If a friend asked me, I would say several residents did not like the food. My mom hated 95% of the food. And food / cooking had been one of her passions. The community is kind and welcoming and I think the activities were good. I felt some staff were superficial.I think the price was high. I think there should be a meals option in their pricing structure. My mom hated almost everything she got from the kitchen. My parents have been in IL for over two years and the food keeps getting worse. Also the maintenance staff has changed multiple times and takes shortcuts to keep HVAC units working because they all have aged out and need replaced at a cost that would impact management bonuses. It’s such an attractive facility but just not optimally managed. They are always short on staff but that’s the environment of senior care these days.

My loved one is currently a resident at Village on the Park Onion Creek. Overall, everything about the experience has been great so far at this facility. The cleanliness and friendliness are great. The staff and quality of care are also great. My loved one chooses not to participate in the activities, but I do know that there are a lot that are offered. I would recommend this facility to family and friends.

Response from Village on the Park Onion Creek
August 11, 2023Hi there! Thank you so much for your feedback. We are happy you have had a good experience with our community and appreciate your recommendation!
We toured Village on the Park Onion Creek during our search for an Independent Living facility for our loved one. This facility was actually my first choice, bbut was just a little too out of distance for other family members. The cleanliness and friendliness were great!

July 24, 2023Hi there! Thank you for your review! We're so glad you had a positive experience with our staff and community.
Right now they are understaffed. The maintenance team and the kitchen team need more help. It seems that several residents don't like the food, including my loved one. The vegetables are almost always undercooked. My loved one hasn't been able to get any hot water for a couple of weeks. However, it is a very clean and safe community. But I feel like what we were promised is not what we are receiving.

It really feels like A small family run business. The same people are in the dining hall each week. The same concierge. The same Two ladies that clean everything. The smallness and closeness of the community is really nice. A nurse practitioner from Austin geriatrics comes and visits every two weeks to my moms room. And we also have physical therapy and occupational therapy that come to her room. And the space is gorgeous

My loved one seems to be doing well. It has been a pretty smooth transition for her. I think it's a really big plus that each apartment has its own outdoor patio with two access points - one from the hallway and one from the apartment. The food is good, although they've had to change up the mealtime routine as well as the activities routine a lot due to instances of Covid.

Our tour at Village on the Park was really nice. The facility was newer and really nice. It was a single floor, which we liked. The food was really good too. We almost went with them.
Our family had an in person tour and it was a really good first impression but the major reason I did not choose Village on the Park, was because they do not integrate their assisted living residents with the senior living residents.
The community has lots of activities, including bingo, crafts, movies, and happy hour on Fridays. The community is very clean and the staff is so friendly and compassionate. They also have assisted living in this community too. I would recommend this community to others based on my experience.

I toured Village on the Park and it was a very nice facility and I liked the layout of it. The reason I did not go with this one was because they require sit down meals and that is not something that I wanted to do.
It is a great place to move a loved one into. The attention to detail, and willing to assist the residents and families are a few things that stand out to me. The room is very nice, spacious, and all new amenities for my loved one.

Village on the Park was great my mom loved it here. They have a ton of activities to choose from and my mom was doing them every day. We chose this because the overall facility was very beautiful and when we toured the residents all looked very happy and that they were having fun there. She was looking for a place with friendly residents and staff and this fit the bill. They really encourage families to come visit when they have parties and big activities when they are able which really stuck out to us. I would absolutely recommend.

The facilities were very bright and inviting. Everything is on the ground floor. The staff was very nice and informative. This senior living facility is all inclusive and even gives all residents a monitor to wear for their safety. We were very impressed and my mother-in-law is happy and signed on right away.

Small community of assisted living residents. Family-like atmosphere. My Mom has made great friends here and is well taken care of, without being pushed to do things she doesn’t want to do. Very friendly and caring staff. I can’t think of anything she needs, or that I wish they’d be better at.

The tour was nice. The staff were helpful and answered all my questions. This place seemed very corporate. It had no trees and it was in the boonies there was nothing around it to go shopping. they kept telling my in-law's that they would feel like they were on a cruise all the time or on vacation but they wanted a home not a hotel. Needless to say we chose elsewhere.

Village on the Park appears to be a loving an welcoming senior community. We were greeted by friendly staff and given a nice tour. They are a smaller community with a great activity schedule.

This facility was one of my first choices when I was looking for an assisted living home for my mom. The thing that I really liked about it was that there's assisted and independent living in the same facility, which means you don't have to move your loved one in the event that things change for them. The head nurse there is amazing and was willing to answer any questions I had. I would've chosen this place if it hadn't been for the location. It was just a bit too far from me but I would recommend this community.
