The staff is very friendly. Lots of activities. But they use a broom to clean the carpet because they don’t have a vacuum. The food is repetitive, as in that, they will serve the same vegetables two days in a row. There are no quality meals here. But the staff is great.... Read more

[name removed] and [name removed] are truly an incredible duo in presenting and assisting prospective tenants. They have assisted and been available whenever we needed them. [name removed] even came to our home to assist in the decorating and downsizing process. Their friendly and professional demeanor have been invaluable!!!

This place has everything. It's like a town inside the city. There's a wood shop, an art studio, even a model railroad. They have a traveling club.

I have been pleased so far with my experience at Henry Ford Village. The food that they serve is delicious, the meals are being delivered right now, so some of it is limited. I do think it will be better once the dining room opens back up. The people here are great, it is a very diverse place. I am happy here and I would recommend to others who are looking.

Can’t really answer the questions cause we haven’t stayed here long enough even though we moved in mid July. We travel a lot and are only here at the village 4 1/2 months a year. I had surgery a couple of weeks ago and have not been able to do much of anything yet. I know they have lots of things to do here but can’t seem to stay long enough to enjoy it. Not sorry we moved here. Love the freedom and we are not stressed out like we were in our house.

Nice floor plan - community well cared for and lots of activities - much better suited for dad. Would take most of his income to lease but everything is included so he would have less monthly expenses. If we paid off his car he would have 500 mo spending cash. Food plan is not as good as others as they only allow for one meal a day but offer several cafes and restaurants that offer meals for purchase for $4-$6 which is okay as dad never eats 3 times a day anyway.

Place smelled. Staff seemed ok but not as nice as we would have liked. Not worth it for the money. Not impressed.

My friend moved in after I invited her to a luncheon. She has lived in her home for 60yrs. She can't stop talking about how wonderful it is to live here She likes talking to people. She really likes the food. She has had half the church over for dinner or lunch. She comes down to help make blankets for abused children. I am so happy for her.

I have a friend who is in Ford Village. On June 22, 2018, it was determined that he had bed bugs in his apartment. Finally, on July 2, he was being moved to another location so the apartment could be treated. I thought this was an upper class complex, but it's no different that any other location. It is believed that his apartment was not the only one infected.

My mom has lived here for fourteen years and it has been a blessing. As she has aged, her social life has become more important, and the community here is super supportive. The staff are some of the sweetest people I have ever met and truly seem to love the residents. I think they have a calling to work with the elderly--they speak in glowing terms about them, and feel true empathy. One day, I saw a staff member standing in the hall near the billiard room asking residents if they would like to play a game. She told me the man was shy and hadn't yet participated in any activities, and she was helping him. The residents are also very kind, unfailingly greeting each person they pass in the halls, which are like mini-highways with people of all speeds. Some of the residents volunteer at the front desk, in the library, etc. One of them runs a food co-op and shops for the other residents. The facility is arranged to maximize exercise and opportunities for meeting other people. Every time I go visit I find a new room with some interesting amenity, like a computer lab that offers classes in email or online banking. Losing a loved one or moving from a home into a retirement community naturally brings grief, but no one should be lonely, sad or uncomfortable here for long!

Put my mom in here, independent living, first floor. [Removed], and some lady that does the painting and carpeting named [Removed], assured us of a stand up contract. They lie. My mom passed in Jan. 2017, they resold her apartment, and NEVER notified us, like we would forget about it. Than tried to say "sorry we do not have the money to give you back the estate difference".. The food is all frozen garbage, and Homestead, actually had a computer glitch that wiped my mom off their medication program for a week. So no, not a great place as it seems. She passed two weeks later.

My aunt is adjusting very well thanks to one man there, he was a counselor and his name is [Removed]. He gave her a whole new outlook on life, he is truly amazing. Unfortunately, I was informed that they're letting him go for financial reasons, a lot of the people admire him, it's a very sad situation. The community itself is kept very clean. The only downfall is it's very expensive to live there, but they thought of everything. The meals are very good. They have 3 restaurants in there and they all prepare the food so well. A lot of people who don't even live in the community go there to eat. They have happy hour and an indoor pool, it's beautiful. They also have about 20 activities a day.

They offer daily activities at Henry Ford. They are taking a field trip today to an old school for their 75th anniversary. They offer a wide variety of good food. The staff are helpful and available. They are continuing to follow up to make sure we have all the information we need. The community is clean and well cared for.

The worst thing was that, from day one, they made it so difficult for those of us with power of attorney, and health advocacy set up, to get information. They wouldn't return phone calls. For family communication it was awful. My loved one ended up with so many infections, our loved one just couldn't fight it. I would never recommend that place.

This place is a great fit for my parents! The facility itself is well kept and clean, the staff is friendly, and they even do a great job with the food. It's a very nice place, overall!

A Place for Mom has scored Allegria Village 9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
