The only activity I was aware of was an employee picnic. The medicine was not given properly. The bathrooms were kept locked. The food was poor. There were no activities for residents. The administration was unable to help with our issues. We withdrew my mom after only a few days. The staff would often be in the other physical building so unable to help. Also the other residents were not alert enough to be companions.

Response from Mercy House New Braunfels
November 15, 2024At our community, we are dedicated to providing exceptional care and a vibrant lifestyle for all our residents. It appears there may be some misunderstanding regarding the details and timeline mentioned in this review. The situation referenced occurred in August, and we made every effort to address it with the family at that time. Unfortunately, they chose to move their loved one out after only three days, without having the opportunity to fully experience everything Mercy House has to offer. To clarify, we provide a vibrant schedule of daily activities between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., ensuring our residents remain engaged and active. Our meals are another highlight, with made-to-order breakfasts and delicious lunches and dinners are provided by Avery’s Kitchen; a well-know, favorite in New Braunfels, Texas. If there are any specific concerns or further clarification is needed, we welcome the family to reach out to us directly. We are committed to addressing any issues and ensuring transparency.
I would not recommend Mercy House of New Braunfels to anyone that has a loved one that needs extra help and is in the last stage of life. They are under staffed and if your loved one is unable to feed themselves or toilet themselves. This is not the place for them. Mom was unable to talk and tell us anything but her health rapidly declined once moved in. They have a nice staff and facilities it is just understaffed and poorly run.
The staff was outstanding, and I would highly recommend it to other people.

Response from Mercy House New Braunfels
March 30, 2023We are so happy to know that the Crills have enjoyed being at Mercy House New Braunfels as much as we have REALLY enjoyed having them as a part of our Mercy House family!!
Mercy House seemed nice based off of our tour experience. The gentleman was very polite. I think we didn't choose it because they weren't equipped to handle my dad's advanced dementia care.
I would recommend it to others. I like that it's a small community, and they're very friendly. In general the facility is old but clean and adequate. The exercise outside area is nice as well. They just changed ownership from Sodalis to Mercy House, but as far as I know so far things have not changed yet.

We chose Sodalis because it was recommended to us and we looked at it was exactly what we needed. The director has been here 9 years, she is top notch and very energetic. She is always accessible which has been great. If one of her staff calls in and they can't be there, she steps right in. The activities director is over the top and has a very bubbly personality and is great at what she does. We are very pleased with our experience and would definitely recommend them to others and already have.

Overall, it's been really good. There are a few things I don't like, but that's just me. I know they're trying really hard, and it's difficult to care with people with dementia. I think one good thing that would help is if their care staff had a little bit more education and training. As far as the food, they've had some ups and downs and some changes in staff. But recently they've hired someone new, and the food is way better. My loved one is actually eating better, which is nice to see. One other another for improvement is the activities. They really don't do well with activities, although they do try.

I was not impressed with Sodalis New Braunfels at all. The main turn off for me was the lack of bathrooms that the facility had.
The staff are very nice and caring. They're not always consistent in their policies though. I've not tired the food, but it certainly doesn't look appetizing. The facility always looks nice and clean, but in the individual residents' rooms, they don't always get into the corners to clean or under the beds. It's not perfect, but then nobody is. But I feel very good about the care they're providing. It's a whole lot better than what I could give my loved one at home.

We really enjoy how the community is smaller so it offers that more one on one time, and every time we call the staff always know where our loved one is and what she is doing. The place is also very clean.
The staff here is just amazing and they care for their residents like they were their own family! The wonderful memory care community is in the most picturesque location in New Braunfels... just a hop, skip and a jump from both San Antonio and Austin. I highly recommend this community!

My loved one has been doing great every since we moved her in. The other place kept her locked in her room and not able to move around much. Here she is free to move around and go outside. She is happy and healthy. I haven't seen her look this great in years. The staff really cares and loves the residents. true heros!

Ive had the best experience with Sodalis my grandmother lives there and i couldn't of picked a better community for her to live in. The staff is amazing they are always loving on grandma and making sure she is well taken care of. They are always planning music and singing to her. My grandmother is at the end stages of Alzheimers's and the engagement is geared around the different needs of the residents which is so awesome. The management team is amazing also they are always keep me updated with her care and they are always there to answer question. I would highly recommend Sodalis for your loved one.

Thank you to all the staff at Sodalis for caring for my father during this difficult time in his life! My father has been in this community for almost a year and with his dementia progressing we didnt know what to do. We went over to Sodalis and felt so comfortable and the staff were so kind! My dad actually enjoys going out and playing the games and doing the activities which we never thought he would! Again thank you to the Sodalis caregivers and staff for caring for our father!

Our mother has lived at Sodalis Rock Street for 17 months. The staff are wonderful, very loving, caring, and patient. Every time we come in to the house, it is clean and smells good. There are activities and residents are encouraged to be out of their bedrooms and in the "living room area". The beautifully kept "back yard" affords residents the ability to sit outside in the shade or sunshine to see birds, plants, and flowers. Beautiful! She has had the best care she could possibly have here. She has dementia and can sometimes be challenging because of her medical situation. We thank the staff from the bottom of our hearts for their professional care and love for our mom. We know it is a hard decision where to place a loved one, and we are so thankful for everyone at Sodalis!

I had a nice tour of this community. It is a pretty nice facility with kind people. From what I saw everything was neat, and appeared to be well maintained. The staff was kind, and helpful. They answered all my questions, and the experience was a good one overall.
