Location was key and it was in budget. We visited and the staff didn't have accents so that was a major concern she had at the last place. We are currently looking for a new place though.

My mother in law is no longer there. We weren't happy that they did not re-evaluate her after 30'days as promised. She was on the memory care ward and she could have done fine in independent living since she was back on her medication. Other residents were always walking in her room and taking things. Felt more like an institution. We have moved her to another independent living place.

I researched several places before deciding to choose Terrabella. All places are expensive but I found the cost to be reasonable and the level of care commensurate with the others. It was a difficult transition for my father and they have been extremely patient and kind. They keep me informed of his behavior, his treatment needs and anything they think I need to know. I am glad I chose Terrabella.

The staff were nice and responsive. There was a laundry service, but it was very unpredictable and spotty, not sure what to expect there. The housekeeping was adequate. I never ate there, but my dad liked the food. In the year that he was there, my main concern was the recurrent flooding issues in the building and construction for it. It seem to be a place that was trending better over time. We toured other places that were more appealing visibly, but much more expensive. I think that after considering the triangle market, I was content for what we got for the price.

The move in process was as good as it gets. The room is very adequate, even though it was one of the smaller rooms we visited. Other facilities had larger spaces, but we made this one cozy and comfy. The staff was very helpful in helping with moving items and helping to put up a floating shelf. Everyone is cheerful and positive. There are lots of activities and you can go outside and walk around. Your questions are answered quickly- and the residents have a monthly meeting to discuss any concerns that they have. While this is an older facility, it has been updated and is bright and cheerful.

All of the staff have respect for each individual there - they really strive to provide quality care. The facility itself is beautiful. The staff managing are wonderful.

Unfortunately I don't remember names but everyone was very friendly and willing to help. It is clear they take good care of their residents. I also learned that most of the employees have been working there for several years so they care about the home.

"Care is a state in which something does matter; it is the source of human tenderness." - Rollo May, Psychologist I felt this quote states what the mission at a facility should be that is responsible for "caring" for the frail and elderly who have medically complex conditions. Terra Bella was the second Assisted Living Facility we had my mother-in-law in since we had to move her from Virignia to Raleigh to be closer to us. We thought to ourselves couldn't be worse than the first AL. Soon did we realize that despite being charged the highest level of care she was not receiving it. Repeatedly my mother-in-law who was unable to much for herself was left alone in the bathroom for an hour. When we inquired with the ED she stated if we wanted someone to check on her more frequently then we would need to hire a private care assistant. My mother-in-law subsequently fell in the bathroom was on the floor for at least 45 minutes she was brought to the ER that day. Three days later she died.

My dad connects with the staff and they care for him and care about him as a friend. Laundry needs work give it a 3, but everything else has been great. I'm happy with his overall care and he is, too. Dad's health declined in September creating really hard and overwhelming life changes for both of us in many ways. It has been so helpful for me and my dad to move forward. Moving him to Raleigh in October and into TerraBella, which has been invaluable. He receives care that I can't give him. His health has improved with the care from TerraBella and with Legacy physical therapy located within Terra Bella. Now that he is in town, he receives many visits from family weekly.

Only had my parent at Terra Bella for a short period of time and then moved to another community. Staff was either no where to be found or rude, food was terrible, promises were made that never happened. Got to know other family members of other residents with similar complaints. There are much better options in the Raleigh area.

My husband was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Dementia in 2012. I quit my job to become his full-tme caregiver. By 2020, I knew I needed assistance and began to look for memory care facilities. Due to the pandemic, I was not able to physically visit facilities, so all tours were done virtually. The folks at TerraBella (it was Elmcroft at the time) were amazing. The tour was not just a dog and pony show, but gave me a sense of how things were on a daily basis on the memory care unit. I decided this was the best place for my husband so he moved in on [date removed]. He passed yesterday and I am so grateful to the staff for their love and compassion towards him for the three years he was in their care. EVERYONE was so wonderful to him and to me no matter when I showed up or how long I stayed. I was kept informed regularly of any and all incidents and he was always clean, dry, and well-groomed. He will be missed, but he was absolutely well cared for at TerraBella Shine. God bless!

