The Atrium is a good place to live. The atmosphere here is open and friendly. The design of the building adds to that, hence the name- The Atrium. It's a 7 story building and there are 2 sections in between with glass elevators. All of the apartment hallways open up to the atrium. One of the comforts to us is that if we get sick we don't have to move to another facility, we can stay here and move from Independent Living to Assisted Living. I've seen that side and heard a lot about it and it's all been good things. The food in the middle of a transition, so I rated that a little lower. That's probably the biggest problem that we've had here, the menu change from the food service that the facility uses. It hasn't gone well, but they're slowly but surely improving it. The overall quality of the food is quite good, salads are good, and the soup is to die for. I don't go a meal without also having soup. The Tomato Bisque is the best! There's always dessert and a soup of the day. There are so many activities and things to stay busy (book club, bridge group etc) and outings to the casino, to the dog park with our pets, and to other local places (Louisburg Cider Mill, Men's Day out/lunch at Hooters, etc). Whatever is going on around town, there's usually a planned trip/busing available to attend the event. I feel very welcomed and appreciated here. The staff knows us by name and make it a point to be familiar with us. In the mornings, they'll watch the glass elevators and see who is coming down to dining. They know us and what we like and they have our preferences ready for us (coffee or tea made how we like it, etc). Our apartment is really nice. The building used to be a hotel, but they converted it nicely to Independent and Assisted Living. It's quiet and we don't hear noise from our neighbors. They have plenty of parking and allow pets. They decorate beautifully for holidays. It's affordable, also. Before moving here, my husband and I still had a mortgage. That said, it's still more cost effective for us to live here than it was to live at home WITH our mortgage. This community is a good mix of mostly Protestant, Catholic, and Jewish faiths and residents are open and respectful to all. We have 3 residents whom are Priests and have daily Mass. Even from our tour, the atmosphere of this facility really stuck out to us. Residents are active/interactive and open minded. I'm an extrovert and my husband is not, but it's a great fit for both of us which is really great! I have and will continue to recommend them to family and friends. I'd also like to add for others, during your search don't be afraid to negotiate cost with any place. There's always room for negotiation, especially with moving 2 residents in versus one, activity fees, and monthly specials. A filled apartment is much more profitable than a vacant one. It's a business when it comes to cost and you have to approach it as such.... Read more

Things are just great here, it's a village. My wife and I live here together. There's lots of different people to get to know and share things with. It's a very welcoming community, older building. The staff is very friendly and helpful and does what they're supposed to do. Housekeeping is very good and done once a week. They have a checklist for cleaning requests and are happy to complete those. They also offer laundry service for an extra fee. The meals are a work in progress. There are plenty of activities. Overall, everything is just as well as it can be here. We have a swimming pool, gym, daily mass (we have three Priests that are residents here), and social gatherings that are organized by the residents. It's been very satisfactory here. I would recommend them to friends and family, if you can afford it.

The Atrium at Overland Park gave us a great tour experience. The reason we did not choose this facility was because it has multiple levels and my loved one is scared of elevators - so that was going to be an issue. I also felt it just was not as homey as another facility that we were considering.
The Atrium has been a great experience so far, occasionally the staff may have a slight attitude but what they lack is made up for by the communities environment. Our loved one has a blood sugar issue and she has been really happy with the meals it is a big improvement. She is engaged a lot more and is surrounding herself with some really great people. The activities are good.

Our family had an in person tour and it was very clean, well organized and the people were friendly. They have access to a pool which we really liked, but there was not much of a courtyard our outside space for the residents.
Food could have been better. For the value it is a very good place. It was built as a hotel so it is open inside so the hallways are nice and bright. They have lots of activities going on. They staff is good.

We went on the tour here and the people were really nice and seemed caring. It was nice and clean. They had lots of daily activities. It was just not modern or up to date. They answered all of my questions. We are just looking around right now.

I toured this community and [Removed] was very nice and knowledgeable. But I didn't like it it was really old and dirty to me. It needs updating and some TLC. The apartments were small and had no stove in them. It reminded me of an old folks home.

Was very pleasant surprised! The owner-operater met with me and explained the history and operation of the Atrium. She greeted numerous residents by name as well as their family & truly cared. The activities and dining were all out in the open atrium. Saw the hair salon, painting class and an ice cream parlor. very nice apartments. Some on the ground floor that opened to patios and grass. So nice for pets. Absolutely no odors. It was all beautiful.

I just love [Removed]. She and her staff make this place so special. Lots of love and activities for all. Everyone seemed so busy and happy to be there. The facility is not the newest, but I don’t think that is important. Great views out the rooms. They only concern that I have, is that they will not accept Medicaid in the event my parents’ funds are depleted.

I had a very nice tour of this community. Everyone was kind and helpful. The community is very nice looking. You could tell they do a good job with the cleanliness of the facility. All my questions were answered, and this was one of my top picks. The location of the community was a little far for my family to travel too, but this is a lovely place.

The tour went well. The community is very clean and nice. The actually apartments were set up like a hotel. From the living room view there is no outside view and it seems dark. The apartment did not have any area for storage.

We were very impressed with The Atrium at Overland Park and were seriously considering placing our parents here. The deal breaker was that my father-in-law uses an electric wheelchair due to the fact he is a double amputee. They cannot allow electric wheelchairs in the facility. We were as was Lucille very disappointed we could not place our parents. But other than that particular issue the facility was very beautiful and the residents are very social and active. We were very impressed. I only give 4 stars due to the electric wheelchair limitation

So far our experience with The Atrium at Overland Park has been a very good one! It's our first experience with placing a loved one in a community like this so I don't have much to compare it to, but so far we haven't been disappointed! The staff here is friendly and professional, and they seem to take great care of the residents!

I can not think of anything that The Atrium at Overland Park can improve. Everything the staff has done for us so far has been just fine. My loved one is in independent living, so they offer some services like coming in and cleaning once a week and washing the linens and so forth, but I guess we just expected a little more in that area.
