meals.

Our experience was a nightmare and take my loved one out of the community immediately. The food was horrible and the smell was horrible. The floors was terrible, I've seen gas station floors cleaner. The staff was lying about daily living activities. The community was wanting us to pay more, since the meals were being delivered. The meals were being delivered because the community closed the dining room, so they had to deliver the meals to the residents. The director was new and you couldn't communicate with them. If you confronted them they were defensive. Other residents were leaving quickly. There is no communication and they wouldn't respond to emails. One meal was lasagna and rice. I wouldn't leave a dead dog in that place. The community wanted more pills of a medication and they ran short, and they should've had enough to cover a monthly supply.

The locations is really good, the campus is very nice. It is a combination of independent living villas, assisted living and memory care. The amenities are very nice, they have a separate town center with a movie theater. However with speaking to some of the residents the food could use some improvement as well as the quality.

The community does not require a lease and they have a healthcare service here where the healthcare professional comes to the community for any appts or if anyone needs to be seen. I would recommend this community to others

The friendliness of the staff members varies a lot. The help is good but the management is sometimes not consistent. If our loved one has an issue or needs help we do not know who to get into contact with. They do not answer phone calls or their emails. Pre COVID when it came to the activities there was not a lot offered to the residents. The food was a bad experience, it could use some improvements. We do know there is a new chef, but we still do not know if those improvements have been made. Our loved one has a lovely room with a nice view of a small pond. The layout is great and is very functional.

My mom is in assisted living there. The place is beautiful, her apartment is beautiful, its gated, there is good and safe walking. Nice pool, and library. Unfortunately the food is genuinely terrible. It was reasonably ok when mom moved in, but since the lockdown, its been really bad. No fresh fruit for ages. Lots of empty carbs. Unpalatable food. Mom has been spending $300-400/month on groceries...in a place that is supposed to be providing all meals. Mother and I spoke to the Director and the head of the kitchen, with specific requests: No pasta, no deep fried or breaded food, and please provide fresh fruit every day. These simple requests are not honored. Days after the meetings, I called mom and she was delivered a pasta main dish with a pasta side. i might expect this in a very low quality place, but I expect much more from Waters Edge, based on the beautiful facilities and the amount of money mom is paying. Others have made complaints to the Florida State ombudsman. I know that there has been turnover with the chefs, and the director recently left...perhaps let go. Other than the food issue he was quite nice and helpful. Recently residents who manage their own medication had locks installed in their kitchen cabinets and were instructed to lock up their meds. There is some talk of jewelry going missing too. The residents have been confined to their rooms and told not to visit with each other for the past 6 months. Activities such as they are, are in the morning, which is a bad time for older people. I don't know how other places have handled covid, but it has been very lonely and depressing for mom. I do like the place, but I can't recommend Waters Edge at this time. Maybe corporate will increase the food budget or they will hire someone who can provide decent food. At this point the food does not support health.

A Place for Mom has scored Water's Edge of Bradenton 9.1 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
