After considering many communities for dad, I chose Maple Glen. My decision was based on the warm, caring environment that was obvious on my first visit, and I was right. It became dad's home, a place where he thrived under the professional, dedicated, caring help & guidance he received from all the staff members. Even though dad was in a wheel chair, he was treated with respect & dignity, allowed as much independence as possible, yet staff was there for him when needed. I am grateful & thankful to each person he interacted with, & miss them dearly. I highly recommend Maple Glen!

I am so grateful for the kind, compassionate care my husband is getting at MG. I cannot begin to name names…….afraid I might overlook someone, but those caregivers do a great job meeting needs of people who are not always easy to care for. Dementia care is an especially tough part of caregiving, and those who step up will definitely have shiny halos. Not being able to come inside is particularly tough, but knowing that the MG staff is keeping him safe and well cared for eases my mind immensely. Caregivers are the backbone of successful facilities. Keep up the good work, folks……..we families truly appreciate what you do.

Maple Glen Memory Care is a great community. I believe it is the staff at Maple Glen that really sets them apart. Their team is very friendly, caring, and passionate about what they do. They also offer great activities that encourage socialization. The activities are great for exercising both the mind and body. Maple Glen also provides support and care for the families of those that are staying at Maple Glen, which is very important. Maple Glen is a very friendly and caring community and they work hard to meet the needs of the residents and families that they serve.

Response from Maple Glen Memory Care
May 14, 2020Trace, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your positive experience at Maple Glen. We strive to create the most loving and nurturing community we can—a true home to our residents—and your appreciation means everything to us. Your comments and compliments are a gift to our staff, and to our community. Thank you! -Rachel Lazich, Executive Director
Our experience was shocking and sad. In late November 2018, our 96 year-old aunt was moved into Maple Glen Memory Care in Glen Ellyn, Il. She was in very good health, vigorous, but had advanced dementia, impaired eyesight and i hearing. She was friendly and relatively happy. She was evaluated to only require level 1 care. She had been living in an independent living community with the assistance of private caregivers. She was no longer able to join in the activities offered by her independent living community. We hoped that the special expertise we would find at the memory care facility would help us through the years ahead. The facility looked beautiful, well appointed, and new. The staff were friendly. We were assured that staff would provide my aunt with attention during the “transition phase.” We were assured that if her needs increased, the facility would increase her level of care at additional cost. We were assured that they discuss issues that arose. Our experience was a wake up call about this place, but perhaps the memory care industry in general. Buyer beware. Very little real caring is offered here. Our aunt fell 7 times in the 6 weeks she was there. Her hearing aids, her glasses and her wheelchair were all lost within the first days. She had a UTI, followed by pneumonia, and then followed by C-Diff. She was kept in a room with a roommate suspected of and later diagnosed with C-diff. She was placed in that roommate’s wheelchair and exposed to the roommate’s bedspread which was tossed on her bed. In six weeks, she lost 25lbs of her 135 lbs. Her mental status declined precipitously. After a month at Maple Glen, my aunt qualified for hospice. By then we had found a different place that could give the level of care she needed. One week after moving her out of Maple Glen, my aunt died. Throughout this horrendous experience, we were offered one alternative -- that we hire full-time round-the-clock, private caregiver to tend to our aunt day and night. Maple Glen staff said that they were doing all they were expected to do. In addition, our experience with Maple Glen’s administration is that they are incredibly disorganized. We had to ask multiple times for the invoices to submit to the insurance company. We had to ask numerous times for them to look for the missing items and each time they acted as if it was the first time we mentioned the missing items. There was no care plan developed until the 5 weeks into our aunt’s stay although the law requires such a plan. The plan that was finally provided offered no real insights into what was needed in our aunt’s special needs and circumstances. It is our view that they should have admitted that they could not care for her and told us to find somewhere else for her. To sum up, it looks nice, but the care is no more than bare minimum. That might work if your loved one is relatively self sufficient. Our aunt was very mobile, in late stage dementia and blind. This was a very problematic combination. It was gut wrenching that although people seemed nice, no one at Maple Glen appeared worried about all the bad things that happened in just six weeks. No effort was made to help guide us towards a more satisfactory situation.

Response from Maple Glen Memory Care
March 1, 2019Miranda, thank you for writing a review of Maple Glen Memory Care Community, and we are sorry for your loss. For the last 60 years, our number one priority is the care and comfort of our residents, and we appreciate your feedback and comments. As mentioned, each of our residents requires special attention, and I am sorry you felt we were disorganized. If we can serve you in any way, we would be grateful if you would call Carolyn, our Executive Director.
This building opened just a few months ago but was well worth the wait! A few of my friends have moved into the building and they, along with their families, seem to really love it. The Director of Nursing is phenomenal and definitely runs a tight ship! She keeps my mind at ease.

Response from Maple Glen Memory Care
February 13, 2018Maple Glen Memory Care Community is new to Glen Ellyn, but our care and expertise in serving residents go back 60 years. Thank you for spending a moment to write this review. We are pleased that we were worth the wait, and I will pass along your compliments to our Director of Resident Services. If we can serve you in any way, we would be grateful if you would call Carolyn, our Executive Director.
This community is not opened as of yet. After they open and get established we may move my mother to this location since it appears to be very similar to where she is now, however, this location is much closer to the family than where she is. We should have a better idea once they get up and running and start accepting residents as to how they will perform then make a decision.

A Place for Mom has scored Maple Glen Memory Care 9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
