We had a very good experience. Value for cost is difficult because it is expensive but all the facilities we visited were about the same. I gave Philomena 5s, however, we started to see the evidence of standards lowering due to the director bringing in employees from her prior facility(ies). The individual that we thought was one of the best employees and who treated my mother in an exemplary way was fired after we left. This individual had a feeling he was going to be fired.... I would probably say that no where is perfect but everything at Philomena is satisfactory and they seem to want to make everyone's experience a good one. It's a nice, cheery facility and the rooms are comfortable. The executive staff seemed more willing to accommodate my mom's needs. They were very accepting of her.

I fell in love with this place, was going to call it mom’s new home. Within a month she wasn’t being given all her meds. Her 90 day supply of meds lasted her til August, but not the pain meds… Their promise to be in the room in 4 minutes is not accurate we were luckily if it was 10 minutes. There were a handful of aides, med tech and employees that were exceptional but that does matter when it comes to the safety of your loved one. The director gets you in the door and is great the first 2-3 weeks then doesn’t say a word to you, as if you are bothering her. [name removed] is amazing, so kind and really is a genuine person who cares for the residents. He will always go above and beyond and will try to answer all your questions when the director never reaponds back. Please consider sending your loved one here. They have no type of system and residents have left the premises without supervision. And unless you are in control of the medication definitely don’t let them have control of it!!!

September 26, 2024Thank you for your feedback, Tanya. We take all concerns seriously and work hard to maintain the health and well-being of our residents. Please reach out to our VP of Senior Living, Britta, directly at bedwards@journeymangroup.com to discuss your concerns and to find a resolution. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
Most of the employees are friendly and professional. The ED was extremely friendly before we signed with Philomena. Afterwards, it seemed as though we didn’t exist. Any issues we have had were corrected.

My loved one was previously a resident at The Philomena and the experience was mostly great. Aside from the food, which was okay. The value for cost was good, though I don't really know what is out there to compare it to. Overall, I would recommend The Philomena to others.

My family needed to unfortunately get my dad in a nursing home because of a series of falls and his advancing Parkinson’s. We did our due diligence and visited 4 homes with the Philomena checking all the boxes, close to our house, new facility, seemed like a caring environment. We were very wrong. The level of care was not only poor, at times, it was non-existent. Small things like my dads clothes missing, not being dressed right or wearing others clothes. To larger issues like breaking equipment (bed and wheelchair) to as bad as not help feed him meals and missing administering essential medication to him. The staff was just as bad, [name removed], head of nursing, was not helpful, did not know the first thing about care and after numerous corrective meetings still did not correct level of care. A warning for all people looking into this facility. Do not subject your loved ones to neglect. It got so bad for us we needed to bring my dad home and set up our house for in home care.

Staff are super friendly, they care about the residents. They call regularly with updates and questions. They make a real effort to get to know each residents' likes and dislikes. My mom is a picky eater. The staff regularly make her cheeseburgers when she doesn't like the offered dish. It is always clean and well staffed. Residents are well cared for and always dressed and clean. Rooms are clean and each is decorated individually. You can call or text the management at any time with questions or issues.

Right as Mom moved in the Exec. Dir. was replaced. Several of the issues discussed with the previous E.D. have not been accurate. Our issues: 1)They do not make the beds everyday as we were told. 2)Laundry is not picked up on the same day each week, occasionally not at all. 3) The few movies they have played in their small theater have not been of interest to elderly. 4) They do not recycle. The food was exceptional at first, but is not always even room temperature. A new chef has been hired; several changes have been tried. Overall, it is the best. We have had a number of issues; but still feel it is the best. Bright, clean, and friendly staff! The staff is great. We especially like [name removed] who runs the front office. She is always friendly, and she follows through on promises!

Med management, art, exercise, social events. On-site medical support. On-site beauty salon. Rides to off-site appointments and local shopping, and etc. I would recommend to others, and I already have.

April 25, 2023Thank you very much for your kind and detailed review about our community! Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you or your family.
It is very clean, and everyone from the Director to the housekeeper are all so helpful. It has everything in house like a hairstylist, pedicure, physician assistant, and mobile x-ray/blood, and therapy. So I only need to take my husband out of the facility for doctor visits to a medical specialists. I would recommend The Philomena, I am here every day visiting.

The Philomena community is clean, bright and it does not make you feel like you are entering into a senior living facility - it has a really happy feeling to it. The dining facilities are just fabulous and there is an extra dining room where the families can come and ding with their loved ones there. Especially with covid we have utilized it a lot. The staff has really gone out of their way to make things inclusive with the families and we comment them for that. Based on the experience we have had so far we would recommend this community to others.

I looked at a lot of facilities and the price here was lower than most other places for what you got and it is a brand new facility. When we started the whole process, [name removed], the intake guy was a wonderful man and made everything go very smoothly. He was amazing with my dad and he is great at what he does. My dad is very happy here which I was not expecting. I would absolutely recommend them to others looking.

We chose The Philomena because of the layout of the building it is all on one story. My loved one has a care plan and it did not get followed which is why the care got a 3. There is not good follow through when they make promises on the care plans. Every time I go, there are things that are not done that should have been. When I let people know, I get no response. It is frustrating when we pay the amount of money that we do and are not getting the care that is needed. My dad does absolutely love the caregivers that come in and knows all of their names, the individual people are great it is just the communication as a whole is where the issue lies. My dad is super happy here, there are just some things that I think need improvements.

Our family had an in person tour and all the staff members were helpful and adhered to the covid protocols. The community was nice but just to far location wise.
The meals are good but due to the turnover rate the dining service is a little slow. The appearance of the community it outstanding, it is fairly new so the cleanliness really stood out to us on our tour. The friendliness of the PR lady was really good. The staff even given the current circumstances have been really good.

My mother was one of the first residents at Philomena and has had a wonderful experience. It's a beautiful facility with wonderful caring staff, and tasty meals. When Covid began Philomena staff had to take over all of my mother's care that I had been overseeing. I felt like they really knew my mom's needs and treated her in a loving manner. I know they worked very long hours going above and beyond what was their normal duties. I'm deeply grateful for the way they treated my mom and kept her healthy and safe. Now that I am able to return, she looks happy and healthy. She has been at Philomena for a little over a year and I know she considers it her home..

A Place for Mom has scored The Philomena 8.6 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
