Celebration Villa of York

It is a family type environment everybody knows my Mom by name. Lots of events to try to get relatives to spend time with residents. Love Celebration Villa of York!

Staff is very friendly and not only helped our parents to adjust to a new way of life but helped the family adjust as well. They work hard at creating a community atmosphere and it shows. Very welcoming.

Staff that connects and cares for the residents. Small enough to feel more like a family environment. Special activities sponsored often to include families with the residents to share together.

It is a good choice. We picked this community because of the friendly staff and it was more fitting for my mom.

I think it's a little expensive but I have only a full blown nursing home to compare it to. The care weekly 8-5 is very good. Weekends and late evenings could be better although recently it seems to have improved. Competent staff for those hours I'm sure is difficult to find.

The staff is very available and caring. The facility is small enough (only around 60 residents) and that feels much "homier" versus a large complex. Plus, they really welcome families of the residents and have many special events to come together and socialize.

I would recommend the community based on the level of care that your loved one needs. If your loved one needs basic needs this would be a good place. However, if your loved one needs anything additional other than the basic needs, the community doesn't have enough staffing to care for the residents full needs. There are three meals a day served to the residents and the residents have choices to choose from.

It's positive as long as you don't need any specialized medical care. I'm ran into an issue because my dad needed more help than an assisted living place can handle. Communication between the community and me & my family has been good. They mostly communicate through email and phone call. I would describe their staff as very nice and helpful. I'd also like to give a shoutout to my advisor from A Place for Mom, [name removed]. She was very super helpful and very personable. Obviously, it's a very emotional time and she was very comforting as well as helpful. I looked forward to having her call.

My loved one feels like it is living on vacation and everyone waits on you and supports the residents. The staff communication with the family is great and they are quick to respond to questions or concerns the family has. They are very helpful. The food is bland according to my loved one, and it would be nice to have more seasonings available. They serve powder eggs which my loved one doesn't care for. It would be nice to see better options and more variety of food offered. There is happy hour each week, painting, bingo, outings, shopping, drives, and more for activities for the residents to participate in.

My brother was a very picky eater; but now he's eating, gaining weight, and he likes the food they make. He's even asked the kitchen, "If I want more sausage, can I bring it in for you to fix it?", and they have. They've accommodated him by fixing things he likes, as well as preparing canned soups I'll bring in for him. As far as activities go, my brother isn't a joiner he's more of a learner. They have communion services every Monday, and mass every 2nd Wednesday. He does join in and likes that. They were very helpful in getting everything set up. I've actually referred a couple people to take a look, and although they were unable to move in - they did tour the community. I've been very pleased with the the facility and the staff. They worked with me to get things expedited so that he was only in transitional healthcare for one day before he moved in. They didn't waste any time accessing him; normally it takes about 5 days, but they were able to do it in less. I was trying to get him out of transitional healthcare quickly because he was losing a lot of weight and not eating. They worked with me to get him out as quickly as possible. As soon as I put the deposit down, they sent a nurse over to access him the next morning. He was evaluated on the [date removed] and moved in three days later. They were very swift, efficient, and helpful during that time. He's adjusting, he's met a few people down the hall from him. He's introverted, but he's slowly meeting people and adjusting here. Celebration also offers transportation to his doctor appointments within a 25 mile radius, and a flat rate fee for anything further - which has been very convenient. I told one of the residents, "If I had to move into a place, I'd like to be sent here!"

We have had a pretty positive experience with the community. I would suggest giving some grace to get loved one acclimated with the community and staff and vice versa. I have recommended the community to others in the past. My loved one thinks the food served is really good. There choices for dinner for the residents to choose from.

It was nice. We haven't had any huge complaints. It served its' purpose for me, where somebody was making sure my loved one was fed every day and got his medications and those kinds of things. Before he moved here, he wasn't able to do those things for himself or simply wouldn't do them, and he would go without for the day until I got home. I think they offer nice activities. And overall I think everything went well. The people I talked to seemed nice, and it seems like a nice place to live.

The main problem is waiting for assistance. They are grossly understaffed. When you need assistance, sometimes it's an hour to wait rather than the seven minutes they tell you it's going to take. My loved ones say the food is very poor quality, and they are not happy with it. But both the staff and the residents are all very friendly And the facility seems very clean. Their room is clean, and the whole facility looks really good.

It's the best place to go for respite care. I love the whole atmosphere, the friendliness, the warm welcome. My dad is getting ready to go again to visit in the near future. The living spaces are big, with plenty of room. Dad said he was very impressed with the care he received. He met a bunch of friends there and had a lot of people to talk to, including a lot of military people. And he's looking forward to talking to them again. The only problem I foresee is when we picked up his bags, they said everything was in there, but his diabetic insulin pen was not there. And they couldn't seem to find it. So they took a bit of a downfall in my eyes because that's expensive,and he needs that. So that's something I will keep an eye on this time for sure. My mom was living alone for 12 years after dad died, but over Christmas she stayed with us for 3 weeks and we got a true look at how much help she needed every day. She kept forgetting to take her pills, she wouldn't shower (only "bird bath" but she still had an odor), and the worst of it was she was becoming unstable on her feet. My wife visited facilities and liked this one the best because it's "homey" We took mom to see it and she went from saying "Im not moving, I'm fine at home" to "I could put my dresser here, and my corner hutch here". It's been a couple months and though we've had to stick with video chats and window visits due to covid rules, my mom has stayed safe and the facility is efficient in keeping the people there safe, healthy and happy. Now that restrictions have lifted we can go in and visit her in person. My wife agrees that mom has definitely gained weight back, and we notice she's just happier. The staff make her feel loved and she enjoys chatting with them.

The staff members were very friendly and nice, but there were times where it seemed like the nursing staff was not very experienced. The food was pretty good and the value for cost was just okay.

The community has a high turnover in staff, tending to the medical needs of the residence is lacking. Communication is average but they do not return calls quickly. If your loved one is completely independent this facility may work for you if not I would look elsewhere
