August 15, 2024Thank you so much for your input. We always love suggestions for our field trips. We had several residents that went to the Birmingham Museum of Art yesterday, August 15, 2024. They had a wonderful time. Our activities director, weekly for on line shopping if for some reason they cannot attend our shopping trips. With cooler weather approaching we will have more outings. Low budget stay, too many pest bugs, roaches and bed bugs, building needs repair moving soon, this week! They need to hire a better chef. As far as the activities, they need to ask residents for suggestions.

August 5, 2024Thank you so much for your input. We have monthly pest control inside and outside our building. When a resident reports pest control issues, we immediately respond.
Moved my sister into Skyline about 2 months ago. On the tour Beverly Maples was enthusiastic about the facility and she knew everyone's name that we ran into. She promised to love on my sister and has done so with positive outcomes. My sister was reluctant to participate in things because of her hearing loss. She is now wearing her hearing aids (never would before). She has made friends and participated in many activities. The staff and residents have made a difference in making my sister happier. Thanks.

I would say friendly staff and clean facilities. I would let them know my mom really likes it. We picked this one because they were prompt to call us, worked with mom on payments and were priced reasonably with a lot of amenities. My mom is really happy there.

When I first arrived for my tour, I was welcomed with open arms. I was offered something to drink and was made sure that I was comfortable. The staff is so pleasurable and friendly to talk to and they go out of their way to help in any way they can. Now I'm a resident here and I have no regrets making this decision. I'm extremely happy here.

When my family started touring communities for my grandmother we were met at the door with huge smiles and offered refreshments. [name removed] and [name removed] treated us like she was already home. When we pulled up we noticed the Skyline Village bus was parked out front. One of the sweetest residents told us that they were going to leave for Krispie Kreme and Popshelf for National Donut day. We are very pleased with all the amenities and cant wait until Mimi calls Skyline Village her home.

My loved one was previously a resident at Skyline Village at Red Mountain and our experience was terrible, overall. My loved one got bed bugs here after only a couple of weeks. Also, they did not realize that her medication had been delivered to the front desk. They put them away and she did not have medication for a full day. [name removed] was great, but the overall experience was terrible.

I visited Skyline Village with my neighbor that is looking for a retirement community. Skyline Village was beautiful. [name removed] showed us around and treated us to lunch. We had fried fish and homemade hush puppies which are her favorites. The community was clean and that view is spectacular.

This place is incredible. We couldn't ask for a better staff. [name removed] is marvelous, highly trained, innovative and it shows! The atmosphere is beyond compare. I am so grateful to have my father in a lovely facility like this. He is able to thrive at this time in his life.

Skyline Village is a great place to live. You have your own apartment, there are a lot of activities, especially the warmer months. The staff is really nice and make you feel at home, especially while dining. I have made a ton of new friends. I laugh and smile all the time..

The guest rooms are extremely small and confining, and they do have pest control problems. The medication at times is stolen. There are no staff members that covers the front desk. The housekeeping does not always clean the guest rooms which is required.

May 28, 2023Thank you so much for your input. We strive to make sure our residents are happy with the services and accommodations we provide. With regards to your concerns about the size of our apartments, we have apartments that vary in square footage from our studio to our two-bedroom apartments and they are all within the industry average. When advising a potential new resident of the size of apartment they require, we take into consideration the amount of space they require for their furniture and of course what their budget requirements are. Of course, pest control in community living is an important issue to stay on top of and we address any concerns brought to us by residents immediately. Our front desk is consistently monitored and our business office personnel are very accessible to residents and family members. If the staff member covering the front desk is away from the desk at any given time, they always have the phone forwarded to the “night phone” so that no call goes unanswered. Someone is accessible by phone to address any concerns 24/7. We have security cameras on all four corners of the building and cameras on each floor. We take the safety of our residents extremely seriously. Unfortunately, at times, residents will misplace their medications. We have a strict policy that no employee is to enter a resident’s apartment unannounced or without the resident being present. We do not monitor who residents invite to their apartment on their own accord, but we do suggest that the keep their medications in a safe and secure location to avoid any discrepancies. Finally, we provide housekeeping for every resident once a week and do so at a predetermined time that is convenient for the resident. If the apartment has not been cleaned to the resident’s satisfaction, we invite the resident to come address any concerns with management. Again, Thank you for your input. Beverly Maples
My aunt has lived at Skyline Village for a little over a year. She has had her challenges as she is aging ,but the lovely staff has helped accomodate her as much as possible. They are quick to lend a hand and fix any maintenance issues. Any concerns that we have had were addressed quickly and efficently.

They have bedbugs. Actually, all bugs reside in their facility. We asked before moving in. They lied. We left all belongings there when we removed mother. She had over 30 bites on her. Shameful. We’ve spent thousands of dollars to be free of their bedbugs. Disgusting place. Other is finally living in a safe, clean senior independent living apartment.

Over all, it's probably the least expensive retirement community in the area. I picked this community because of the rent and location. I would recommend to other families.

The facility is amazing. They are in the process of building rooms on the top floor. The owner has a suite there and carefully monitors the facility. He demands the best for the tenants. The staff is extremely helpful and kind. They go out of their way to make the tenants feel like they are actually at home. My sister feels like she has a purpose again. Beverly Maples is there to help your Mom or in my case, my sister, be as independent as possible, with assistance thrown in when needed. A small discount for veterans would be helpful. She's spending every penny she gets on rent. A 5% discount would give her a little spending money. I now have peace of mind that my sister is in a great place to live and I highly recommend Skyline Village.

For over 2 years this facility has had major bedbug issues. There is also a roach infestation as well. They can't keep good help and the food is terrible. These seniors pay a fee to have cleaning service done once a week, well the past 3 months our mother has not had her room cleaned, sheets changed, bath cleaned. That is gross mismanagement. A lot of the people living here are handicap, serious health issues. We are in process of getting legal advice and have contacted Jefferson Co. Health Dept.
