It's a smaller facility and a great sense of community. Dog friendly as it was so important that the folks could keep their little dogs! Plenty of activities to keep them busy, weekly grocery run. Just a really great location and facility for them. My folks really love it there!... Read more

Response from The Forum at Overland Park
June 26, 2024Thank you for your kind words. We're delighted to hear that your folks love life at The Forum at Overland Park. Our dedicated team works hard to create a warm, friendly environment for our residents and their four-legged friends -- and your positive feedback about our sense of community is much appreciated.
The Forum is a smaller assisted living facility compared to some in the OP, KS area but with that allows for individualized care. Although my mother in law was only there for a few months since her health declined quicker than expected, we were able to adjust based on her needs.

Response from The Forum at Overland Park
December 1, 2023Becky, thanks for sharing your experience at The Forum at Overland Park. It was our privilege to care for your mom during her time with us, and appreciate your compliments for the personalized care she received.
My parents had a wonderful experience in the independent living residence at The Forum. The staff was professional yet warm and attentive. There were multiple opportunities for engagement whether it be the writing club, exercise class, playing bridge, field trips to area restaurants, or even happy hour before dinner. The food was varied and very good. Moving to The Forum was one the greatest decisions they made as it allowed their last few years to be interesting and as comfortable as possible.

Response from The Forum at Overland Park
October 31, 2023Thanks Mike! It was wonderful to read that your parents thoroughly enjoyed their time at The Forum at Overland Park. We loved having them as part of the community and appreciate your kind words about life here, and are thankful for your special shout out for our team.
This is where my elderly mother has been residing for a year. Prior to moving into The Forum at Overland Park, she was dwelling at [removed] and had always focused on anything unpleasant, typically any little disease. Since coming here, she has undergone a significant shift. Since our father's passing years ago, we haven't heard Mom sound this happy. She appreciates the activities most of all, along with the cleanliness, food, and overall kindness of the employees.

Response from The Forum at Overland Park
September 13, 2023You are most welcome Cherri. We were honored that your father called The Forum at Overland Park his home and appreciate your kind words for the care that he received from our team.
I would rate each a 5. My folks love it there! I'm impressed at how well it is run and the care they are getting. The meals are nutritious, which is key as my mom didn't want to cook anymore and my stepdad is diabetic and needs the nutrition. They keep track of who is eating...if they don't show at the dining facility for 3 days in a row someone checks on them. There is a little flag on their door that security flips down at night....staff goes through the next morning to see if the flag is flipped up. Showing they have been up and out each day. If the flag is down, staff checks on them. THIS is the peace of mind that I get knowing someone is checking on them, but not being too intrusive. Every time I go there the staff and residents are so friendly....it's such a great place! One of the most important things for the folks was they could take their little dogs. They have a cute patio with outside access, perfect for the doggies!

July 26, 2023Thanks for sharing your thoughts on life at The Forum at Overland Park. We're glad to see that we've earned 5-stars from you across the board, and more importantly that your folks (and their dog) love it here! It is wonderful to read that you have peace of mind knowing that your parents are looked after, and we appreciate your kind words for everything our team does for all our residents.
My elderly mother has been living here for a year. She was residing at [removed] here at The Forum at Overland Park and had always concentrated on anything unpleasant, usually any little ailment. She has changed tremendously since moving here! We haven't heard her this pleased in years, since our father died. She enjoys the politeness of the entire staff, the cuisine, the cleanliness, and, most importantly, the activities.

Response from The Forum at Overland Park
August 1, 2022Thank you for sharing this feedback Abirra. We were thrilled to read your comments on the positive changes you've seen in your mom since she moved to The Forum. It is wonderful to see now much she loved the team, the breadth of activities and our amazing dining services. We're honored your chose The Forum at Overland Park as her new home!
I was a student here for clinicals and i do not advise sending your loved ones here if it is for a short amount of time. I saw first hand illegal activities of passing meds when the indivual was not liscended to. The care and respect for the patients is extremely low one of the lowest i’ve seen. If you want your loved ones to be respected, treated with the correct care, constantly looked after and even be in a healthy state do NOT send them here.

My mother moved into the Forum, independent living this past November. She is approaching 95. I am so glad she is here as this is a wonderful place. She has a beautiful apartment, cleaning services provided as well as 3 meals a day, plus all kinds of group activities. Everyone is absolutely wonderful -- from the maintenance men, restaurant workers, cleaning ladies, receptionists and management, It is a gigantic stress reliever for me to know she is in such good hands should she become sick, etc. Many thanks!

Our Mom lived in the independent area and it was nice. Once she was moved to assisted living all went down hill. She ended up having bowel incontinence which happens at this age and the forum staff did nothing to manage it work work with her to improve. Siad they didn't have the manpower and she must move again to skilled nursing upstairs for double the cost and a tiny hospital style room or hire in added help for 12 hours a day. We ended up leaving and moving to another assisted living who is working with her to control incontinence with diet and scheduled toileting. Unfortunate how she was treated.

We are at the Forum and they are doing a very nice job. We are impressed with all the places we looked at and how they served and presented meals. Here we are very happy with the rehab, our loved one is walking further than expected. They push her, and she may even be able to come home soon.

She is pretty happy with the housekeeping. She does say that the dryers in the laundry room, don't dry fast enough. She loves that she doesn't have to worry about food anymore. She seems to like the food, most of the time she is pretty happy with it. She loves that they have concerts. The building is getting older now, and there are some upkeep things that need work, repainting, that kind of thing, but the apartment is nice and well kept, with new paint. This was just the best fit for her, it wasn't too big, and the decor was right for her, she liked the piano. The apartment is also very open, and she could bring her furniture.

They are doing a pretty good job. The transition has been a little rough. It's very clean and the staff is really friendly. They are attentive and responsive, and if someone doesn't know the answer to a question, they will follow up with me later. A lot of the activities are geared to the women, but there are some men to socialize with. There wasn't a lot of variety to the food in the rehab section, but the assisted living area seems to have more choices. They do a relatively good job. We liked the location, and it they had a good reputation, that's why we chose them.

Enjoyed the tour of the facilities. The apartments were nice but I feel that we may not be able to work around the waiting list for a 1 bedroom that would fit my mothers needs in the facility.

A Place for Mom has scored The Forum at Overland Park 9.4 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score.
