I Would Not Recommend

My loved one fell down the stairs and ended up in the hospital for a week. I thought that door was locked all the time for safety issues before we moved him in. It was not and my loved one had gone through a door and fell down the stairs into the cement basement and suffered a brain bleed and broken ribs. The facility never called me during this incident or to tell me he was taken to the hospital. They claimed to call my home phone once and not my cell phone. They did not call our emergency numbers. I found out 3 days later from the hospital staff. We decided to move him. The hospital reported them and after this the state licensing approved that same door to their garage to have a 15 second delay before opening.

The care services at this community could use some improvements

Due to COVID no one has been able to go back to the community and visit, but when we initially moved our loved one it, it was very clean. She says they do come and help clean her room during the week. To us, the staff members have been very friendly when we speak to them over the phone. Sometimes our loved one presser her call button and it takes awhile for the residents to respond. She will have to call us, letting us know that no one is coming to help, so we have to reach them on their main line and let a staff member know our loved one is needing help. Our loved one says they never really get her out of her room and take her on the patio. It is hard with COVID, but recently they have been allowing the residents to go out and watch TV or eat in the dining room, but our loved one says no one comes to get her and take her to the dining room to eat her food.

Highly Recommended!!

My loved one is doing great here so far. compare to the Brookdale she was at before, this place is a great improvement. The food is very good. The staff are all very friendly and accommodating. They don't have organized activities, but they have an exercise program and my loved one is still ver active so she enjoys that. The place is very nice, especially for the price.

A Place for Mom has scored The Sugarbush Manor 7 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
