The staff at Brookdale is very pleasant and friendly. The sales agent [name removed] with whom we worked to get [name removed] in was great. She was so helpful and patient with him. We had difficulty for several months getting [name removed] a regular shower and I'm not so sure he gets medical check-ups as frequently as he should; then again, it's not clear to me what frequency is typical in such facilities. There don't seem to be many activities offered at Brookdale for the residents, but that may be a function of the profile of residents. Although I've not eaten a meal at Brookdale, I regularly ask [name removed] what he's had for meals. He is not a picky eater and not one to complain, but from what he tells me, the quality and variety of what he is served could use some improvement.... Read more

My husband and sister-in-law fell in love with this place when they toured it. We had a few additional places we were scheduled to go, but they didn't feel the need to look any further. The staff are all very friendly, and it's a nice clean community. They provide a wonderful array of activities, and my mother-in-law has really started to get involved and participate in many of them. And she absolutely loves the food. She said it is so good and they give you so much she worries she may be overweight soon!

We felt that they were nice, they have a dementia unit in the basement basically so it wasn't very appealing as a place mother would live every day. It was clean, I think the company that runs it runs a tight ship, it wasn't a bad place, the Solana just fit our needs better.

Anywhere you go there's always growing pains but I feel like there's too many cooks in the kitchen and everyone thinks someone else is going to take care of things. I know it's assisted lviing and they want your loved ones to be somewhat independent but I feel like if the family doesn't speak up nothing happens. Everyone that I've talked to has been very friendly and helpful but they aren't really doing anything. I feel like they take wonderful care of my loved one when they do care for them and that's where I'm struggling. It's a good environment, they're happy with the food there, they like everybody and everybody's pleasant with him, its more an issue with follow through and its all talk; they say things and it never happens. It's frustrating!

(Value Not Rated) We haven't really had any issues with this community. Everything seems to get going great. The reason we chose them is because it made the most sense financially. They really offer the best value for the services they are offering.

A Place for Mom has scored Brookdale Northampton 9.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
