My family was very pleased with the quality of care our mother received at Parc Provence. When you look at the most important component of this facility it would have to be the staff. We were always able to talk with a nurse or caregiver about mom's day never feeling confused or dissatisfied about her updates. The staff was warm, loving and friendly. They always made my mom laugh and put a smile on her face during a very difficult day. At meal times if we couldn't be with her there was someone who would take our place to help feed her and make her comfortable. It wasn't about the beauty of Parc Provence but the beauty within the walls of Parc Provence. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts from our family to yours.... Read more

The facility is gorgeous and a really great place to bring a loved one for memory care. We were confident that getting our dad into Parc when we did helped us get a few more good years with him.

This is a lovely place, or so it seems. The decor from the outside and as you enter is visually impressive. It must have gained its outstanding reputation when it opened some time back as being on the cutting edge of memory care. However, it has rested on that standing for too long, and can no longer sustain this reputation. As you go towards the back of the facility, moving from assisted living to the more acute areas of the facility, it starts to feel more like a common nursing home. The staff is basically nice, but as with most nursing homes, they are administratively heavy, and understaffed on the floors, where it counts. If you spend a bit of time there on your own, rather than being whisked around by the marketing staff, you will see the [Removed] of residents who can't/don't feed themselves and fall asleep at the tables. You might also see the number of "companions" that are hired privately by the families who can afford it, on top of the very expensive daily rate, due to inadequate care and under staffing. They claim to have staff do one-on-one interactions with residents and ask families to contribute various mementos for a bag to use for that purpose, but it rarely if ever happens. If you pay enough attention to the care of your loved one, you might see medication errors, forgotten treatments, long wait times to answer call lights, and potential for falls due to inadequate supervision. They do have an impressive array of daily activities, perhaps the longest list in STL, but not all of them are realistic for the clientele and the residents’ limited ability to interact and retain information (i.e., current events, schedule of activities for the coming day, etc.) Every evening, they park residents in front of the TV where they fall asleep and sit there until the staff get around to putting them to bed. We moved our loved one there with the assumption that they would be getting proper medical supervision, and that nursing staff could do a good assessment should there be a medical complication. When a medical emergency did occur, we found them to be woefully inept and found ourselves relying on people who were not medically trained staff to come to the aid of our loved one. I could go on, but suffice it to say that there are definitely worse places in STL, but for the money you are paying, and the reputation of the facility (it is owned by Gatesworth), I think you can do better. And let's face it; this place is all about the money!
