Staff overall kind and friendly, activities personal extremely personable, downside people with higher end medical needs might be better served elsewhere. They did make a effort to meet his medical needs, but they just don't seem to be able to deal with catheter issues well, he had to be transported to the hospital 4 times in the short time he was there.... My father entered Brighton in April 2019 on a respite basis. We were told about their $2,000 referral credit special as an enticement to move in. Once he was in and we got our first bill, we asked about the credit. We were told it was only available to permanent residents (info conveniently withheld when we moved him in). My father ended up staying through September 2019. In July we were told that my father automatically became a permanent resident 30 days after move in. There is a $1500 move-in fee for permanent residents and they decided to charge us. We asked for the $2,000 credit but were told that we would only be getting the July referral promo credit which was sadly reduced to $1,000. We explained that the May credit was $2,000 and we requested it back then several times but were denied it. They refused to give us the other $1,000. Upon telling them we were leaving and serving out our 30 day notice, they failed to shower my father for almost two full weeks. My father begged for a shower and finally asked for my intervention. I called and demanded a shower that day but it still took three more days before he got one. Meanwhile a rash he had worsened. He was humiliated having to go down to the dining room and sit at tables with others while he smelled badly (he has issues with both urinary and mild fecal incontinence sometimes), and looking unkempt. He skipped several meals because he was embarrassed. When I called the director, [name removed], about this and asked that we be credited on the final bill for showering services and some meals, and I recorded the call, he apologized and said that he would find a way to reduce the final bill. He also said he'd look into the referral bait-and-switch. He told me he'd call me in a few days. Thereafter he failed to return my phone calls and emails. I've been getting bills with late fees attached as I await a promised adjustment that is never going to come. Even when I told him I was reporting him to various agencies etc. he didn't care. Run from this place! There are so many other facilities to choose from. We had a terrible experience here with more than just the director. The care coordinator, [name removed], is awful. In six months there we never had a single meeting about my dad's care. She canceled the only one we did have and never rescheduled. She knew about my dad not having a shower and still took days to get him one. I could go on and on. Just take your loved one somewhere else.

The tour was fine and [name removed] was very kind. There were many activities scheduled and they were varies which was nice. The apartments were very small and unfortunately when we got off the elevator I immediately smelled urine. I am a nurse and pretty sensitive to smells but it definitely was a con. I do like the program they have to transition people to home if possible. A nice place but not the place for my dad.

Terrible response time. Not a caring community. Only interested in profit margins. Unresponsive in emergencies

I thought the staff were very friendly and did an excellent job with giving my dad and I a tour of their memory Unit. It was very nice and well staffed, but for now, I do not feel that my father is ready for that type of care.

Everything is working out pretty well for my father with his move to this community. It is a nice facility, and I'am comfortable with his move here. He has settled in very nicely. They have a good staff, and they are taking good care of him, and his needs. When I come to visit the community, and his room are nice, and clean. They do a good job with the cleanliness. There are nice activities available, and the meals are very good. So far everything has worked out well for us in this community, and I would recommend it.

My father was in this community. I was not happy that they did not call an ambulance for my father to go to the emergency room. He did not go back after that. We were not happy. The community was nice and clean. The staff was not as helpful as we liked. The community is clean. The meals could use small improvements. We would suggest that families tour this community for the care of a loved one. Mayone takes more than one tour.

I toured Brighton Gardens when looking for my parents. It was a beautiful facility. I felt it wouldn't be a good fit for my parents because the apartment was smaller and didn't offer a kitchen.

This community seemed clean during my tour. The people I met were nice. This community felt like a hotel and did not have a homey feeling to it.

They have a nice garden they are hoping to enlarge at Brighton Gardens. They leave the doors open in the summer since the gate is locked so the residents can come and go as they like. When we first went there we had some excellent crab cakes and they make homemade soups. They have him interacting more with the other residents and enjoying some of the activities.

Well my loved one seems to be really happy over there at the Brighton Gardens of Westlake. My loved one has been gaining some weight while he is there too, so I think that it was a good choice for a facility.

A Place for Mom has scored Fairmont of Westlake 9.8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
