Birchwood Suites Enhanced Assisted Living and Memory Care

We chose Birchwood Suites because they had the memory care unit as my MILs dementia and behavioral issues got her kicked out of her previous facility. But it seems that the drs at Birchwood got her medication figured out and she is doing so well she doesn't need to be in the memory unit anymore The staff is amazing and they take great care of my mother in law.

Several times I went to visit and couldn't get in because nobody was at the front. I waited for over an hour and nobody came. When I got inside my uncle was clearly in distress and slumped over in his wheelchair so that his hands were almost on the floor. There were staff in the same room and nobody even noticed or cared. Right before his death, he was clearly having another stroke or major issue. He was soaked with sweat, [name removed] distorted, moaning and he was just slumped over at the tables in the common room. I had them call in a dr.I also was upset by the fact that I would bring in clothes, items such as pressure pads and things to help him with comfort and they would sit in the boxes. I will say there were two really wonderful staff members that stayed with my uncle during his last week. They were kind and compassionate.

My ratings are generous, just being honest. All of those things were sub par. Mostly poor communication, not enough staff. I would not recommend the facility.

A place to say home is my home and the care giving is just the way to say. This is my home and I can be taken care of in my home. I. have chosen with the care that is provided by the entire staff and all residents that live here With the attention given to ensure that the best a living arrangement is for the residents to feel like they are at home.

What we like most about the Birchwood Suites is that they take care of the patient in house and we don't receive phone calls that they can't give the patient the care that they need (that happened at the last facility she was placed at). Based on the experience we have had so far, we would absolutely recommend them to other families!

My dad has been at Birchwood for over 2 years and I am very happy with the care he receives. The staff is wonderful and take the time to develop relationships with the residents. They bring in entertainment for the residents. It’s like a family. So happy we selected Birchwood for my dad.

Birchwood Suites is a lovely warm caring assisted living community. Its clean, comfortable, well-furnished and great food with caring staff. They have an Enhanced License so your loved can age in place. Their pricing is fair, and they don't charge for everything separately. It's one price. I have my relative there and I am VERY HAPPY!!! I don't like the hours. You can only visit from 9am-5pm. I also don't like the fact that I can't just go in and see my loved one. I know where his room is, but I still have to wait in the waiting room until they get him. He's not happy with the food. Sometimes they pick up the phone. Sometimes they don't. The administration is very nice, and the caseworker is a sweetheart. But some of the staff are not the nicest. I don't like the whole Covid shutdown. I think they should let at least one family member come in wearing a mask. Not seeing family really deteriorated my loved one very badly. He went into a repression. He just needed to see me. All the residents need to see their family. And I understand if that's limited to one family member, at that family member's known risk if their are Covid patients in the building. Also, when a doctor is coming in to see him, they don't notify me. As his healthcare proxy, and with a loved one with periods of forgetfulness, they should really let the family know that a physician is coming in to see him and why. If there's any kind of medication change, they don't notify the family about that either.

The whole experience was very friendly, and they were extremely caring towards my mother. She was always kept clean and comfortable. Everyone was gracious and kind. The food she was given was high quality and tailored to what she could and couldn't swallow. I would recommend them to anybody.

If I had to do it all over again, I would not put my loved one here again. I feel that they do not pay attention to detail like they should. They have had a lot of turnover of staff members, everyday staff and administration. We have not had a very good experience. If your family member is here, make sure to keep a close eye on them and be an advocate for them.

This facility is quite expensive for what you get here. Once we got her out of here they said it was gonna be [amount removed] a month. We were scheduling appointments and they told us they do not do bloodwork when they had done it before. I would not recommend.

I would tell others that it is relative to your loved ones condition, my mother had dementia and the medication that they were approved for use were not good and we constantly battled with the doctors that it was doing more damage than good. I do think if your loved one does not have these memory issues it would be a good fit, but if they do have memory issues they may have some issues. Overall, I would recommend to people with normal circumstances and I would tell others that if they have any medications you want your loved ones to have, to keep a close eye on it.

Run the other way, the staff has a lot of turnover, and the care was not good at all. She felt like the staff was mean to her and she would go to her room and cry. They also added medication without contacting us for approval. They are supposed to check on her every 2 hours. She fell out of bed and ran the staff and no one came and spent 7 hours on the cold floor. I would not recommend this community to others. The owner was not very nice and did not run the community well.

I love the food. It is always something new and I like roaming around in the chair.

Everything is very peaceful nd the people are great.

Everyone is so nice when recreational activities are done we have so much fun.
