Our loved one is doing very well at Harborview Senior Living community, overall it has been a great fit. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would highly recommend this community to other families who may need a place for their loved ones.
When we first visited WLM, the office staff was very personable and extremely caring and helpful. Mom loves living there, she is comfortable in her apartment and gets help from maintenance as she needs it. She has a nice social life with what she likes to call "her people". Gets to go to get her own groceries and on outings with the Jackson Seniors. A few things have changed, younger people seem to be moving in, which is not a problem as long as rules are followed. Her rent did go up and if that continues it could be a problem. The facility is very clean and well kept . My sister and I are very happy that she is there.
I really could not have asked for a better community to live in. The property including my bedroom is very well maintained and I have a gorgeous view of the outside woods right outside my front window. All of the residents and staff have all been wonderful at welcoming me and making me feel right at home in my new living environment.

Lynbrook is a fairly small town located within Nassau County on Long Island, and is considered a suburb of New York City. The town is far enough removed to have its own pace and personality, and close enough to the city to provide convenient access to the many amenities of a large metropolitan area. Lynbrook is very close to the Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding area has an appropriately small town feel. Nassau County overall has a large population – about 1.4 million people – but this is spread out among very many individual towns. Politics are fairly moderate and can lean in either direction, but more often slightly left of center in larger elections. The economy of the surrounding area is mostly based in scientific research and engineering, information technology, and in line with much of the region’s history, fishing. Members of the LGBTQ+ community can expect tolerance in much of the surrounding area.

Lynbrook itself may be a fairly small town, but the surrounding area has plenty of activity. With downtown Manhattan being less than an hour away, you have pretty much every option at your fingertips. Closer to home, however, are plenty of things to do as well. During the summer months, the beach is a major attraction. Long Island has over 100 miles of ocean beach property, and the drive from Lynbrook to the south shore and the ocean is about a half hour or less. Directly south of town is one of the so-called “barrier islands,” home to Atlantic Beach, Jones Beach, and Lido Beach, a group of very popular summertime destinations. Jones Beach is also the site of a large-scale outdoor concert venue, hosting plenty of big name acts every year. Despite its northeastern location, Long Island’s shallow water gets remarkably warm, and the summer weather is reliably hot and sunny.
If you’ve had your fill of the beaches, Nassau County has its fair share of beautiful parks as well. Nearby Hempstead Lake State Park is a 737-acre expanse which includes the county’s largest freshwater lake. The park consists of hiking and bike paths, several fish ponds, shaded picnic areas, and more. In the winter months Hempstead Lake Park even offers ice skating and ice fishing! A short drive away in the town of Oyster Bay on Long Island’s “Gold Coast,” you can find the Planting Fields Arboretum, a world-renowned arboretum and state park which covers over 400 acres and features the historic Coe Hall mansion and museum. Planting Fields also hosts an annual summer concert series, often focusing on jazz. History buffs should take note that a short distance away is Sagamore Hill, the long-term home of former president Theodore Roosevelt, and the “Summer White House” during his time in office. Sagamore Hill now serves as a public museum dedicated to Roosevelt’s life. Remember, if you’re longing for the excitement of the big city, New York is a short train ride away.
Transportation
Lynbrook has a public bus system run by the Nassau Inter-County Express, or NICE. The bus runs throughout the many towns which Nassau County comprises, running 7 days a week from morning till night.
