I have been very pleased with my mother’s care since she moved into Commonwealth Senior Living. The front desk is very nice and polite. Management is very professional and helpful. The nursing staff is skilled and on top of the residents for addressing their needs and concerns. The maintenance crew is great with fixing any problems and making sure the residents are taken care of. The cooks make delicious healthy meals for the residents. Overall, I am very happy for my mother’s care. I know when I am not here I can trust she is taken care of.

When we arrived the room was under construction and very dirty. The staff would say they would be back with medication and then not show up. The place was too expensive. The staff was somewhat friendly but never followed through with what they said they were going to provide. The food was adequate but often late and not what was on the menu (and sometimes cold). Management was dishonest with regard to pricing (and services) and once we removed our mother I kept getting bills for time after we were no longer using the facility. In other words, these bills were for a time when my mother was not in residence. The activities were okay. Socializing with other residents was the best part.

I recently explored senior care communities in & around Stafford, Quantico & Fredericksburg, and wow, Commonwealth Stafford really stood out. While it’s a beautiful, quaint and well manicured facility, it was the atmosphere and consistent feeling of love and family that makes them top of our list. We visited 9 assisted living, independent living and memory care locations over the span of a week, all nice communities around the same price points, & Commonwealth Stafford far exceeds the others. We’ve been back for a second visit just to be sure, & felt the love again. The staff were joking and sharing embraces with the residents, authentically! It’s hard to explain but it’s a feeling that lingers with you when you feel peace & genuine love throughout. This has been an emotional walk filled with self-doubt, guilt & overwhelmed feelings, but we are so thankful to have found a genuine home-like feel at this community. I’m actually excited to move our loved one in!

Commonwealth is a good residential advanced stage dementia/ Alzheimer's facility. The grounds and overall building are nice, and the programming is excellent for end stage dementia patients.

We picked this community, because of the location, care provided, and locked memory care The food is great, and it's personalized to meet the residents needs. The staff are very good, compassionate. I would definitely recommend this place to others .

You would have to stay on top of the staff in regards to cleaning the residents. They could improve on communication.

The biggest issue is the staff, does not respond fast enough to the call button. My loved one is not getting the level of care, that they are paying for. They need to improve on response time, and they need to hire more staff.

The first point of contact is a lady name [name removed]. She does an outstanding job. You can go to her, even though she's in sales, with any questions, comments, or concerns at any time, and she's always available. A lot of the care staff are really fantastic. There are a few here and there we try to avoid, but I would say the care is above average for assisted living. And the facility is very nice and homey. They do a great job at making spaces look like your home. And even the cooking staff are always trying to accommodate.

We toured Commonwealth Senior Living Stafford and the facility and community is smaller. WE kept reaching out to them and they would never return our calls or get back to us. I don't think that they were going to be able to handle my loved ones mobility issues.

You need to be cognitive of where your loved one is in terms of memory care. One of our biggest issues was my loved one was bored. They had lots of activities, but nothing he was interested in. So he mostly sat around watching TV. The people were very nice, caring, and very upbeat w him; I know they tried. But, again, our biggest issue circled around him feeling bored - which resulted in him calling home a lot.

Commonwealth Senior Living is very clean, we always saw house keeping cleaning and picking up after our loved one. The care services that came from the aids and the new director were amazing. They were always so nice, kind and caring to our loved one and family. The new director is really starting to get the activities going again, and she really encouraged our loved one to get out and be social. Where some things fell short was the head nurse and certain services. We expected certain services to happen that were important to us, and they did not. So we were not very impressed with that. Also the head nurse just had a really hard time keeping up communication with us, it was always difficult to set up meetings and get the nurse involved.

When we did get to come visit the meals and dining service looked to be very good, and all the rooms we were able to see looked really nice. The friendliness of the staff members really varied on who you spoke with. Some were very nice and some were very difficult to work with. Also we were not overall impressed with the value for cost - they quoted us one thing and tacked on all these other prices that were not brought to our attention.

Our family had an in person tour and it was very nice but smaller than what we were looking for. Since it was smaller it did not seem like they had enough resources and amenities on site. However the people were very nice and it was kept really clean. very nice but smaller then what we were looking not enough ersouraces and facility on site peopel were veyr nice and place and clean

Because of this, we notice changes in care needs quickly and are able to address them. We chose Commonwealth because of the close location, they were willing to work with us on the cost to try and get it as close to our cap as possible. The room sizes at the facility are smaller, my mom is in a shared room but they are not in their rooms a whole lot. They do offer a lot of activities for the residents and they are always keeping them busy. They have had a lot of turnover with the administrative staff and communication has suffered so they could improve there. They have an online portal that we can check and they check off things they are doing everyday. The staff that work with residents are phenomenal, very friendly, and informative and take care of her needs very well. The staff to resident ratio is always good and they keep great tabs on the residents. I would definitely recommend to others looking.

We have been very happy with the love and care our loved one has received. When we were able to visit the community was very clean and there were no fowl smells. the staff has been wonderful and they treat our loved one as we would. They are very good to him. During COVID when they would usually be getting visit from families, they were trying their best to keep everyone active and engaged.

Four directors in 20 months. Poor communication with families. One bingo game all summer. This was the only activity. When there were activities it was bingo everyday. Residents have rarely seen the activities director and for several months they did not know who she was. Room and bathroom not cleaned in at least a month. Toilet filthy week after week. Replaced carpet. New carpet too plush for wheel chair. Transitioning from carpet to floor and vice versa is extremely difficult with wheel chair and a trip hazard with walker.
