Harborview Senior Living

Harborview - Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn..... I would like to say the staff was phenomenal, very attentive to my father's needs and tried to make him feel at home as much as possible for an assistive living facility. They treated him with utmost care and he felt as if they were his friends as well. They check on the residents throughout the night to ensure their safety. The facility does have daily activities if residents wish to participate. The facility was a little run down however that can easily be overlooked due to it's size. There was an outdoor section that had unshaded as well as shaded areas, a computer/library/ lg screen tv room for weekly movies, a large room for socializing as well as a full size cafeteria. They made his last days as happy as possible and were in constant contact with me regarding his health and any issues that he had.

Our loved one is doing very well at Harborview Senior Living community, overall it has been a great fit. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would highly recommend this community to other families who may need a place for their loved ones.

I have no experience with the outside community. I go to the facility, visit and leave. The Harbor-view community is kind, and dedicated.

It was so bad. I would give the quality of care no stars if I could, it was horrible. For instance my mom was in a shared room and they put a Alzheimer's dementia patient in with her who was a kleptomaniac. She frightened my mother and they moved her out and then after that her care got even worse. I would tell others do not moved your loved ones in here.

This is a very nice, hands on facility. They express a genuine concern to try to resolve issues and to satisfy the residents. My loved one enjoys this community a lot. He doesn't participate in the activities, but they do have them. Sometimes their phone system goes out and it could be a day or two before I can reach him. I'm hoping they improve that. Other than that, we've had no issues here. The food is good and healthy. I only rated meals/dining lower because they don't serve meat for breakfast. I understand that most breakfast meat is high in sodium, but there are alternatives and I wish they would offer some of those with breakfast. Communication with the family is timely when we reach out to them. The staff is wonderful and very nice. The medical staff is very knowledgeable and hands on. Housekeeping overall is good. I would recommend to friends and family.

Smells horrible, needs renovation poor common restroom cleanliness near eating area.

Very much like Signature Senior Living. Exclusive kosher menu would be a problem for my mom.

After looking at every assisted living facility in Brooklyn and some in LI, I selected Harborview. Unfortunately my husbands stay was limited when he needed additional medical attention. It was by far the best choice I could have made. All the things I had been worried about were no problem there. He had an aide that treated him like family, and the administration was always accessible and responsive. The other residents were happy I believe because all their needs and more were met. It was a wonderful experience for both my husband and I.

This community was wonderful and they treated my uncle with respect. The community was clean and neat all the time. They offered a lot of activities to keep the residents going. The food is good and if my uncle does not like it they accommodate.

Harbor View Home we liked a lot but it was too far for other family members to gert to. It was absolutely gorgeous though and very clean. It was a bit pricey but nothing overwhelming. Defiantly a op choice.

My mother in law is doing alright here at this community. I do think they could do a better job with the cleanliness. The community isn't very appealing, it could looks better. I not totally satisfied with the care they are providing her with. It is still a work in progress for us here.

My friend is doing well and she is happy here at this community. They are treating her very well, when we speak she sounds content. She says they do a pretty good with keeping everything well and neat. They are always there when she needs some help. She is being cared for well and I know she is in good hands.

My sister & I fell in love with the administrator, Dhalia - she was great. Unfortunately, this wasn't the right fit for my independent dad. Residents required greater assistance.

My mother moved in about a month ago. She's very happy there. She has made some friends and spends time outside of her room. The staff and residents are very friendly. All of the staff are responsive to questions and helping out with a request. I'm very happy I moved my mother here.

The folks at Harbor View were more than accommodating. They made us feel like part of the family. And when my mother needed skilled nursing for medication she had to take for 5 weeks Dahlia, the Director knew the people in Sheepshead nursing and rehad right across the street which was so convenient and the services there were wonderful. Overall I would highly recommend Harbor View to anyone that needs a place for their family member.

Needs serious remodeling. Construction is happening on the front. Poor decor. Individual laundry bags are placed in the hallway. A little seedy. Good price however.

70's construction that is maintained but hasn't been upgraded. A lot of people love it. Great value. Located in a decent place. You can get water views. It's not "elegant." **includes care**
