Do not recommend

The facility didn't provide care. They just took our money. There is a "Director of Nursing" who is an LPN. There are no other nurses in the facility. Lots of staff turn-over, with no method of identifying the client to ensure they are giving the right client the right medication. Very poor communication. They sent my husband to the ER on two occasions, and I wasn't even notified.

I do recommend Oaks at Chanticleer

The facility is a great place for someone that is looking for earlier care in Alzheimers and Dementia patients. The staff is friendly and always willing to help when possible. They were there at a time we needed them. And the only ones that would take her. I do recommend the place. But no where is perfect.

My Mom Loves It

I studied and toured local facilities and this one stood out. The cheerful decor was unusual compared to other places. The staff are friendly and caring. The Director took us personally on the tour. My mother can be difficult to please but she likes everything including the food. Daily activities and periodic outings are engaging for the residents.

A place for Dad

The workers are very kind and caring. But because so many of these residents have dementia keeping up with their personal items like razors and shavers and stuff is difficult. They constantly have something going on for the residence every week. It’s a good fit for our father.

The Oaks Memory Care

All staff was friendly, courteous, and helpful. My husband was in the facility for a very short time of 4 and 1/2 days. During this time, he had an undiagnosed infection in his arm. He was refusing to take his antibiotics. He was admitted to the hospital. Doctors decided on surgery to remove the infected tissue. At this time, he could not speak clearly and I could not understand what he was saying. Patient’s Spouse

Our families experience

When it comes to the cleanliness of the community the common areas get a 4 but the individual rooms get a 2. Overall the Oaks was an okay experience. The limited staff that was there did their best, but they were extremely overwhelmed. There were 3 wings with about 60 residents each and often, especially during the evenings, there was no staff at all in one of the wings.

Our Experience

I would recommend the facility. Like any facility, a family MUST be involved at least weekly. You must Determine expectations as part of your process to pick a facility. I found the staff and administrators to be helpful and will communicate as much as the family is involved. I'm extremely grateful that I had a team of family & friends that also visited weekly and checked quality of care when visiting. I made sure to be intentional with my requests to my visiting team. I have few regrets concerning our mom & aunt's time there. The pharmacy requirements I didn't like, that was my most stressful interaction. The particular staff on their wing was sweet, caring and did their best to keep me informed. My mom & aunt said they were not mistreated and everyone was nice to them. Their stay at the Oaks was mentally & emotionally challenging for me. I was there visiting weekly and so was our visiting team. I had confidence in the care & concern that was a part of the atmosphere of their wing. I'm still praising GOD for directing me to visit the Oaks during my facility search for care months before it became necessary to pick a facility for them. I feel prayer, Love & our desire for them to be safe & happy has granted me, my brothers, family & friends peace about their final weeks on earth. Plus we know without a doubt both of them are in Heaven praise God along with our other loved ones

They continually lost her belongings and blamed it on being a memory care facility. The staff was not easy to be found. The residents were often by themselves. The supervision definitely needs to be improved. The medications were always given without explanation.

Sent from Heaven!!

My sister and I toured so many facilities before we found the oaks at Chanticleer. We chose them because of how much space they had! My mom is a heavy wanderer and most of the memory cares we toured were small with little to no outdoor space. I was pleased to see that the oaks has 4 outdoor areas for my mom to roam around in. What I was not expecting was how well the staff were able to handle my mom’s behaviors. She has a lot of anxiety and gets aggressive often when I try and redirect her but the staff can easily calm her down better than I ever could! I am so thankful that I found the oaks! When I visit my mom she is so calm and pleasant and doing so much better now that she’s settled in there. I couldn’t be happier with the care and the service that she receives!

I do not recommend.

The experience was horrible. They were not equipped to handle my mother in law. They assure us that all their staff was trained to handle dementia and Alzheimer's patients and they were not. They did not know how to redirect her when she would get upset/sundowning. One of their med tech was given personal information about my mother in law to other people in the family without our consent. She had an incident where she was arguing back and forth with an aid.

Wonderful Community

I toured here a while back and had a great experience. I happened to be touring during lunch and got to see the meal the residents were served and it looked so delicious! The open concept layout would have been perfect for my mom to walk around in and I really loved all of the outdoor spaces that the residents can utilize. Unfortunately they were full and didn’t have availability but I also saw that as a great sign that this is a great community to bring your loved one to.
