Think twice. Residents coming the food is cold. communicate isn't is best with the staffing, you send laundry to be clean and you don't get your own stuff back.

Sadly it was the rate lock on the room which made it affordable - that was the main reason we chose Bickford. The staff being great was a bonus. They really do care about their residents.

It was a good experience overall but my Mother did not want to be there. We tried out for 2-week respite for a break for me as caregiver.Good recommendation from 'A Place for Mom", I liked the staff; price reasonable.

December 4, 2023Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We were honored to be able to have your mom as part of our family even if just for a short stay. We are always here when she is ready to move into her own apartment. We wish you a happy Holiday. Please reach out if you need any assistance during this holiday season.
The interaction/communication with the staff has been very good. We picked this community becasue of the cost, and friendly staff.

November 19, 2023Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are honored you have chosen us to care for your loved one. Thank you for allowing them to be part of our family.
My loved one is currently a resident at Bickford of Upper Arlington and everything has been great for him at this facility. All of the staff are great. They get to know their residents and really want the best for them. The cleanliness and friendliness are great. The care services and value for cost are also great. I would definitely recommend Bickford of Upper Arlington to others.

Response from Bickford of Upper Arlington
November 16, 2023Thank you for taking the time to review Bickford of Upper Arlington. We are so pleased to hear your loved one is happy and doing well in their new home. We are honored that you have trusted us to care for your loved ones and allowed them to be part of our family.
My loved one was a resident here for quite some time, but we eventually decided to move her somewhere else. The facility is beautiful. It's wonderful inside and a lovely place to be. They have an extra dining room available for families to use. The nurses are amazing. The caregivers are great. But the food is terrible. Absolutely terrible. The chef is 21 years old and very open about her dislike for cooking. Instead of following corporate meal plan, hot dogs are served often. My loved one was served frozen onion rings one night, like completely frozen. It's just an ongoing issue. We had several talks with management about it. Even had a meeting with them. Nothing changed. It's bad enough that I wouldn't recommend the facility to friends and family. I hope they eventually get it corrected, because it's otherwise a great place.

November 2, 2022Hi, thank you for your honest feedback. We are sorry to hear about your experience at Bickford of Scioto. Please know this is not the standard of care our residents and families have come to expect from us. Will you please call us at 855-256-5200 so we can learn more about your experience? Thank you.
The tour experience was incredible and I have nothing negative to say. The staff were wonderful and so understanding. The atmosphere had a little more of a formal feeling to it and we were looking for something that felt homey which was the only reason we did not go with Bickford of Scioto.

I liked this community a lot but I had to change areas because the loved ones that were close to her were out of town for a long period of time. The tour guide was very nice and were very good and informative. This community was very beautiful but it felt like the memory care was in a small dark area without very much movement.
The meals there are very good, however the communication is horrible that needs to be improved. Our loved one has been there for a couple of months and it seems like we are constantly having to reach out for updated. It usually takes multiple phone calls before we get a hold of someone or get a call back. It seems like the people who are in charge are always unavailable

My experience has been during the pandemic. The community has found a way to still have activities to engage the residents. It is a smaller, home like atmosphere. They have caring staff, and a passionate Activities Director. There is a group of staff that is willing to step up and do what the residents need.

My husband arrived at Bickford in August last year following the transition from Sunrise. The "old guard" did not want to make the adjustment and thwarted the change in caring style for the residents. The "old guard" basically abandoned the residents and left to go to another Sunrise facility. The "new guard" is wonderful, caring, fun, attentive and life is so much better as the transition to the "Bickford way" is finally taking hold. The "old guard" continue to make contact with the residents trying to get them to leave Bickford, pitiful and emotionally abusive, seems like an ethical breach. I am glad we stuck it out and my husband is living the good life on the Memory Care floor. Thank you to the Bickford staff, you are wonderful!!

Appeared somewhat run down. Seems like there are staffing issues as well. Did not appear to be maintained as well, and there were several vacancies.

They went through an ownership transition during our 1st 6 months and things have not gone as smoothly as we would have liked. Mom needed in room food service which was an extra (very nice) but very inconsistent

My mother was cared for during the day but at night she frequently sat on the commode for over 45 minutes before getting assistance. That is unacceptable. We were charged for a new carpet after she passed; no one informed us of this cost of $700 nor did I ever get an invoice even though I asked for one. There were other issues ie, staff ‘forgot’ to take her for her doc appointment. I was told laundry was included however that meant sheets only. For the high cost, I expected stellar service.

Since Buckford has taken over we feel the care has not been as good. They said they were making no changes but they have including having the family providingcertain necessities. This is difficult for some spouses. Cleanliness of patients and facility have also gone downhill. We have mentioned several things several time but have seen no changes in our case. Not impressed so far

A Place for Mom has scored Bickford of Upper Arlington 9.1 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
