My loved one has not lived there since the end of November. They did not have the capability to care for him, so they asked him to leave. He moved to [facility name removed] which is a much better fit for him- better caregiver/resident ratios.

July 25, 2024Maintaining a safe, healthy, friendly environment is always at the forefront of our minds and at the core of everything we do. If you have questions or would like to discuss this matter further, please reach out to our Executive Director at toldham@seniorlifestyle.com.
The staff is super friendly but getting things done is next to impossible. They have even come into my loved ones apartment multiple times at 6am to give meds (it was the wrong apartment apparently). They were charging $[removed]/month EACH for medication assistance that we never signed up for. The food is awful (inedible according to both of them) and we just found out that my dad has lost a significant amount of weight. At times, they didn't bring them dinner at all even though they had ordered it. (They pay $[removed]/mo for their dinners to be brought to them.) We are now having to look into an alternate meal delivery service. I realize every place will have some issues however, they've been there since [date removed] and it's still happening (the med assistance happened again yesterday morning.) It's frustrating. My husband has become their handyman since they can't get anyone to fix leaks and such. That said, the staff is very friendly. The apartment itself is spacious, homey and bright with an outdoor balcony and a nice view. And the van driver ([name removed], I think) is wonderful and takes great care of my dad when he takes him to work and back twice a week.

June 20, 2023Our residents love when family and friends come to visit. So do we! Thanks for dropping by and leaving us this great review.
Our tour at Barrington of Oakley was good. For my loved one's particular needs, we just preferred a smaller community, and also one that focused solely on memory care.

January 10, 2023Thank you for considering our community. Along with personal care, giving our residents an active, uplifting lifestyle is at the heart of what we do. We’re grateful for your review.
Barrington of Oakley looked like a good place for my loved one. What stood out to me: the activities, friendliness, cleanliness - and the all-around facilities.

November 16, 2022One great visit deserves another. Please check out our calendar of activities and events and join us for one that is of interest to you. See you again soon!
I think what my dad likes the most about Barrington is everyone is so friendly and willing to do anything for him, (he says). When it comes to activities, they always seem to have something going on. There's always bingo, and happy hour every night with a musical guest geared towards the residents age group. The other day they took them on a putt-putt golf outing, with ice cream afterward. For Father's Day they had a social, and they brought in four trombone players. There's always something going on; if you can't find anything to do, then that's kind of on you. My dads apartment came with a fully equipped kitchen, and a washer & dryer in unit. The bathroom and shower is nice, because it comes with a built-in shower chair. The apartment is already equipped for cable and a phone, you just bring in your own furniture from home. Overall, I would highly recommend Barrington of Oakley to others.

June 24, 2022We’re so grateful you noticed all the things we do to make your loved one feel happy and at home. From great dining to fun events and activities, we really do believe our community is a wonderful place to live. And we’re glad you think so too.
June 2022 move out. Her wash cloths thrown away instead of washed and towels cut up again. Her wedding present silverware for 8 has all but disappeared. There were 2 types of fork for total of 16 she has 1 fork left, 1 spoon, 0 tea spoons and 3 soup spoons. Should have 8 of each. they do not care about your belongings and help themselves. Manager laughed and said it happens all the time, Her storage locker had the lock removed and her walker stole head nurse said they did inventory on un marked lockers during covid. Her name tag is still on the locker just like all the other lockers so it's theft and lies all around. Many videos of her being dropped, no response from management. And never once an apology. Too many issues. They only contacted my brother who was out of town and couldn't see what was going on. Apparently she had Dr appts we know nothing about. No one ever called. She had cameras and this still happened. They would also deny what was on the video actually happened...

They have been very responsive, and they moved Mom in quickly. The community offers plenty of activities, including happy hours. She really needed the socialization aspect, and it has been a great fit for her. They have an ambassador program with one ambassador on each floor, which I thought was a great idea. So when she first moved in, somebody came by and took her to dinner. They do a nice job of helping out new residents. And Mom is very happy with the food as well.

This is well worth the money, compared to nursing homes. I think it is pretty good. The staff are good to work with. My loved one loves the food, it is like eating in a five star resort. There are different activities available each day for the residents. Some include basket weaving, games, happy hour, and more.

Ask about the training of the staff, The patient staff ratio, what enhancements are included in memory other than just locked doors justifies the cost for memory care. Communication was not good with the staff and I would not recommend this community to others.

I think it is great choice for my mom. They make a lot of effort to engage the residents and help them remain involved. They have done a good job with Covid-19. The food is good and there are lots of choices.

July 2, 2020Thank you! We appreciate the kudos more than ever and will pass them to our deserving staff! So glad you feel you made the right choice for your mom!
My parents are happy with Barrington of Oakley. The food is so-so, not much of a variety. Not much of a view. Staff has been great. They are doing a good job with communication with my brother and I during the quarantine. I have been impressed with the head nurse, she has been really helpful and positive. My dad was really happy with the activities before the quarantine.

I have enjoyed every meal to date and the dining room staff is terrific. Everyone of the staff has gone out of their way to make my stay here enjoyable

April 20, 2018Thank you for sharing your review of Barrington of Oakley; we appreciate your feedback!
[Removed], Thank you very much for your assistance. As of this afternoon, we have toured the Barrington of West Chester and Oakley once and [Removed] (the second time with our Son and Daughter). Out impressions are as follows: o [Removed] is the least impressive and may be the most expensive after paying for the utilities not included in their monthly rental o [Removed] is one of the nicest places but we cannot justify their buy-in fee of $188,000 or more o The Barrington of West Chester is too far from both our Son and Daughter o The Barrington of Oakley is nice and has a plus be including three meals per day. However, their lunch and dinner menus contain only two choices which is a bit restrictive o We were quite impressed with the [Removed] with the variety of lunch and dinner entree choices, the variety of their activities, the availability of wine with dinner, and more o We will place a deposit with the [Removed] for an apartment for the spring time-frame. I had a good tour of this community, everyone was kind. It was a good experience, and I didn't have any problems. The community appeared to be well-kept, and well maintained. The staff was friendly. All went well, but this wasn't the community for husband, and his needs.

January 10, 2018Thank you so much for your feedback. We would love to hear any additional thoughts you have on how we can create a five star experience. Please feel free to contact us directly at our community phone number!
My tour of the Barrington went well, but the thing we did not like was that the assisted living and independent living residents were all mixed together. We wanted a place where things were dedicated to a certain level of care. The place was nice and so was the people but it was not the place for my father.

Beautiful facility; nice rooms and the amenities are easy to reach, that is, it is not too big. Lots of activities, transportation, etc. for seniors who are still active.
