Our family had an in person tour with the Aberdeen Village community, and overall we thought they did a very good job on the tour so it was a good experience.
I've had a good experience with the community. I would recommend to others to make sure you understand all the levels of care. Please make sure to ask about how independent living works when the resident needs a nursing/medical procedure for an immediate injury.

The tour of Aberdeen Village was nice. The rooms were much smaller than we wanted for our loved one. The cost was higher than another community in the area.
The community is on lockdown so you cant visit right now. I would not recommend this community

Very clean and well organized. We had lunch with a friend who lives there and food was very good. She loves the facility. Lots of activities for those who are interested. Like the fact that all three levels of care plus rehab are on premises.

Aberdeen Village personnel and in-particular [name removed] have been incredibly helpful in preparing my parents for the move from their home to a senior living community.

Love the picture of the kitchen on this page--they are not all updated like this. I think my mom's is original to the building--pretty old. There's also old white linoleum in her bathrooms. Do NOT move in until everything is to your satisfaction in your apartment. Also, make sure you read the fine print as to when your money is returned after you move out. Moving to a different apartment is a problem if it's in a better location (or has been updated. You're pretty much stuck. Security has been an issue as doors are not locked--even overnight. The on-call staff has not been trained adequately in dealing with whatever issues might come up OR in dealing with residents and guests with respect. The dining room staff is terrific as is the custodial staff. Management is a problem and does not return phone calls in good time.

It has been an adjustment, however things are going well now. The other residents are friendly. The staff is great and the food is really good. The activities are good and we like that they have a pool. They offer physical therapy. The community is clean and I would recommend it.

just facts My 94 year old mom was not allowed to go to bed when she wanted to go to bed even after the death of her husband....period---had to wait cause not enough staff.... my dad left building within two weeks of arriving....he had on a wander guard----aberdeen couldn't find him ==police found him at the quick trip----management told me he was "too fast"!!!! He was 90 NO they were too slow....and interim nurse blamed my mom and I saying we brought a wanderer that is NOT true....i did NOT see aberdeen take responsibility each and every time something happens that is clearly their fault....when dad was found in seven hours of caked bowel they did take responsibility...but just think on that..... many very nice aides--not enough of them...except medicine left in my moms room on several occasions...also found my dad sitting in a dark room for over an hour facing a blank door---he couldn't walk or talk and was on hospice...when i told management the way it was handled was very upsetting...i had a video of it...i am a retired speech pathologist...i do NOT recommend this place--so many agency nurses...ask yourself WHY is that?

I toured both the assisted living and the skilled nursing areas at this facility, and was very impressed. Everything is extremely clean and well-kept, and the staff seemed friendly and helpful. There seem to be quite a few private skilled nursing rooms, and in the assisted living area the bathrooms were huge- great for wheelchairs.

Response from Aberdeen Village a CCRC
December 1, 2015Thank you for touring Aberdeen Village. We hope you found what you were looking for.
This is a skilled nursing, but also an assisted living facility, very expensive, but it was excellent. The staff was wonderful! They had dining facilities for family members to come and eat with their loved one. The surroundings of the facility were newer and nicer and better kept than others. The staff had been there as long as the facility, 12-15 years, so that spoke volumes as far as the loyalty of the staff, and for their ability to keep their staff happy.

A Place for Mom has scored Aberdeen Village a CCRC 8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
