They are doing very well. The aides are wonderful and so are the nurses. Also, the therapy department is terrific, that's one of the reasons we came back. The only thing that happens is sometimes with dietary, they don't always give you what you requested. The rooms are terribly, terribly small but anything that's spilled they clean up immediately.

Response from The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Queens
September 5, 2019Thank you for sharing your experience here at The Grand, we really appreciate it.
The rehab is excellent. The therapists are phenomenal! The nursing care is improving but they're understaffed. It took a long time to see changes and improvements with the things that have not been good. The floors are clean but the garbage should be taken out more than it is. I speak to all of them, all the therapists, the social workers, and the nurses. They're great at communication!

September 5, 2019Thank you for choosing The Grand. We appreciate your support.
The service wasn't what I had expected. The communication and the service is very poor. When my loved one first got there, I thought it would be much better than its wound up being. I expected her to get more therapy than she got. The staff doesn't get her out of bed or clean her up regularly. They do a good job when they do it, but I keep getting told that they're short-staffed and not everyone can get timely help. The facility is clean. I haven't noticed any bugs, or it being filthy. The only communication is when I call, and the questions I ask aren't answered properly. The only communication I get from them is about payments or money, nothing about changes in her care, behavior, or condition. When I do call, whoever I need to talk to is busy and I never get a callback. I finally stopped calling and just send a family member over to visit.

I would recommend The Grand. I have to tell you, 15 years ago, we used The Grand for my husband. We came back here because we had a good stay then. Nothing has really changed and we are overall pleased with them again. For the most part, they have all been friendly. I mean the nurses are not bad and there are more attentive but it varies. There is always room for improvement! It is pretty clean.

My loved one was supposed to be walked every day, and she wasn't. As a result, her health deteriorated. The nurses were really hard to get a hold of.

We love the Grand. My husband is like a celebrity there. This is not our first time here but we are very pleased. The nursing care is good and the staff is very, very friendly. They could do better with the meals and maybe change up the meals some.

The staff is super friendly and they talk to me all the time. Any little thing and they're calling me. I constantly see them cleaning every day. I've spoken to them about my loved one's meal plan and making changes to what he likes to eat, instead of what they had been giving him.

Of all of the other places my brother has been to, the Grand has been the best. The staff is very friendly! I appreciate the time that one of the ladies spent with my brother. She is a very calm person and she speaks the same language. It is super clean and he eats all of his meals!

A friend recommended it to me and it has been pretty good. My loved one loves the service and physical therapy, the only complaint she has had, is the food. I think she is doing great with the rehab therapy. The nurses are good overall but sometimes they are late with her medications. It's very clean. The rooms are clean and just walking around, it doesn't have that nursing home smell. I would say they are pretty good with communication.

It is very clean! They are on top of the cleanliness. The engineers keep things running there, like the air conditioner and kitchen. They adjust your meals according to your condition. I barely see a nurse and the doctors need to communicate better. Overall, they are doing very well but my loved one is having problems getting a specific walker.

The communication is okay but it could be better. My mom would like some of the staff who speak her language to help communicate about my dad's care, but it seems like she has a difficult time getting the staff to do this. They are encouraging her more to seek her own translation services.

The speech pathologist, the social worker, and caseworker are very nice and friendly. I have not been able to speak to one doctor the entire duration my dad has been there. The speech pathologist called me yesterday and was very kind, and the caseworker has called me too. I made an appointment with the head nurse, who is very pleasant, and the doctor but neither showed up. I tried to make another appointment and nobody has helped me with that. They need to clean his room more. I went into my dad's room and there was food all over the floor.

The nursing care needs to improve. I have to constantly call because my loved one's medication is always administered two hours late.
