Very good impressions but don't follow through with what they say! Cleanliness-excellent. Friendly staff. Horrible corporate medical staff. [name removed] try's to increase costs but's has total lack of care and personality! Worst person I have ever worked with!!!!! Totally understaffed with long time of checking up on their patients. Meals were very good when dad first went in but ended up with smaller amounts and quality is bad. Most residents are complaining with no action!!! Activities seen to be good! Toooooo expensive and try to get more out of our vets . Corporate had no idea what they are doing. I would do a better job with no experience! The manager [name removed] is outstanding and should be use as a trainer or top leader!

Staff is very friendly and always helpful. I would recommend Brookdale Medical Center Kingsley to other families looking. It ended up being a good fit for my dad and his needs.

1 very overpriced for health care, 3-4 cost of just the room. I was somewhat impressed at first about the facility. They weren't organized with all the paperwork that needed to be done before dad could move in. Every time I turn around we need this before he can move in. Part of it was my fault because I took advantage of a discount for as long as he lives there but still. They are working with me on some of the other issues that was suppose to be done but I feel like I was miss lead. Hopefully this isn't too much information but I feel like people need to be aware of how things are being handled.

They seem to have an issue holding on to a Medical Director. I understand that it's a lot of work and requires some management experience, which a lot of LPN's don't have. It's possible they need to consider hiring a BSN or an RN. The housekeeping is good. We just moved my mom to Memory Care and she is doing well. The food is okay to me. Some days better than others. My mom is spoiled by going out to eat. Keeping staff is challenging at times and I get that. The tenured staff that they do have is wonderful. They love and care for my mom and that's what matters. They keep me informed of any concerns. I would recommend this facility to other families.

Response from Brookdale Medical Center Kingsley
August 14, 2023Thank you for choosing Brookdale and taking the time to share your feedback. We would welcome an opportunity to discuss any concerns you may have and encourage you to contact our management team.
The main reasons we chose Brookdale Medical Center Kingsley was because of the age and upkeep of facility, and while my father has not yet progressed to memory care, I felt like they had a comprehensive memory care program should we get to that stage so I can keep him in the same facility. Staff has all been great. There has not been a lot of caretaker turnover which is helpful in establishing a relationship/rapport and care. They take the time to listen to my father to male sure they understand his needs and provide consistent service. I always feel welcomed and get regular updates so I feel we have established joint responsibility in the care of my Dad. Only negative comment my father has voiced is bland food but he is more accustomed to lots of spice. On that note, the kitchen manager does call monthly to check on how things are.

The food seems to be goo. They have Bingo and puzzles available for the residents, in which they provide social activites. My loved ones were going through an adjustment period, so be patient. I was very impressed with the services provided by Brookdale, My love ones were well cared for, and Brookdale did a good job. Even with them being short staffed, they still but forth the effort to take care of my loved ones.

The community has wonderful activities for the residents to participate in. The staff are good at engaging the residents into the activities. It is a wonderful community. During the tour, the marketing person was so involved in the entire community, and this was great. The staff are kind, caring, and willing to help the residents whenever needed. All the staff are involved with all the jobs to make sure everything gets done. The way the staff pitch in was wonderful and really sold us on the community. There are three meals a day and a menu for the residents to choose from for the entrees. The staff are willing to assist my loved one in ordering and cut the food up as well. My loved one doesn't have a complaint about the food. The laundry, changing of linens, housekeeping, transportation, all the meals, utilities and WIFI and the room is included in the monthly fee. The apartment is big enough for a wheelchair to get around in. There is a small refrigerator, a bedroom, and a bathroom in the apartment, and a television.

I think that this community is fine if your loved one just needs a little assistance. If your loved one needs a lot of care then this is not going to be the place for them. There is a lack of consistency with the activities and there was no back up plans so the residents end up just kind of sitting around. When they did have activities things were great for the residents in memory care.

It's okay. I'm still looking for another place, but they're alright. The main thing is I wanted my loved one to have plenty of activities and not be bored, but she seems to always be bored. She says they only sometimes have things going on. So I wish they had more activities.

