My parents were only there for 8 weeks. It was not a good fit for them. It is a very nice community but I have since learned that there are 2 types of assisted living communities. Some that are socially focused and some that have more focus on health care needs. Bowman is more focused on social and my parents needed more health care support.... Read more
On the outskirts of Manchester, the largest city in New Hampshire, lies Bedford, a forested hamlet with New England charm. Bedford boasts a winning combination of rural and suburban living. While most of the town is covered in dense evergreen trees and traffic noise is nonexistent, Boston is just an hour away and a large commercial area with most retail chains and local stores is within 15 minutes. For classic coastal views, Portsmouth is also just an hour away. Instead of saying Bedford is near green spaces, it’s more accurate to say that Bedford is sprinkled within green spaces. Residents at Bowman Place at Olde Bedford are privileged to live in a comfortable and modern facility within an untouched slice of the American wilderness.
Situated on 16 acres of landscaped walking trails within the spectacular local scenery, Bowman Place offers seniors community living with subdued luxury. Apartments are outfitted with modern, stainless steel appliances, and the tastefully decorated common areas encourage residents to socialize and enjoy themselves. Families and seniors can choose from many floor plans, including assisted living studios and memory care two-bedroom suites.
Bowman Place offers both assisted living and memory care and prides itself on providing seniors with a...

It's as good if not better than most places Nursing is not great, there is a lot of turnover in healthcare personnel and many who call themselves nurses are not RNs. There are many people working there who do not speak English well enough to be understood. But these issues are probably across the board in most facilities like this. Overall I am glad that my mother is there but I do have to stay on top of everything to make sure she is getting the care she needs, especially now as she is getting weaker.

The fact that all the residents are happy and like the facility is why I chose this facility for my mother over many other places we initially looked into. My mother has a one bedroom apartment. It has a separate living room with a kitchenette. It is very spacious compared to other facilities we looked at. I would definitely recommend Bowman Place at Olde Bedford to other families searching.

My family and loved one have had a great experience with Bowman Place. The community is always clean when we visit. The staff are kind, caring, and helpful. They are good at encouraging the residents to get our of their apartments and socialize with each other. There are always activities to participate in. Overall, this is a community we would recommend to others for their loved ones.

My husband was a resident here at Bowman Place at Olde Bedford. His legs became very swollen and I mentioned it to the head nurse. My daughter also mentioned it to a nurse assistant and she did not seem to know much. This went on until Friday, then the head nurse [name removed] said she called the doctor and he said to take my husband to urgent care. We did, by ambulance from the facility. They said he had Edema and Cellulitis. It was so bad that his legs were leaking after bringing him back to Bowman Place. Two days later, the facility had done nothing for him and we moved him back home. I was hoping that they would step up, considering the lack of care that my husband got, and give us back our security deposit. But no, they even charged us because we did not give them 30 days notice. My husband is still being treated for it by our family doctor. So no, I would not ever recommend this facility to anyone. I'm still furious every time I look at my husband's legs. He went into Bowman Place okay and came out a mess.

Since the community itself is newer it is very clean and always has been clean, but they do have some problems with their electricity as well as their heat. When our loved ones first move in we had some issues with the staff members and communication. We think they caused a lot of stress for our father while he was there and there was an incident we had with another staff member that caused a violet night for us. However, our mother seems to be happier now and with the activities, we do see different things posted up on her door as well as throughout the community and they do have a busy system that takes them shopping around town occasionally.

We chose Bowman Place because of the convenient location, the value for the money compared to others we saw, and we also just like the atmosphere and physical look of the facility. It is very well kept and is bright and open. Sometimes they do not follow through on some issues we have had. We have to repeatedly ask about it. It gets done, but it is slow. I would recommend Bowman Place to other families.

We went with Bowman Place over others we looked at because it was newer, brighter and cleaner. It also had better location for us as a family as well. I would definitely recommend that others come take a look - it is a great group of people they have here and the facility is very nice and clean.

What really stood out to us about Bowman Place is the staff, we felt that the team was on top of things, they all seemed very nice and they were very open for us. We were going through a tough time with our loved ones and they were very helpful with the transition. It is a new facility and based on our experience so far we would recommend this community to other families.

This was a good community. We choose a different community that better suited one loved one primarily.
Bowman Place itself is wonderful. My biggest challenge right now, and I understand it is all over the country, is that the community needs more staffing to care for the residents. For any of the ratings below 5 I was referring to the lack of staffing regarding them. The communication is good with the family if we have questions or concerns about our loved one.

We had a good tour with Bowman Place at Olde Bedford. The facility is brand new and very big. Since it was so new there were very little residents who lived here yet. We figured it was probably a good idea to give them some time to get established.
With Covid, it's made it difficult with restrictions in place. But I'm sure that's what everyone else is going through as well. Aside from that, everything at Bowman Place has been fine. One of the only downsides is there are not a lot of people in the facility, so there really isn't a lot of interaction between residents. I would like to see a community room where the residents could hang out outside of organized activities. But the staff have been good. They're friendly and have done well by my loved one.

This is a non-profit community which is a big deal - the quality of of care is unbelievable and the price is less then the cooperate communities in the area. We would absolutely recommend this community to others. There is a lot of unique specialties here - all different types of therapy with music and relaxation to help with anxiety which is very beneficial. The meals and dining service is awesome it is the most unique thing we have ever seen. They have a menu like a 5-star hotel - the gourmet chef will come to the memory care unit everyday to show them the 2 meal options to pick from, and if they do not like the meal options they can pick from a different menu that is accessible all throughout breakfast, lunch and dinner. The dining area is also beautiful. The activities are still a little limited but they are doing their best given the covid limitations. This is one of the nicest lockdown units we have ever seen.

Our family had an in person tour and the community is lovely, it is a very nice place. It is brand new, but the rooms were to small for a very pricey rate. There also wasn't a lot of activity going on, seemed a little to quiet at the time.
Our loved one was only there for a couple of days and was a real big pain, but the staff members did a great job. They treated our family great, and the community from everything we could see was very clean and well kept.