I have been less than impressed at Terra Bella. The promise of the Shine program is only a promise. My father has been put to bed in wet sheets, sheets with feces on them and dirty clothes in them. The bed is often made wet with no thought of changing sheets. We provided 5 full sets of sheets and have only 2 top sheets left, yet all were labeled with his name. Same for towels and washcloths. His room is ransacked by other residents with items broken and no regard for watching other residents. They let residents sit in dirty pull-ups for hours vs bringing them to the bathroom routinely which was promised. When I'm there on a weekend, he can go all day without soiling a pull-up or clothes just by visiting the bathroom routinely yet on a weekday he will go through 3-4 pairs of pants because they do not help him with the bathroom. I had to install a camera due to constant falls which never happened at home and watched him on camera after a fall where he sat on a floor after someone found him unattended for 40 minutes calling for help while he continued to try and get up. He was at risk for serious injury but they left him unattended after they knew he fell. This place violates so many basic rules. I clean floors, toilets and my dads hands etc. when I'm there. They don't brush his teeth and fail to give showers per the schedule unless I press the issue. The care plan is also non existent. Some of the employees go above and beyond, others should endure the care they give to understand their impact and rethink how they treat people. I've been there many times to see activities and there are none. I don't recommend anyone put loved ones in this memory care center

We picked this community, because they have caring people there! Directors were very personable and easy to get a hold of. I would recommend to other families.

Was very disappointed with the communication from the administration. Our loved one was pushed by another resident and fell. Care staff notified me. Results were she went to Wake Med. I called wake for a day and 1/2 and they did not have a patient by that name. Finally found her at Rex through process of elimination. Never did admin reach out. I went to talk with them in lesson to express my concerns and I was told when they leave on an ambulance they have no way of knowing where they are going. Director was very flippant and called another member of staff to witness my conversation. Two weeks later she fell, broke a rib and wrist and was sent to Duke Raleigh. I was there before her paperwork was processed. Here is a dementia expected to answer admission and doctor questions. When I filled out the paper work and went back the doctor came back to talk to me. Grateful for that or I would not have known what had been done. She passed away 3 weeks later. The rescue squad called me and said she was unresponsive and that after working on her for 20 minutes...I stopped them and told them mama had a DNR. They said omg we did not know this. No one told the nursing staff and no one told the rescue. There should be a note over their bed to this affect. She passed away on [date removed] a.m. around 3:00. Funeral was on [date removed].I went to clean out her room on [date removed]. No one from there ever called me to tell me she had passed, offer condolences or make contact with me at all. I went to clean out her things. She had several unopened packs of depends, (7-8) Boost (6-4 packs) that I had purchased and taken there ( they said they were having supply issues), her shower chair, towels (new), a recliner with the lift (not hers anyway). I do however highly recommend "A Place for Mom". Your service is invaluable, follow up was great and I loved [name removed]. Thank yall for everything and for all your help.

Thanks and have a great day.
The activities director goes out of her way to make sure that the residents actually have something to look forward to. They have a pendant system for the call bell which was a big improvement for my mother-in-law from the previous assisted living facility. The facility keeps the door locked at all times so someone has to let you in and let you out when visiting. There is no services offered for manicures . The system for hairdresser is not organized. They did do a recent renovation so definitely makes the interior brighter. The surrounding neighborhood is very nice as well as the grounds. CNA's and Med Techs are average nothing to write home about. Eventus is who they contract out for primary care which is the same as the prior AL and we are not a fan. Eventus employees Inexperienced providers who are over worked.

The only real criticism we had was that at Terra Bella we did not care for how the memory unit was completely separate from the rest of the facility. We were not sure where our Mom was going to be placed and we would have had strong reservations if she were going to be placed in the memory unit there. They spent time with us, answered all our questions and again seemed lovely. Their facilities just weren't the best fit for us.
We toured TerraBella Northridge and it was a great place! However, they were doing a lot of repairs due to a water main break at the time we toured and I knew that my loved one would not be happy there with all the construction work and noise. Under normal circumstances, I think this would be a great place to stay!

A Place for Mom has scored TerraBella Northridge 8.4 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
