Westchester Village of Lenexa

Mom's 1st fall led to 9 weeks of pain and substandard care in rehab facilities and with her passing. During this 9 weeks it was decided that Mom and Dad would not be able to remain in their home of 50+ years and after extensive research Westchester Village was selected for their Assisted Living accommodations. We moved Dad in and Mom moved to their Skilled Nursing to complete her rehab but the falls and her illness won that battle. With Dad in Assisted Living, regulations prevented Mom from joining him for hospice. Rather than have her somewhere that he couldn't visit, Westchester Village made their on-premise apartment available for hospice which allowed Dad to spend as much time as possible with Mom at the end as well as providing extra space for my rather large family as we were also trying to provide comfort and support to Mom, Dad, and each other. Courtney O'Connor, Judy Baxter, and the staff at Westchester Village have been kind, gracious, and generous thru this difficult time

Our family chose Westchester for our mom. She received wonderful care and we felt she was safe, what a relief for us. All of the staff made us feel like family, We were surrounded with kindness during the difficult days we were experiencing. Comfort and compassion, we as a family were able to put all trepidations aside. We will be recommending Westchester Village to others.

Things have been great. People are very helpful and friendly.

Mom has lived in this faciity for 5 years. She has been treated very well and has enjoyed living in her assisted living apartment. Food is very good and staff is caring and has taken good care of her. The administrator has been extremely helpful in resolving various issues.

Mom seems to be adjusting well. Huge kudos to her neighbor for helping her assimilate into a new environment. Thanks for everything you've done to help mom in this transition. We are so pleased she's there in your community. Thanks again!

We are so impressed with Westchester Village! From our first contact with Judy through moving mom into her new assisted living apartment, the experience was top notch. Mom started with the Westchester short term rehab unit. They did a phenomenal job helping her regain mobility and independence. The transition to assisted living has been seamless and we are looking forward to her becoming part of the Westchester community. Everyone at Westchester is so helpful, friendly and kind. We feel extremely blessed to have found such an outstanding place for mom!

My grandmother lived there for over 4 years and leading up to the covid 19 pandemic it was a wonderful place to live... but in Nov-9 months into the pandemic- they started floating staff between ill & well patients subsequently sending covid 19 raging through the facility. Staff wasn’t wearing appropriate PPE. I stood outside her window & watched staff come in wearing only an ordinary mask and no gown or face shield. That staff member tested + for covid later that day and my grandmother tested + later that week. Then as she suffered infected with covid they didnt move her to an ill side of the center but left her in her room feet away from her roommate who was well at the time. She subsequently went on to die and at the end of the day had they followed the standard of care likely many of those residents would have lived the few more weeks they needed to to get vaccinated. When pressed on why they floated staff between ill and well residents they noted being short staffed.

My parents have been in Assisted Living at WVL for over 2 years now. The range of care - which includes skilled nursing and rehab, is an added bonus. My mother fell and upon release from hospital she required rehab. Fortunately, because she was able to complete her rehab at WVL my parents could still see each other. The quality of the staff is the most important measure for me because that equates to the quality of the care they are given. The AL staff cares so deeply about their residents that several of them visited my mother during her stay in the rehab wing. During the COVID-19 period, which has been tough on all of us, the staff has gone out of their way to help provide a connection between friends and family of the residents and the resident. We definitely made the right choice when we moved my parents to WVL.

Thank you Westchester for the great care for my dear aunt. Over the past four years our family has been and continues to be happy with the care the community is giving to our loved one. We appreciate your professionalism and desire to accommodate our needs.

My mother has experienced all three levels of care. Westchester Village of Lenexa has very low staff turnover so they know and treat residents like family! Management, dietary and housekeeping know my mother by name. Great facility!

Two years ago my mother came to Westchester for rehab and was so impressed with the facility, the residents and the provider, that she decided to sell her home and get an independent living apartment. The staff from top to bottom could not be more gracious with their time. The overall experience could not be any better.

My mom has been a resident in the Independent living section at Westchester Village for 1.5 years. I cannot say enough positive things about the management and compassionate, caring residents that live in the facility. Even during these unprecedented times we are living in the management is ensuring the safety of the residents and maintaining a safe level of activities to ensure some socialization is occuring. My mom has been involved in the Bible study, sewing club, exercise classes and provides input on the resident council. She said to me, "I don't know why I didn't move here sooner". Rehab- wonderful staff- very caring. The social worker [name removed], [name removed] (day nurse) [name removed], [name removed], [name removed] (OT), [name removed] (PT). [Name removed] - housekeeping and all the CNA's, dining staff that help. Treat your loved one like family Meals are good. [Name removed] keeps everyone engaged with activities.

I would like to thank Westchester for all the good service that was given to [name removed] during his stay at your place. Everyone was so nice. There was not one that wasn't smiling or willing to help care and the family. Thank you so much.

The staff was extremely courteous and professional from the first day. We started searching for a senior living facility for my parents. They took excellent care of my dad in their skilled nursing area to the end. Mom recently moved into their assisted living area and we are experiencing equally great care. She like it very much

We love this community! From our first visit, we felt like it was a place people call home. The staff are so happy and welcoming. my mother refers to them as friends. Any time we have a request or question, someone takes the time to make sure we are satisfied.

Arrived at 8:30 to do the packing. About 9:30 2 trucks and 6 men arrived to load trucks. Move was finished about 1:00pm. Move was well organized, each person knew his/her responsibility and did their tasks in an efficient and very pleasant manner. All persons involved were very pleasant to work with and were careful with our belongings.
