Seniors with Alzheimer’s, dementia, or other forms of memory loss often benefit from living in a dedicated memory care community such as Lark Springs. This nonprofit community receives guidance from their managing partner, Greenbrier Senior Living, to provide high-quality care. Lark Springs uses a neighborhood model, making it easy for seniors to feel at home in familial settings. Four separate neighborhoods feature their own living room, kitchen, and dining areas, where residents can get to know their neighbors. Caregivers tend to the same group of residents each day, allowing relationships to form and giving residents an opportunity to bond and build trust with their caregivers.
A secure courtyard allows residents to experience all the beauty of Colorado Springs, with views of the bluffs and the woods of Palmer Park. Regular games and social events, along with spiritual and religious services, are offered on-site. Nearby, the Colorado Springs Pioneer Museum offers insights to the historical significance of Pikes Peak, while the Peterson Air and Space Museum features a rich military history surrounding the Peterson Air Force Base.
Lark Springs is an assisted living residence, which in the state of Colorado is a residential facility which provides personal services, protective oversight, social...

Let me preface my comments with the fact that this was during covid and they lost a housekeeper and were short handed. The nursing staff was very attentive and kept us informed. I understand it is hard to get good help for any position these days and care facilities even harder.

My mom currently resides at Lark Springs. For the money, it seems to be still quite expensive for what they provide, in my opinion. All categories could use improvement. There's been a couple of times where I visited my mom and her room was not cleaned. The food appears to be sub par, but edible. There seems to be no activities that I've seen thus far. Friendliness for the most part, the staff has been okay but there have been times where the staff appear to be grumpy or upset, and I've also noticed a high turnover rate of employees. I am still in the dark about the level of care that they provide. To be fair, it does appear that my mom is comfortable and enjoys being at the facility, so that's a plus and that's why she's still there.

Now that they have hired a new house keeper the cleanliness of the community has really improved. When we do come to see our loved one we have seen a few meals and they look appetizing with nice portion sizes and a variety of choices to pick from. Every time we come to visit there are always activities going on, they have a full time activity director that provided so many different things for the residents. We do like how the residents have the freedom to walk around the grounds. Compared to other communities in the area we do think this value is worth it. We would recommend this community to other families to come and check out to see if it will be a good fit for your loved one

My mother ambulatory. She can dress bath her self. She just can't remember anything else. The staff is kind to her, they have plenty of activities for her, she has her own locked room (private rooms hard to find), food is fine (not frozen meals), she seems happy overall. The front counter staff could be friendlier but the aids that care for her are good to her.

My husband was a resident at Lark Springs for only 5 weeks before he passed from Alzheimer's. He received much better care there, attention, and kindness than he had during his previous 15 months at another residence purportedly for Memory Care. The staff at Lark Springs are well trained, know what they are doing, treat the residents with respect, and care about them. I would recommend this facility for anyone whose loved one is suffering from Alzheimer's and/or advanced stages of dementia.

Our tour at Lark Springs was really good. The facility was nice. The staff greeted you quickly. We toured during a time of peak Covid and found the facility to be really clean. We were pleased to see how careful they were about Covid precautions. Their facilities were just farther away from where we live.
The community is a good place. It is a very clean community as well. The communication was good between the staff and families. I would change the financial staff due to not receiving a refund for my loved one's payment after passing.

The facility could not have given us better service, they were so kind to us and they took care of him up until the end. They truly cared and they were family. I would definitely recommend this community

My husband and I met with [name removed] this morning and took a tour of the facility. We felt at home right away. [Name removed] has a heart for the elderly and answered all of our questions. I will get back to her after we have a family meeting with out of state siblings over [date removed].

We looked at other communities but we chose this one was because they are strictly memory care. I feel good about mom being there because I know she is getting taken care of well I don't have to worry or stress over it. She is doing as many activities as we can get her to participate in. From what I am being told she is eating at every meal and seems to be enjoying the food. Every time we are there the community and her room is clean and well maintained. The staff is good they keep me updated when necessary they are open and friendly.

Brookdale Palmer Park provided the best care when my husband needed extra care to manage his dementia. We had placed him in two other facilities that said that they were secure but he was able to leave the facilities and put himself and others in danger. The staff at Brookdale Palmer Park worked to be sure that he would be completely secure and that they would do what it took to make him secure and well cared for. The Brookdale Palmer Park staff was by far the most caring and knowledgeable with which we had personal experience.

I had to move my mom into a higher level care community. She needed skilled nursing. The staff were nice the whole time and they were good at keeping me up to date. I would recommend them to my family and friends.

I loved this Brookdale when I toured. The lady that took me around was excellent. She was helpful and informative. The facility was very clean, and it was a good experience, but it was not the best fit for my mother.

I had helpful and friendly people giving me a tour and giving me useful resources. I felt they were fantastic people to work with. They were willing and always offering to help me find a good fit for my parents. It did not feel like a sales experience. In the end they did not have an availability for us.

This community is 100% dementia care and is secure. They have four little sections and my dad is able to go whenever he wants inside the community. They do have times when the residents are able to go outside. The staff know who I am and I have good communication with them. They seem to know the residents names and this community is good for assisted living for people with memory issues. He likes the food and I would recommend this community.

The process of admitting my parent went very smoothly. Since then, I've found communication with the staff to be very hit-and-miss. Feedback is practically non-existent. I understand that everyone is very busy, and I don't want to be that person that everyone avoids, but I don't feel a part of any "care team." My experience is that 1 out of 3 phone calls are returned - I usually have to make the follow-up call. No one talked to me about what "Family Council" on the calendar is about. When I ask a specific question, the response (at all levels) is usually "S/he's fine" or "We see that a lot" or "Most of our patients..." and I'm left with the feeling that I'm glad they remember the name. I guess I want a little more personalized care, or at least the illusion of it, before I lower my expectations. My parent seems to have adapted well. I think there is room for improvement for helping family members move from home care to institutional care.

Recently I attended a Valentine's Dance at Brookdale Palmer Park where my mother is a resident. What a joy it was to see the residents, families, and all the staff participate in a very special event. The atmosphere was inviting with fun decorations, excellent live music, and delicious snacks. Watching the residents dance with their sweethearts or a staff person was a blessing indeed. The residents faces would light up, and smiling they would join right in the dancing. My mom has Alzheimer's disease and sometimes is difficult to communicate with. This was an activity that encouraged her to enjoy herself just the way she is, and brought lots of smiles and laughter to her day. Thank You!

This is the worst place ever. If i would have known about their lack of care I would have not let my Grandma go there. They just don't care about their patients well being. Abd the cost is outragous.

I don't feel like all of the nursing staff is too friendly, or they are just not as friendly as the last place he was at. I see a lot of different nurses in his area, and I don't see the residents doing anything except watch TV. They let residents go outside and there is not an active monitor out there, and my dad has fallen when he's out there is just no telling how long he was out there before he got help.

A Place for Mom has scored Lark Springs 6.3 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
