Avenue 81

I am happy here. Nice people good care, good food adaptable staff. Nice rooms ambiance pleasant

Very much individual would ask about their situation. I picked this community because of the cost and room available. It's a nice kitchen and layout of studio apt.

The staff was friendly and building clean, but that was about the only positive. My calls were not returned, information was not provided in a timely matter, reception desk was unprofessional and I felt like my mom's care was not of highest priority. They also didn't communicate with each other and I would receive emails about unpacking her room while there was a 30-day notice of moving in place. The building was very clean and they kept my mom's room clean. When I was able to get a hold of someone or during visits I did not have any bad interactions. I believe the staff with my mom daily did the best they could but my mom regressed tremendously while in their care and has shown some improvement since being moved. I don't think they took the time to get to know her before making decisions on her care. I never had the food but my mom had no complaints. My moms continued to complain she was bored and staff stated they didn't have enough to keep her busy. The rooms were nice and kept up, but the services provided did not seem to match the fee I was paying. Since moving her to a different facility, I pay [removed] less but they keep her busy and understand what care is needed.

We liked how pretty the place is but they could hire and keep a good executive director...they went through several while dad was there. Based on the experience we had, we would not recommend Avenue 81 to other families.

Some problems getting transportation to Dr. Appointments, staff turnover and shortages? Mom is a bit of difficult personality , Dad always said she was meaner than a bucket of a-holes. Complains the food amount and quality has dropped and high turnover of support staff. In her opinion staff is slow about responding to the "help me I can't get off the floor" button. She is finding friends at Avenue 81 which is great, at the same time she isn't utilizing activities due to her mobility issues. I'm happy; from my perspective the food looks great. if she was able to get around and do more for herself her mood would improve. A Great Place for Mom. I would recommend Avenue 81, I wouldn't mind living there myself the staff seems very friendly. We enjoyed having a family cookout in the courtyard for Mother's Day.

Being told transportation to church was no problem as long as it was within a 5 miles radius helped me decide to move into Avenue 81. After the move, however, I was told transportation was not provided on Sundays. This is a very egregious offense.

The Marketing Director was what sold us on the facility. She listen and also expressed her thoughts for what would be the best. She actually listened and she had had all the answers.

What our family likes the most about the Avenue 81 community is the meals that are prepared, the staff members working there as well as the different activities they have going on. We would recommend this community to other families based on the experience we have had so far.

My loved one is currently a resident at Avenue 81 and overall her experience at this facility has been good. I recommend Avenue 81 to others, but as with most other senior living places, the staff changes out. Avenue 81 has had an especially hard time with the Director of Activities and the top nurses. The CNA's at Avenue are really really good. They have a Chef that organizes the kitchen, therefore, the food is fantastic.

They have high quality staff. They could accommodate my respite need for 5 days. No one else could. Place is super nice, excellent food and service. Great activities. Affordable.Utilize it. Excellent.

They keep the facility very clean. If there are unpleasant odors they clean them up immediately. Other places I've visited an odor is prevalent and unlikely to go away. They will call me with any problems and willing to work them out. This facility is very expensive and hopefully the service will keep up with the cost!

This facility had a modern contemporary, almost cosmopolitan feel and look to it. Uplifting and not stuffy. That stood out to us. Sales, Administrative, Dining and Medical/Assistant staff were communicative and cooperative. Always willing to discuss needs promptly and courteously. Activities are offered daily. Housekeeping is one to two times a week. The overall cleanliness of the facility was excellent. I would recommend them to family and friends.

Our loved one really likes all the different activities they have going on there - they take the residents our weekly on shopping and grocery trips. They watch all of the Chiefs football games together and he has started going to their gym and doing different exercises classes, and they have social happy hours. Plenty of opportunities to stay involved. He really likes all the people there and based on our experience so far we would recommend Avenue 81 to other families.

Their patient care, nursing and Drs. Now that I look back I wish they would of offered 24 hour nursing care. I would of paid extra to get it but didn't realize that is what we needed until it was to late. We needed better patient care. I want to add that [name removed] was definitely a asset to the community. She had quit about halfway through our stay there. We were lost without her. [name removed] was very helpful and I trusted her but after it was to late. She did help us finalize everything. Doesn't matter about the name. it's really a great community, my mom likes it here. they're friendly and it's small, so it feels more like a home. you get to know all the residents. the facility itself is also very nice. the only thing that could use some improvement is the communication. it's good when I ask and they are very forthcoming; but I don't always know everything. maybe if my mom is doing fine they don't see a reason to contact me (and may not want to bother me), but I would appreciate more frequent updates without me having to ask. I'm also unsure if they've rehired a new activities director, they lost theirs a few weeks ago. so I'm unsure how many activities the residents are participating in.

Avenue 81 gives my loved ones a home life experience, and they've had the social ability to mingle with other residents so they don't feel like they're isolated. There are amenities where residents can visit a library or go to other food places/kiosks there in the facility. They have activities that keep their minds busy and give them a purpose. The place is spotless as well. My loved ones have been able to keep their pet, and they're able to get outside for fresh air and not have a claustrophobic atmosphere. The staff have been wonderful with them. Even with the pet's temperament and occasional accidents, they're just wonderful group of people. With my loved ones' memory problems and behaviors/confusion, they're so patient and directive. And they're so kind with my family. They treat my family like they would treat their family - very loving and caring. And they make my family feel at home.
