My loved one at times complains of the food and she hears staff are unhappy with the chef. Some staff have quit bc of him, she was told. She was pleased with the activity director who may be away. I think she would say the overall value is ok. We live in Michigan so not there to observe. When she got sick we came from Michigan for a month to get her set up. She chose Addison among a few assisted liv places because her church and friends are near it. But the church has not been active with her. Everything we know now about Addison is from her, a friend and the church deacon. We are overall quite pleased with Addison and she is adjusting well! Our experience at The Addison of Knightdale overall was not good. The workers/caregivers were excellent and the food was good and nutritious. However the facility management was far less than adequate. My loved one needed to be seen by the facility doctor but the director of nursing told me “we cannot get a doctor here on his day off, but YOU can do whatever you need to do”. Within 48 hours my loved one was admitted to the hospital with an infected wound that had not been properly cared for by The Addison. From the executive director down to the nursing director, their demeanor and flippant attitudes were apparent every time I visited. The worst person was the financial director. These women are unprofessional and treat families very poorly. My rating for the staff is for the workers in the memory care unit and the activities director only. I would not recommend The Addison of Knightdale to anyone and actually I do not think I will ever use A Place For Mom again either!

June 17, 2024Our team is focused on providing a great quality of life for your loved one. Always feel free to visit and share your experiences with us.
They are difficult to communicate with. Many times they do not answer the phone during business hours. Messages left, do not get returned. Sometimes we have to just go there to talk to somebody. We are overall satisfied. I think the Addison suits our Aunt pretty well.

I have found The Addison to be a good place for my mother. It is not perfect, but I do feel confident she is well taken care of. They are responsive to her needs and the staff maintains a positive attitude.

Response from The Addison of Knightdale
December 22, 2023Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We’re so proud that you trust us with the care of your loved one.
The dining experience has been great because she enjoys the people at her table and it's helping her settle in and seems to be cheering her up. With the activities she was encouraged by the art teacher noticing her ability ( she was an art major in college). When it comes to the value it is hard to say bc I'm not closely aware of other such assisted living. Overall my husbands ( her brother) and I are pleased by her beginning to cheer up and open up to people and activities. The director has been helpful. Our loved one is a bit disappointed in the food's sameness every day ( eggs and bacon or same cereal each day)but it's great she has a diet low in salt. One other note- you've gotten her to hospital and Dr's in emergency. Glad of that. Overall we're pleased.

My loved one was a resident at The Addison of Knightdale. They had a change in management that had an adverse effect on my opinion of the facility. When my loved one first went there, I found that management and staff very caring. There was a total change of staff and management and we had nothing but problems. They were not giving her the proper medication and they antagonize her and complained about her behavior and eventually put her out. She went to another facility and has had no problems. I found the new director to be dishonest, doing everything she could to take our money and put my loved one out. I would not recommend this facility to anyone. It was truly a bad experience.

My sister was at the facility for maybe a month. We realized that she needed total nursing care and had to move her. The team that took care of my sister for the short time that she was here were very loving and attentive to her needs.

They seem to do well on the things that are listed above. My only complaint would be the communication. They are often hard to get in person and don't call back very well. I would recommend the facility depending on what you need. I think a family that is more "needy" might night find The Addison attentive enough. We are not a micromanaging type family and are not easily discouraged. People have differing levels of expectation.

This was a nice community. The rooms were smaller and it was more that we wanted to spend for our loved one.
The tour was excellent and detailed, i loved the atmosphere and the tour from the marketing director was professional. very clean great setup on the model and a place for mom did a great match up from our conversation

This is a nice community during our tour and the staff were very helpful. The community was a little further from family than we wanted.
It is a good facility with a caring staff. One of the best I have seen

There weres a lot of inconcistencies. The receptionist was arrogant. Some people very personable and some were not. My loved one was left alone for a long period time, and ended up outside. There was lack of communication, with the head nurse, who did did not explain things, when a psych evaluation was needed. There was a time, in which they would not release my loved ones medication. Sometimes they would let, patients sleep instead of having a routine and they would miss a meal. The residents go outside sometimes to the garden ,watch TV, or do puzzles but there was no real interaction with the residents. No one is really watching them.

The guy who gave us the tour was super nice and helpful. We did not go with The Addison because the rooms were very small. He explained that they made them that way so that the residents would not spend too much time in their rooms, but my mom would have lost her mind.
This community lacked professionalism. Turned out to be non professional and things did not go well with the community in the memory care department. I am not sure about the assisted living. The building is not bad but could use some renovations. The administrative staff are the issue and this needs to be changed for anything to be fixed. The food was also not good.
The community was open at the time our loved one moved in and the people are friendly.

This community is okay for your loved one. This is my first experience dealing with a community. Currently they do not have activities due to covid and quarantine. My loved one is really happy with the meals. They do not require that the residents be vaccinated but they are having all of the employees be vaccinated due to a recent outbreak.

Our family had an in person tour and The Addison of Knightdale is a beautiful facility, but unfortunately way to expensive.
My loved one was there about a month and a half, after we had paid two months in full. I still haven't seen a refund for the last two weeks that she was not there. Also, I asked the management there to help me with long term care insurance. They've been zero help with that. I have to keep calling and calling them because I get no response - they're totally ignoring me. I am very annoyed with them. They were nice to work with at first. It was a clean, friendly place while my loved one was there. The food was not outstanding but good. It was a shame. If they had helped me with long term care insurance and refunded my money, it would have been an okay experience. But now, I feel like they only care about the money and don't care about you anymore once you've moved out.

A Place for Mom has scored The Addison of Knightdale 7.3 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
