We picked this community because, my loved one was getting out of rehab and couldn't go back to her house. They could get us in. Overall OK. Price is high.

It was 1 of 3 that had an opening and said that they would come up with a plan to get my dad bathing. It was the only one my dad was willing to look at. They said that they regularly monitored to make sure that staff responded to call buttons within 5 minutes, but we have found that they only check response times if there is a complaint. Building a relationship with management staff has been important to address issues related to care.

Satisfaction dropped rapidly after move to memory care area. I don't think they ever dusted & carpet only got vacuumed once/week. Bathrooms needed cleaned more than 1/week. Most would at least say hi or bob their head at you. The care services sucked in memory care. Many evening & night shifts only had 1 aide for entire 20-22 residents. Activities -almost nonexistent, unless you call coloring books an activity. One of the directors painted nails at least twice a week. Two activity directors quit while MOM was in MC. I see I forgot meals/dining- the assisted living side was a 3. Same menu a lot. Soups were not hot & grilled cheese had 1 slice of American cheese in it. the memory care gets a 2. Very unappealing meals. Overcooked & mushy. Certain aides made sure my Mom got lettuce salad with ranch when available & ice cream almost every meal. We brought meals in for Mom a lot!! Marketing manager promised lots of things, then she left, so nothing she promised materialized. Director of Wellness is a lying sob. I was in her office almost monthly complaining about the al a carte services my mom was charged for. My Mom fell 13 documented times in 9 months there. These resulted in a fractured fibula & wrist (different falls). The last 2 falls in 3 nights, killed her. Overall, I would Not recommend Brookdale (now The Terrace) to my worst enemy.

There are bad odors in facility. Father fell in front of staff and they just stood around to see if he would get up on his own. I would give it a 0 if that was an option. Food is TERRIBLE. For the amount we were charged his care should have been better, food should be better and staff should be more caring. It's SHAMEFUL. We removed my father and he is now in a nice facility, with better staff, it's cleaner, the food is better and he is safe. And it is costing a little bit less. I wouldn't recommend Brookdale to anyone.

Our loved one is in memory care and they do not have any activities going on which is why we did not give it a rating. The cost is more than what was quoted at the beginning. Getting in and out of the unit takes o lot of time, however based on the experience so far I would recommend this community to other families. .

A retired medical doctor who happened to fall in the apartment. Person felt 3 ribs broken BUT the medical folks just told the person was not right! The person wanted to go to the hospital. In a car he called to EMTs and he was taken to the hospital where the x-rays showed three broken ribs. He was taken to a nursing home where he has recuperated. Much better and walking well!

The blinds are dusty, the toilet leaks and the faucets sprays everywhere. The quality of the care service depends on who is working that shift. The dining room is ok, the meals have no taste and combination's are weird. The new activities director hasn't got all her activities planned yet. The new bill is more than double what I was told. Need explanation.

With our experience at Brookdale Fort Wayne, we feel that they need to improve on all areas a lot. We felt as if fees were not transparent, care was lacking, food wasn't very good. Just a poor overall experience for my parents.

Response from The Terrace at Fort Wayne
August 3, 2023We are sorry to hear we did not meet your expectations and we appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. The health and well-being of our residents is our top priority and we have shared your concerns with our management team for review.
[name removed] whose office is in memory care area has a unique talent for working with the residents as a group and as individuals, also their families. Brookdale is fortunate to to have [name removed] and other staff at this facility!I had visited them several months prior when my family began to look and as one of the places on a list by 'A Place for Mom. We had stopped the search per my mom. Later we found that mem care was needed. We made contact with Brookdale remembering size (small) which was one factor and also met {name removed] and other staff. [name removed] who is local marketing was able to key in on our needs and concerns, and I must say represents their facility well.

It's a nice small community. I think someone is inclined to participate in activities (which my dad was not) then they might prefer a larger community. I thought their food seemed good and the staff was very accommodating.

Brookdale Fort Wayne is a very nice place. We were going back on forth on this facility, it was our second choice. The only downfall was the rooms were just studio rooms, they did not have any one bedrooms. My loved ones did not like the layout.
They have a court yard where residents can go weather permitting, my dad loves out the outdoors. We had a positive experience and would highly recommend Brookdale Fort Wayne to others.

I'll just start out by saying I generally don't give out perfect scores (5) as no one is perfect. So when ya get a 4 from me it's very good. So....Staff have been very helpful. Mom still rather not be there but that is based more on her wanting to be at house she lived in for 58 years! Not Brookdale fault. She does like staff etc and is healthier than we've seen her for at least a couple of years.

We toured with Brookdale Fort Wayne and it was just okay. I did not feel like they offered near as much as some of the other facilities that we visited, especially for the price.
[Name removed] is very happy with Brookdale and he enjoys the staff and the care he is receiving. The community, staff, is easy to work with. They provide a newsletter each moth to keep me informed. They also call when something comes up and needs to be addressed.

Our tour at Brookdale Fort Wayne was okay. You can kind of tell they're a chain. It seemed just average. My loved one probably would have been fine there, but compared to the place we chose that absolutely blew us away, it just didn’t compare.

June 22, 2022We appreciate you taking the time to visit and share your feedback. We are committed to quality service and care and will review your feedback with our management team.
There’s a lot of problems with the homes because of Covid underpaid staff and not having the workforce to properly staff the homes and staff turnover rates also rates keep going up with inflation
