The director , and nurses, are great. The aides who I have worked with are good . But the newer ones may need a little more training. The cleanness is a 4 because the hallways carpets need to be replaced with linoleum and that should be in all the rooms not just some. The wear and tear takes a toll and it needs to be replaced. It looks bad. When I looked at Deer Park 4 years ago , before my aunt moved in I was told that all the rooms were changing floors and the hallway rugs would be replaced. 2 owners later nothing has changed about the hallway floors . Some rooms were done not all.... Read more

September 18, 2024Thank you for the wonderful review. Our plan every day is to enrich, engage and encourage our residents to be the best version of themselves. When an emergency arises, we conform to the immediate needs of the resident and community as a whole. Here at Deer Park, Our Residents take Precedence.
They did not have enough staff members to care for my Dad. Each day there was a new staff member. My Dad required assistance to get to his chair. A staff member let him fall. We were told he is in assistance living and he should be able do to this on his own He laid in the bed for a week before he was rushed to hospital. I would ask they would say he doesn't want to get up. I got him to read my writing and he said some let him fall. He had to lay there until they found someone to help.

Response from Deer Park Assisted Living
August 30, 2024Denise, I am sorry that your loved one's experience at Deer Park was not a pleasant one. It is required that our residents are capable of transferring and able to bear weight, with assistance. We offer 6 levels of care and are willing to conform to the needs of each individual. We try to be as consistent as possible with staffing and this is why we have had no agency use in our community since August 2022. I pray that you were able to find an appropriate community for your father. -Shaunna, Excutive Director
They are very carrying and did a great job caring for my Uncle. They are very personable and know all their residents by name I would highly recommend Deer Park to others looking.

My loved one is currently a resident at Deer Park Assisted Living and the overall experience has been very good for her so far. The staff and care services are very good. The cleanliness and friendliness are also good. I would recommend this facility to others as an option for Assisted Living for their loved ones.

May 9, 2024Thank you for the wonderful review. We strive to provide exceptional service and welcome new residents and their families in to share in the community atmosphere that has been created. Please know that we are here for you and your loved one and will continue to engage, enrich and encourage them to be the best version of themselves. Heartfelt, Shaunna
We took my dad here for respite care while we went out of town, and it was a terrible experience. We communicated my father's needs to the administrators but they apparently did not pass along the information to their staff. When they performed his evaluation, they hardly talked to him and barely evaluated his movement so they rated him at a lower level of care than he needed. His direct care staff were rude and unsympathetic, and he felt they did not like him and he felt they were angry at him for needing help. I ended up having to cut my trip short to come home and manage his care until we could get him back home. When I tried to talk to the staff about him, they each stated "he just needs to get used to us", in my opinion the mentality should have been the other way around. We had high hopes for this place as it came highly recommended by A Place For Mom but it was AWFUL.

May 9, 2024Danielle, I do apologize for the bad experience your family had at Deer Park. We strive to do our best with each resident and work hard daily to correct and fine tune all care provided and communication with families. Your father was a very pleasant man and I wish you all the best. Shaunna
This place has been a blessing for my mom. This has been home away from home for my mom. She loves the food and variety of drinks. They clean her room every day and help her on everyday tasks. I visit every day after work so I see the effort they are making to make her feel at home. And the director knows everyone by name and mingles with them. She is extra special in the job she has to make them feel comfortable, not just her but all the staff are friendly and when I leave after my visit with my mom I feel like we made the right decision on Deer Park Assisted Living.

I would say that was an alright place but not great. A lot of what mom needed was not met so I'd recommend they go somewhere else.

Response from Deer Park Assisted Living
April 17, 2024I am truly sorry that your loved ones needs could not be met here at Deer Park. We are an Assisted Living facility who conforms each of our care plans to fit the needs of each individual. I pray that you were able to find a wonderful community that was able to meet your loved ones care needs. - Shaunna
Mom’s health and mobility seemed to decline overnight. It became imperative that she be relocated from her second floor apartment, where she lived alone. To a place with no stairs and a community with people of similar needs. The director of Deerpark was very accommodating and empathetic to our needs. My sister and I live out of state and our schedules prevented us from immediately traveling to Ohio. With that said we were unable to physically see the apartment. The director arranged a live tour and answered all of questions on the spot. My mother, who was reluctant to move, absolutely loved the location, facility and staff. She feels comfortable and at home in her own apartment. Thank you

February 7, 2024Thank you for the wonderful review. Glad to hear your mom is feeling at 'home'. Here at Deer Park, our "residents take precedence!' Shaunna
The staff were very help, understanding and patient with my family. They did not stalk us with phone calls and gave us all the information we needed to make our decision and what next steps might look like. We are looking forward to our relative moving in the Wickshire Deer Park.

My loved one's care at Wickshire Deer Park has brought peace of mind. I don't feel the need to frequently check on his wellbeing, I know he is well cared for.

I think Wickshire Deer Park is a good option to explore if you are interested in extended care / assisted living for a family member. In our family's experience, there was nothing that hugely stood out as either negative or positive. They do a have small number of exemplary employees. I've found that places are mostly the same. It just depends on what fits your budget.
They are so good about communication with the families. They go out of their way to help you when it comes to finding the best fit for your loved ones. They check in on them frequently and are just very personable with all of the residents. They know everyone by name, so they are not just a number. The lady who turns the place [name removed] is awesome and easy to work with. He is so happy here and I would absolutely recommend Wickshire Deer Park to others.

The woman who runs Wickshire Deer Park is fantastic. I thought she was incredible - I give her 5 out of 5 stars. She seemed very caring and knew everybody's name. She seemed to have a handle on everything that was going on in the facility. And she just made you feel good about bringing a loved one there. Everybody looked well taken care of. The facility was clean but older and in need of extensive updating. Also, the rooms didn’t seem as easily accessible for my loved one who uses a wheelchair.
Our whole family was welcomed with open arms, not just my mother. And that was important - because even though my mother is the resident, she isn't' the only one going through something. Also, the way they speak to the residents and care for them is what you would want for your loved one. Even though the facility doesn't have all the bells and whistles, they make up for it with the care they provide. And that's what was most important to us.

We picked this community, becasue it was close and weneeded something quickly. They need to improve on the cleanliness and need more interaction between the staff and family members. I am dissapointed in the evaluation for the level of care, and I feel we are being charged more than what we should be.

Overall, it has been a good experience. They are unable to run personal errands or assist in moving into the community. Otherwise, it is everything I expected. The community will only provide transportation to community outings, and medical appointments for the residents. There are three meals a day, and there is one special a day. There is an anytime menu for the residents to choose from as well. The community isn't always able to accommodate my dietary restrictions. It would be nice to have a weekly menu to know what the meals will be, since we have a fridge in the apartment, and we can plan accordingly.

Dad moved in and was seem less. Associates at Wickshire are working with us on things. Associates made me feel like dad was welcomed and that they will take care of him well.

During the tour the community felt dated due to the decor.
My loved one was very happy here and this was a pretty well rounded community. I have seen people with different ailments and all of them seem to be really happy at this community. I would recommend for your loved one.
