My dad actually needed good care, and the staff there was useless at providing it. He was sent to the hospital a dozen times via ambulance for renal failure and bladder infections that the staff there failed to detect So I'm sure it's fine if you have a healthy parent but if they truly need care this isn't the place

I struggled rating #4 since my mother passed after only being there for 3.5 days. What I do know is the nurses aids never brushed her teeth while there. Mom had all her own teeth & I was very concerned about good oral care. The tooth paste I sent was never used- in fact all her toiletries were in the exact same position- in a wash bin sitting on a shower chair outside her room- untouched, when her belongings were gathered the day she passed away. So I wasn't thrilled with that (being a nurse) which got me to wonder what personal hygiene care the aids gave, if any over the 3 1/2 days she was there? Sorry but I have to be honest. Also there was a discrepancy between staff stories as to whether my mother passed with staff at her bedside holding her hand or, was found in the morning already deceased. I didn't appreciate that as I was out of state when she passed and could not come home-and knowing about her true final moments was very important to me since it was an agonizing decision to have to place her in respite care to begin with. The staff were always nice in the preparations prior to her stay but a serious lack of knowledge from the senior staff as to the day of passing event. After mom's death my phone calls/messages went unanswered for a month in trying to recover the prorated money owed to the estate and contributed to my anguish in setting estate matters. So I'm sorry to say my overall experience wasn't great but I am thankful that I could find a place close to my home and that the minimum stay was only 2 weeks. I appreciate the time & effort & all the paperwork that it took just for that short stay. Everything fell into place for mom's stay there. I just wish the outcome had been different.

It’s has been a journey and only with hindsight can we see that this was a good path for mom. Sunrise is the right fit as its community / family atmosphere feels like a home. The employees are extremely responsive and while adjusting to living in assisted living has taken a long time for Mom, she’s happier each day.

The place feels like home. The furniture and accessories are beautiful. Her personal room is adequate and clean. There is no issue anytime she needs assistance. Meals are quite good and plentiful. Activities are enjoyable and anyone can join in. She has a lovely personal assistant whom I can call anytime with concerns and she can call me as well. As soon as I entered the facility I felt very comfortable my friend would love it there.

My experience for my parents at Sunrise was horrible. First the staff did not come in the 10 minutes that I was told they were going to. The food options were very limited. My parents were not intermingled with other residents. They were told that they had to sit at their own table and not meet other residence. When the staff came to assist my father with his toileting and other services they were not gentle and kind. The nurse was told not to send my father to the hospital without contacting me and she did and contacted me after the fact. Then when it was time for my father to come home from the hospital since nothing was wrong with him I was told that he could not come back to Sunrise because they could not give him the care that he needed. My father was on hospice and should never have been sent to the hospital. I’m extremely unsatisfied with Sunrise.

A new manager of the dementia floor took over shortly after Mom moved in, so in all fairness, she did a great job of trying to correct some issues but still had a ways to go when Mom passed in April of last year. Plus-I felt Mom was safe and renovations were being made to update and brighten the overall look.

If your parent is sick and actually needs help getting better don't take him to Sunrise. If they just need a place to land then it is probably fine. Nursing staff is unresponsive and it is very hard to get them to do anything.

My loved one is currently a resident at Sunrise of North Wales and everything has been great for her at this facility so far. The move in process was smooth. The facility is clean. The friendliness, care services and value for cost are great. I would definitely recommend Sunrise of North Wales to others who are looking for Assisted Living care for themselves or their loved ones.

Through guidance from [name removed] with A Place for Mom, we were able to talk to several communities. When he told us about Sunrise, it seemed to be a good fit for us. He had us on the phone with Sunrise very quickly as we needed to make arrangements for Dad leaving the hospital. We visited before making the choice and we're very pleased with the facility. And that never wavered during my Dad's brief stay. I would highly recommend Sunrise North Wales to anyone looking for a safe, caring place for elderly parents. And if they are able to participate, or just sit and listen or watch, there are many activities and performances to take part in.

My loved one is currently a resident at Sunrise of North Wales. The move in process was good and easy, the staff was very accommodating. Overall, the staff is kind and helpful though some seem like they don't want to be bothered. The higher staff is knowledgeable and has good ideas and plans for recovery. However, communication with the family, for me, has only been when asked. Some of the nursing staff has not been open with sharing information unless asked for specifics. The Executive Director is kind and always willing to help. I would highly recommend their Physical Therapist. He has had open communication and has worked hard with my loved one. The meals are pretty poor. The breakfast selection is minimal and my loved one tends to have the same breakfast each day. The dinner selections are limited and not good quality. Many of the meats are tough and can't be chewed. When my loved one doesn't want the main selection, even some of the backup/always available selections are not an option. The food definitely needs some improvement. The activities seem good. The cost for care is very expensive. My loved one has greatly progressed, but we are still paying for the same level of care. There should be different levels of care and the cost should be associated. I would recommend Sunrise of North Wales to others, but with a few caveats. Be aware of the food and ask questions to the nursing and aid staff to be sure progression and care is to be expected.

The care was top notch!!! Would highly recommend this facility. The individual care my father received was excellent. Every staff member that touched Dad truly cared about him as an individual. He was treated with dignity and respect from the time he entered to the day he left to come home. It's a wonderful community!

The staff is very pleasant at Sunrise of North Wales. They have gotten to know my father well - including his habits. Communication with the family is good. They get back to you within 24 hours. No problems with housekeeping. My father's room always looks clean. They have new furniture in all of the public sitting areas. My father's room was freshly painted and new carpet before move date. The meals are my only concern - meats are dry. They do have several food options for each sitting, which keeps my father happy. My father has no been too involved with the activities, but based on their monthly calendar there is always something to do. I would recommend Sunrise of North Wales to family and friends.

Our family had an in person tour and we thought it was a very nice tour experience based on what we saw and all the staff members we spoke with
They have a fairly new reminiscence care coordinator and the place needed work so she is making some progress towards better. They still have a ways to go. I feel that mom is safe and that is the most important thing me.

This is a high rise and didn't feel personable to me. The memory care area was on the fifth floor, and I felt my loved one might feel isolated in the community.
What was the deciding factor for our family was the size of the apartment our loved one would have and the location of the community. We have not had much experience with the meals or dining service but it seems like our parents are enjoying it. Based on our experience so far with Sunrise of North Wales we would absolutely recommend them to other families

Sunrise of North Wales was okay. I got bad vibes initially when we arrived. Cleanliness really wasn't there. And it just wasn't the right fit for my loved one - it was too big of a facility.

A Place for Mom has scored Sunrise of North Wales 8.8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score.
