Our family had an in person tour with Alexis Pointe and we loved this community. However it was about [fee removed] more per month and they talked to our loved one sort of like she was a child.

I think some of this was due to her attitude. She didn't want to be there. She just wanted to go home and wasn't going to be happy until she got her way. We were paying [amount removed] for the highest level of care but I don't know if they are really set up for the level of care she needed. We now have a live in caregiver and the care she's getting is 100x better than what she received at Alexis Point. Most of the staff did show care and support and I really appreciated that. It's a beautiful clean facility but wasn't what she needed.

When you walk into Alexis Pointe, you feel like you are walking into a warm home with a loving family. The staff take wonderful care of the residents as if they were, in fact, their own family. The building is absolutely beautiful with a lovely courtyard in the middle. I work with many residents that live at Alexis Pointe and they have been so very happy living there. It is such a weight off of my shoulders to know that they are being cared for, fed well, entertained with wonderful activities, and most of all, the staff is in constant communication with me about their needs. I couldn't recommend it more.

May 27, 2022Julie, thank you for your fantastic feedback! It is an honor to care for your loved one here at Alexis Pointe. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you and your family.
They are a lovely facility with great caregivers. However, BEWARE, If your loved one is an Alzheimer's resident, they will not necessarily keep them until "end of life" as they assured us they would do. Their website claims to "provide specialized care for ALL stages of dementia" and accommodate "two person transfer", yet as soon as my 100lb mother could not support her own body weight, and it took two caregivers to move her, they wanted me to move her out. We were told when we signed our contract, that we would never have to move our mother and that she could die there. They spent the last two months of my mothers life and time there, coming up with every kind of excuse to not keep her. It seems, based on everything I know and researched, they didn't want to hire or train additional staff to deal with someone who requires the extra care. Anyone who has a parent with Alzheimer's, should not use a Civitas facility and search elsewhere.

In general, it's a nice place to be. Their turnover seems to be pretty rampant - they've gone through 2 to 3 general maintenance workers. That would be my only thing to keep in mind. They just need to get that settled and get the proper employees in place for residents to get the full benefit. I like their willingness to listen to the tenants. They seem to have fairly regular sessions to hear any resident concerns, which I think is good. They do extra little special things. For instance, for my loved one's birthday, they asked if she wanted a special birthday dinner. They try to do extra touches which is nice. The food has been okay, above average. Under the current Covid circumstances, they walk the food on a cart to each unit. My loved one is in the independent side, which is a system of induvial units that surround the facility. By the time the food gets there, it's pretty cold and needs to be reheated. That's no fault of theirs, I guess. There has also been some cook personnel turnover. But recently within the last week or so, they have a new cook who seems to be pretty darn good. Activities have been less than I would like to see, but again, that is likely due to Covid.

Due to COVID-19, this is an unusually difficult time for families who have loved ones in assisted living/skilled nursing facilities. My LO has only been in this facility for 3 months. It’s a first time for us so I have nothing to compare the care or management to but we have had some difficulties to say the least. There’s been a lot of turnover in both management & some in caregivers. Mostly management it seems. It would be a much better time to give a review if we weren’t in a pandemic. From what I can tell not being able to go inside to see for myself is that, for the most part, the caregivers do a good job. My LO has complained frequently about a lack of entertainment & activities which has more than likely been considerably affected by the pandemic. She hasn’t been happy that she still isn’t able to go out of the facility for a day trip now & again which, again, is not the fault of the facility. They seem to be a bit understaffed & some employees have had to double up & work longer hours to compensate. I believe the fact that they just opened in February, then the pandemic took off, & they’ve had quite a bit of turnover in management positions has resulted in less than cohesive management practices & am hoping with a little more time & experience combined with getting this virus under control & allowing family & friends back in & the residents out for excursions, the situation will improve.
