I think the concept of semi independent living with a sliding scale for additional services (assistance bathing, medication management, etc) is an excellent concept. However, it was a huge issue to have the home health service only accept original Medicare. I had to cancel my dad's health insurance and sign him up for original Medicare. His renal failure made it impossible to get a supplement. I met with the home health manager before moving my dad. She is in the business and should have known that this would happen. Also, the hospice agency they used was a nightmare. I worked as a hospice volunteer during my nursing career, and I have never seen anything like what this agency did to me and my dad. It was truly unbelievable. I think the clinical staff were doing the best they could. I felt the two young men who were the administrators were not experienced in running this type of organization. I am sure, with time, they will be fine. However, we felt the impact of the administration's learning curve. I do recommend the facility to others, but only if they are healthy enough to obtain supplemental insurance and only if they require minimal assistance with ADL's.... Read more

I LOVE IT!! My grandma has settled in amazing. She has met so many new wonderful people and has so many more friends. I definitely recommend this. She is doing fabulous. They take great care of her!! I am so happy for them because now they always have something to do. On Sundays they always go to mass up in the chapel on the 3rd floor and it is gorgeous. If you want the best care possibly come here!

While it is a beautiful facility with much potential, the Memory Care Unit is severly lacking. One person monitors all the residents. This single person is to do the laundry, serve and clean up after the meals, shower and toilet all the residents. The meals are brought in from the main dining room on a cart and are usually cold by the time they are served. While there are scheduled activities in the attached assisted living wing the Mem. Care residents can go to, they aren't appropriate activities for them. There are zero planned group activities or mental stimulation gear towards their needs. As I said, it's a beautiful facility and the tour was wonderful... we were so excited but were severly disappointed by the reality of the day to day goings on in tbe Memory Care Unit.

Amazing place to live. They do lots of activities with the residents. Very caring and loving caregivers. It is comforting to know mom is being taken care of when I leave to go home.

My mom moved into the Reserves in [Date removed] and has settled right in. She says they have "the best chef of all." She has become very fond of some of her caregivers who demonstrate care, patience and an obvious love of their job. Thank you to [Name removed] who is the most loving and enthusiastic Activities Director.

A Place for Mom has scored The Reserves at Idlewild 9.4 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
