My Mother has advanced Alzheimer’s. She is well taken care of by [name removed] and others at Oasis at Margate. The staff is very responsive to her needs, especially the head nurse, Diane. They work well with Mom’s hospice team, and we appreciate Accent Hospice Care too. My mom has been here over 10 years. Her first several years she was active and enjoyed the many activities. I’m glad we didn’t have to move her when she succumbed to advanced Alzheimer’s. There has only been one very small increase in her care in all these years. Definitely consider Oasis at Margate for your elder in need of excellent affordable care.... Read more

Mom had been living happily at Oasis for six years when it used to be Margate Manor. Then it got taken over by 428 Healthcare. Food quality gone down. Meds given out late or not at all. Air conditioner broke for two days. Once they fixed it they set it at the highest level to save money. Telephones removed. When asked how mom was to ask for help, the staff told her she could go in the hallway and yell for help. Staff that had been there for 10, 15 years all quit or were fired. And to top it off, mom had to go to the hospital. When they brought her back, my sister met the EMTs at Oasis. Nobody was at the front desk. The dropped mom off on a mat on her bed. We went back two hours later, after calling the front desk numerous times with no answer, to check on mom. She was lying in urine soaked clothes and had not been fed. Two days later, the same thing. We filed a complaint. Oasis answered by telling us that mom, who was in the hospital again, had 24 hours to vacate.

My mother was a resident there for seven years. It was a wonderful place. Then it was bought by 428 health care. The nursing staff quit, frustrated. Now they have medical technicians on staff. They removed the phones from the residents rooms. My mom was told that if she needs help to stick her head in the hallway and yell. There is very little staff there. Try calling and if someone answers, it's your lucky day. I went to see my mother last Sunday and she was lying on her bed with no top sheet, sheets were soiled, and her bathroom was covered in feces. When she had to go to the hospital this week, I stopped by to pick up some things for her. I was told to pack up her room and leave by the end of the day. Not surprised since the administrator, [name removed], is rude. Residents complain that the food is bad...sandwiches for dinner. There are no amenities. Before, there were happy hours and events every day. Now they just place residents in front of a TV where they exercise to a video.

Margate Manor recently was bought out by 428 Healthcare. They are cutting hours, amenities and quality of food. Workers who have been there, 10, 17 and 19 years were recently fired or quit. What they advertise on website are lies!!! No Yoga chair exercise, no activities off site, no happy hour, no entertainment. They just removed all landline phones from patients rooms. Quality of food was downgraded and very limited. Patients are not getting their meds on time, so most of them must go to nurses station and get their own meds. It’s all about downsizing the care and making more greedy profits!!! Avoid this facility at all cost….. If I could give a zero I would, but gave ones!!!

The folks at Margate Manor have exceeded my expectations and I am so happy I found this place for my mom!! Gary the administrator is GREAT! Any time I have questions he gets back to me within hours. Sheila the head nurse is awesome—she explains medical issues to me in lay terms. I love that the facility is of moderate size—the staff there get to know the residents one-on-one. All the staff are lovely, compassionate, and very responsive to my mom's needs. My mom has come to know and love them as a family!

Nice small older community with spacious rooms, some have pretty lake view with porch and kitchens. Large bright dining area with chefs food very good and has variety. Small community so you don't get lost in shuffle and get more personal attention. Staff and management very caring and attentive and go out of their way to make it a home to their residents. They take care of laundry and all housekeeping needs.

We seem to be happy there. it's a smaller place, so a little more intimate. The food is good. The staff and nurses are friendly, and good with the medications. It's an older building, but it's kept in working order.

We're pleased with how things have gone so far at Margate Manor! I feel like the administrator here really cares about the residents, he spent a lot of time with me learning about my loved one and where we were coming from. They really work with you here to make sure your loved one is receiving the kind of care that they need! They are a smaller community, and offer a very high degree of care and service for what they charge. It has really worked out well, and I am glad we found them!

A Place for Mom has scored Oasis at Margate Assisted Living Residence 4.8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score.
