The Golden is a beautifully designed facility. With some people who are obviously professional and wanting to do the very best that they can given the situation as it is. However I would never recommend this facility to anyone and I have had both my mother and my father in that facility and I do believe it to be terrible at best. My mother is there and actually died in the facility which was to be expected. Yet while she was sick she could get no one to change her bandages and there were times when she had human feces left in her underwear for hours on end. It got to the point that she had burns on her skin because of this and I had to hire someone from outside the facility to make sure that she was checked on constantly.

My Father was left on the floor screaming for help for a half hour . When the aid showed up because he could not reach the bathroom in time they sent him to the hospital . All of this is recorded on cameras that I place in his room due to unexplainable bruises the hospital noted ! Found roaches all over in his room .The nurse [name removed]and the coordinator [name removed] are nice when it is convenient for them shoul you have a emergency do not expect them to answer the phone at any time of the day . [name removed]is never on the premises when she is supposed to be and [name removed]is to busy making arrangements for vacation ! As for the rest of the staff they work when they want to except for the maintenance men they are often found doing repairs as need

As soon as I walked in I had a warm feeling. Everyone I talked with was very friendly and helpful. They walked me through the faculty while telling me all about the things that offer. I literally only had one question, when can we get dad in here! Thanks

My loved one was briefly a resident at The Goldton at St Petersburg. Our experience with the Goldton was excellent, from the medical attention, staff, room accommodations and their food. We would recommend The Goldton at St Petersburg to others.

[name removed] is the person who shows the facility. Cannot recall her title. She was the best out of all the places we checked. The room sizes were the best I had seen and they also have a back door that opens to a back patio. Definitely worth a tour with [name removed]. We scheduled a lunch for our tour.

My sister is currently a resident at The Goldton at St Petersburg and from what I see, the facility is always kept clean, very organized, and everyone that works there does their part in keeping it going. I really appreciate that everyone is taking good care of my sister and I know it's tough and it's not easy. I would recommend The Goldton at St Petersburg to others.

Response from The Goldton at St. Petersburg
April 29, 2024We apologize that your experience has been less than satisfactory. Please reach out to our regional director to discuss any concerns you may have. Angela Bowden at 931-581-8250
I found the facility to be very clean with adequate spaces for activities. I was disappointed in the number of activities (which seemed largely due to staffing issues. ) My other problem was that my husband was in the memory care unit and they could not provide him with escort services to appointments. Had I known that, I don't think I would have chosen The Goldton.

Response from The Goldton at St. Petersburg
April 29, 2024Thank you for your feedback and kind words. Please reach out to let us know how we can make things even better.
Staff are all friendly/helpful, approachable, facility is primarily kept clean with obnoxious smells are kept controlled Monthly rate is far too expensive and a resident 's needs should be reassessed, re-evaluated at least monthly also meals, snacks, desserts for diabetics should be made available but are not all meals are created and presented with NO differentiation I know because I am dx'd with diabetes, was never offered alternative menu and, I was there 6months

Response from The Goldton at St. Petersburg
April 29, 2024Thank you for your kind words. We have recently made some changes in our dietary department and would welcome the opportunity to discuss how we can make things better.
IT was recommended by A Place For Mom. But after only 2 months and with no prior warning they wanted to go up on my moms monthly rent after agreeing to what she could afford. Also due to their lack of nursing care she was sent to the ER. She was admitted. She then was sent to a rehab facility. Would never send her back to the Goldton.

The Goldton at St. Petersburg is 5* during the day. However, there is almost NO care after hours. Very disappointing after a great tour and meeting people. We moved Mother in on a Friday afternoon and barely saw a soul until Monday morning. Other facilities with that many residents and that quality of care have managers on call, maintenance on call, CNAs 24/7, activities on weekends, etc. I'm glad we met the people, but we had to take Mom to where there is more consistent staffing. With that caveat, I WOULD recommend the Goldton at St. Petersburg. The food, the Activity person, and the atmosphere is great... Mon-Fri 9-4.

I wasn't crazy about the Goldton. Something seemed a little off. Their perception of a courtyard was to go out the door and "make it your own". Nothing there but dirt and stones. Not inviting at all.
Expensive, but very clean. They say they are one of the few facilities in the area licensed to do catheter care, but my dad received no catheter care - it seems like no one knew what to do. Friendly and down-to-Earth staff, though very hands-off unless specifically asked for help.

They heard us when we talked to them about the challenges we experienced at a previous facility. And they knew how how to care for our loved one. We were even able to take a vacation knowing that he was safe while we were gone. This is a one level facility, so it's super easy to get around. It's clean and always smells lemony-citrusy. Everyone is on a regimented schedule - the patients are brought out of their rooms to get them engaged and around other people. It's a little bit of a smaller community, which I like. Our loved one is in Memory Care, but in assisted living, each resident room has two doors - the standard door off the hallway, and an additional door that goes out into a secure courtyard, where you can keep a chair and sit outside. Memory Care doesn't have that feature, but there's a covered deck where they bring the Memory Care residents out for fresh air. Our loved one seems to enjoy that. They're currently looking to hire an activities director on the Memory Care side, but in the meantime, they're including everyone in activities on the Assisted Living side and making sure the Memory Care residents are still engaged.

What we really like about the community is the size - it is not to small, not to large and it is all on one floor which makes it easily accessible for the residents. The staff is friendly but they could have quicker response times. The grounds around the community could be improved as well - they have a fountain in the back and a butterfly garden that are not functional right now.

The food there is horrible and by that I'm not talking about the taste of food at all but more so the fact that when you are feeding people who have Alzheimer's and dementia you cannot serve them highly sugared deserts and drinks. This practice is 100% contrary to all the medical information knowing about what exacerbates their conditions. Why is this happening? Additionally I am not receiving any type of consistent information as to what's going on with my parents while they are there. Fortunately I am able to go there at least twice a week to check on my mom. There seems to be no consistent reporting taking place about the daily care being afforded to each resident. I have made numerous phone calls that are never returned.