We toured Brookdale and the recruiting lady that I met with was fantastic and all of the staff that we met were just great. The setting of the facility was not as great as the one that we went with, it had more concrete but I feel like we had a great fallback if it did not work out with the other facility we went went.
The community was pleasantly decorated. We were there for a short amount of time. The staff were friendly, professional, and kind. The manager was very organized in getting the vaccinations and invited caregivers to be able to see our loved one. They even allowed for essential caregivers to be able to be trained to see your loved one. They took care of making sure that new residents had to be confined for 2 weeks to ensure no exposure of COVID to other residents or staff. The community worked with us on pricing, and this was one of the more affordable communities we toured. They remodeled the room for us.

Someone stole medication from my husband when he was at the hospital for a medical procedure. My husband fell and he pushed his button and no one helped him, I showed up and he was still on the floor in the room. After these experience here, we decided to move him out.

3875+ Lovely place and friendly but I think my parents will want more room (like a separate bedroom with doors) and it's too expensive compared to the other two I visited.

Friendly staf, f clean common areas but the main model pt room couldn’t be seen. The “ vacation key” did not work . It’s important to realize their one bedroom is not two rooms. The bed is visible -so more like a bedroom with small sitting space at the end of of the bed. Also there’s no real kitchenette. It’s one very narrow cabinet with very small microwave and tiny “dorm style “ refrigerator without any freezer section. Tiny sink ( about 10 in diameter) no counter space located on wall just as you enter the room. Good location Positive attributes. One story rating more like 31/2 stars

I went on a tour here the staff was very nice and very informed. We were looking for the assisted living here fo my father-in-law. It was dated but was clean and spacious. I recommend families tour several places before making a choice.

What really drew me to this community was the fact they are more geared towards the medical aspect of things. My Father, unfortunately, has some medical problems including diabetes and I really wanted to find a place that would best suit the care he needs. Everything is so well maintained here. It's very well kept and clean. There is no odor like you would expect there to be. The staff is very attentive and responsive to any issues that arise. They are also very nice and friendly to my Father. They do offer activities including arts/crafts, occasional field trips, exercise, and yoga. There is a calander of activities and every day they have a different activity. I highly recommend this community.

I brought my Father to this facility because it was recommended to me and I needed to move him in quickly. Everyone is nice here and the care is top notch. The food is really good and the dining room is restaurant style seating. The only thing I have a problem with is the management isn’t taking leadership of the staff. No one takes responsibility with doing the small things. The dining tables don’t have the right menus, the creamer and sugar are never filled, and my dad still doesn’t have his name on his door 2 months later. It’s like the small things don’t matter to them. They only have 1 maintenance guy and I told the staff that the bathroom to the general public is broken and it still isn’t fixed. We also told him a few times that the door going from my dad’s room to the courtyard is broken and won’t lock. It finally just got fixed a few nights ago. The other thing I do not like is I was told by the head nurse, “We don’t do open wounds.” Anytime something happens they send my Father to the hospital. He recently had a fall and my dad is trying to not ask for more pain medication because he doesn’t want to get sent to the hospital again. I like this community and I would recommend it for the right person.

My mom lived in the memory care section for almost 10 months. The first couple of months went well, but things went down hill quickly. They stopped bathing her, brushing her teeth and her room began to smell like urine. I asked many times for someone to take care of these basic needs, but nothing changed. The staff left my mom in a wooden chair in the living room all day, every day. This wore a bald spot on her head and left an indentation as well. During the last 7 months she fell 8 times. Nothing was done after any fall to prevent another one. The last fall left the entire side of her faced bruised. [Removed], who is suppose to be In charge of care plans never made an effort to implement any changes to prevent her falls. His attitude was unprofessional, offensive and aggressive. I told [Removed], the executive director that I didn't feel safe leaving my mom there any longer, but she still wouldn't waive the 30 day move out notice.[Removed] had no empathy for my mom. I would not recommend this location to anyone. I ended up finding a much higher quality home that ended up costing over $1,000 less per month.
